Is The Term 'Born Again' Just A Cliché?

Happy new month everyone!

So, I was looking at the term ‘Born again’, what does it really mean? Has it become a cliché? And do those who claim to be born again really understand what it means to be really born again? I’ve decided to look at what the word ‘Born again’ really mean, well, for enlightenment.

Jesus was the first to make use of this term in John 3 verse 3 when the Pharisee Nicodemus came to meet Him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God”. In a simpler term, you cannot perceive that which is Spiritual, which is the things of God unless you drop this life you’re living and pick up a renewed, refreshed life which is not like the one you are living presently. The only place you can get this new life is in Jesus.

Jesus is the one who provides this new life, once you agree to drop your present life and decide to follow Him/be united with Him. This aspect, ‘united’ is very important. Jesus in John 15 verse 5 said, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” What Jesus was saying is that He is the major part of tree/vine which the branches attach themselves to. Really, the branches cannot survive on their own, their life is dependent on the vine. In other words, whatever happens to the vine affects them.

To my reason for writing this in the first place, when you call something a tree, you are literarily referring to every part of the tree which includes the branches. To be born again implies that your life isn’t yours anymore, because the life of the vine is the exact life of the branches. So, when Jesus was raised from the dead, He came as the vine and sent us out as the branches.

The 120 disciples in Acts 1 and 2 could not start because they had to be connected to the vine by having the exact Spirit of Jesus which came on the day of Pentecost. So, to be born again is to have the exact power of Jesus presently [ref. Ephesians 2:6]. In clear terms, those born again became Jesus because they have His Spirit and His mind [ref. Ephesians 4:4-6; 1 Corinthians 2:16]. Then how do the born again gain access to Jesus’ abilities which is now theirs? By read their biography! The Word a.k.a. the Bible. As you are reading about Jesus, you are actually reading about yourselves, because you don’t have a life again remember? Jesus is now your life [ref. Galatians 2:20]. Ignorance here isn’t bliss, get to know about yourself and believe it in order to manifest the full powers of Jesus.

So how do you utilise this abilities? Log on tomorrow, August 2nd.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
