With All Your Heart

The word trust has a deep meaning. It means to believe in a thing's reliability, truth, or ability. In our daily lives, there is always the use of trust, in every decision we take. Without trust, we cannot make decisions. For example, we first trust that a type of food is good for the body and hygienic before we decide to eat it. In every decision we make, there is the need to trust.

But man sadly has made several wrong decisions because they placed their trust in the wrong things. Well, this has been since the fall of man, as humans had lived as children without parents, which has led mankind to make decisions based on probability and assumptions and end up making wrong decisions.

Humans were designed by God to be guided as they rule the earth. But they were separated from God and chose to make decisions themselves. Many of these decisions were wrong and costly. The major reason is that man did not design the system, God did, and they need Him to guide them and understand the system He created. So, what is the way out?

Let's look at Proverbs 3:5-6, which says, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; ⁶ In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."

God the creator of the whole universe and a perfect system before it was corrupted, is the only one who knows the right decisions man is to take. And He wants us to trust in Him with all our hearts and rely on Him. He has proven Himself throughout the scriptures.

Every true Son and Daughter of God has free access to the Holy Spirit who leads and guides us in everything. The Lord Jesus has shown us ways in which He can always be trusted through scripture. He alone will never leave nor forsake us (ref.: Genesis 28:15, Deuteronomy 31:6-8, Joshua 1:5, Hebrews 13:5).

To be led by the Holy Spirit is to live as Sons and Daughters of God, and not as orphans. He made us and knows us more than we know ourselves. Without Him, we run as a body without a head or as a person without sight or vision. To trust Him allows us to decide accurately which is in line with His perfect plan for our lives in managing the system He designed since creation.

Most of all, we are to trust Him with all our hearts, which is a sign of complete rest in Him, not our understanding that has failed us.

He is not a man, He remains consistent in His perfection. He is the same yesterday, today and forever (ref.: Hebrews 13:8). You can always count on Him, He will never let you down. No matter what you studied, it can fail you, but Jesus can never, and will never fail you.

Trust Jesus today in all you do, and see your life go smoothly as you fulfil your destiny in Him.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!

No Peace of Mind? Read This

I believe this write-up will bless the reader tremendously.

Peace of mind is a mental state that shows when a person is calm, at ease, no worries. But as we all know, there are so many things

Jeremiah 10:23 says, "O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; It  is not in man who walks to direct his  steps." This means that it is God who directs our steps. He is the one who guides us in all that we do, in our going out, our coming in, and our purpose in life, why we are here, and the reason why we are born.

The only way to get the answers to these questions is by sitting at the Lord's feet, by getting refreshed in His presence, as He takes you through the scriptures.

Psalms 119:105 says, "Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path." The Passion Translation puts it thus, "Truth’s shining light guides me in my choices and decisions; the revelation of your Word makes my pathway clear." TPT.

If you're having negative vibes, feeling depressed, and similar feelings, it is not of God. It is the absence of God.

Just as darkness is the absence of light, likewise the lack of peace is the absence of God in our daily living, and He needs to fill that void in you. Even if you're born of God, you need to sit at His feet to always be conscious of His presence daily to fill the void as go on in life.

To buttress my point, Isaiah 26:3 says, "You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on  You, Because he trusts in You." The Amplified Bible puts it thus, "You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You." AMPC. What this means is that the search for peace can only be obtained in His presence. You can only find that calmness, assurance, and purpose in Christ Jesus. So, your mind has to be stayed on Him.

Jesus Christ said in Matthew 11:28-30, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. ²⁹ Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. ³⁰ For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

The Passion Translation puts these verses thus, "Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Come to me.   I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. ²⁹  Simply join your life with mine.   Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle,   humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me. ³⁰  For all that I require of you will be pleasant   and easy to bear.” TPT. Jesus is saying you should join your life with His, and we'll find refreshment and rest in Him.

He is always with us in all our situations. Just as a non-experienced ox is yoked with an experienced ox to learn, likewise, we are to yoke ourselves with Jesus who is our experienced ox. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. If we are burdened by anything, tell Him about it, He is always with us, and He will answer you.

Our Lord Jesus will always give you that peace of mind,  He knows you better than you know yourself. He is the one who brought you here, and he knows your purpose.

The moment you have any feelings that are not of Christ Jesus, tackle them immediately, because the more you stay in a state of depression, lack of peace, worry, sadness, and so on, creates an avenue for the devil to creep into your mind and plant evil thoughts.

Even when there are negative vibes or thoughts, 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 says, "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. ⁴ For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, ⁵ casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ"

We are to bring every thought that raises itself against the knowledge of Christ into captivity to the obedience of Christ. In other words, just as we have received the inheritance from the Father in Christ Jesus, we are to bring every thought that opposes what you have inherited into the obedience of Christ because thought outside of Christ is darkness and it brings a lack of peace, worry, depression and other feelings.

So, in a very simple way, how do we bring every thought into the obedience of Christ? Let's look at Philippians 4:6-7. It says, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; ⁷ and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

Apostle Paul went ahead in verse 8 saying, "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are  just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are  lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there  is any virtue and if there  is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things."

Remain in His presence, sit at His feet, and allow Him to transform you into a life of eternal peace and tranquility. All this is possible because peace is a fruit of the Spirit (ref.: Galatians 5:22-23).

God bless you.

What Happens Through the Journey?

It is very easy to understand Jesus Christ died for all of us, and that all our infirmities, diseases, and shortcomings were placed on Him. And the good news to this is that in His resurrection He started a brand new era. In other words, He is the last Adam, and anyone who receives Him as their Adam, by accepting Him as their Lord and Saviour begins a brand new life in Him, a life that has never existed before (ref. 2 Corinthians 5:17).

This sounds amazing, right? The Bible also makes us understand that as Jesus is right now in heaven, so are we right here on earth (ref. 1 John 4:17). But we didn't see any difference in our physical bodies when we received Christ as Lord.

What happened when we became a new creation in Christ was a change of Spirit. Man is a spirit, he possesses a soul and lives in a body.

We are to renew our minds consistently in Christ, away from the world. This allows the soul to conform to the ways of the new Spirit, which is the Spirit of Christ Jesus.

But some have certain challenges, like in health-related cases who have received Christ Jesus as Lord, and understand all that I wrote above but are still ill.

The issue we need to understand is not their belief, but what happens on the journey to complete manifestation of perfect healing.

God has given us health, thus allowing us to be healed, all embodied in Christ. Just as some get healed instantly, some do not see the manifestation immediately despite their understanding.

According to the scriptures, it all boils down to our faith. But what happens to the person who experiences the pain of the illness or related cases on the path to complete healing? We all have people like that around us. Some of us may be experiencing it ourselves.

The journey is where our faith is awakened. It is the time we put all that we studied into practice. Consistency in confessing health to the area that needs it is very important.

Speaking Bible verses about healing in that area must be done. And most importantly you must see yourself healed as you confess, and live your daily lives.

There are times when it may look as if nothing is happening despite your confession. In cases like this, we are to give God praise and thanksgiving because praises and thanksgiving chase away the devil, and praises strengthen our faith in Him.

Being a faith support to those in cases like this is very important. Although we cannot believe on behalf of those in need, we can help strengthen their faith through faith scriptures and help encourage them.

The whole essence is to get the faith stirred up because the healing has been given. All we need is to receive the healing through faith in Christ Jesus. And we must be strengthened and remain in faith, and see ourselves healed till we see manifestation on the outside.

Don't forget the devil is the master of discouragement. So, any time you feel discouraged either through your thoughts or people, know that it is the work of the devil. You must rebuke the devil by declaring the finished work of Christ Jesus in your life. Be battle-ready with scriptures to counter any thoughts that are contrary to what Jesus has done for you (ref. 2 Corinthians 10:3-6, James 4:7).

Put on the whole armor of God and be battle-ready. Always praise God at all times, and see yourself healed or delivered from whatever challenge you might be going through.

God bless you.

Who Is Your Adam?

When you think of the creation story, you remember Adam and Eve. Adam typically is the beginning of the human race. Through him, every person on earth originates.

If we recall, Adam made a wrong choice that separated him from God, which put all of mankind in a death state. This is because to be separated from God is to be separated from life. God told him that if he made the wrong choice of eating the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil he would surely die. And Adam still ate of the tree even when he knew the consequences (ref.: Genesis 3).

Even though it appeared as though all of mankind was doomed, God in His loving kindness made a way out for all of humanity. The devil on the other hand thought it was over for mankind, but it was and still is impossible to trick the Almighty God. He is the One who knows all things, even before they happen.

Jesus played two major roles here on earth. First,

He came as the lamb to save all of humanity. He was born of a virgin to enter this fallen world of the first Adam, thereby becoming the only one of the descendants of Adam who didn't have a sinful nature. With this, He could atone for the whole world. For without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sin (ref.: Hebrews 9:22). And Jesus was the only perfect person to get this done.

Jesus died on the cross and the wrath of God was satisfied because the sin of the whole world was placed on Jesus (ref.: 2 Corinthians 5:21). In the true sense, Jesus became the scapegoat for all of humanity (ref.: Leviticus 16:6-10).

The second reason Jesus came was to establish a new beginning, as His resurrection signified this. He is the second, or better still, the last Adam. He is the only One begotten of the Father (ref. John 1:14,18; 1 John 4:19).

So, what does Jesus being the last Adam mean to us?

The resurrection of Jesus signifies that there is another Adam and that the sins of the first Adam have truly been atoned for (ref.: 1 Corinthians 15:17). It also signifies that we can partake in the new life under Jesus. This is done by the confession of Jesus as Lord and believing in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead, then we would instantly be grafted into the new life of Jesus, thus no longer under the first Adam (ref.: Romans 10:9; 11:17-32).

Let us understand that Adam defines and determines the type of life everyone born under him experiences. For example, God told him that on the day he eats of the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil, he will surely die, which happened. Adam became like a plucked flower without any source of life. So, every born under him is born into death, because they are just as he is. If he has the tendency to develop any form of sickness or disease, so also would anyone born of him have the tendency to develop any form of sickness or disease, just because of their nature, their source who is Adam.

Jesus being the last Adam is a new beginning. Jesus is God and has the life of God. Of course, we know that God is light and life and has no form of darkness or death in Him. These and many more are the characteristics of our Lord Jesus. And anyone born of Jesus means the complete life of Jesus is given as a gift and an inheritance.

Since you are now born again, you have no business with the life or system of the first Adam. The life you are to focus on is Jesus, because being your Adam, all born under have His life. Know who you have become, confess who you have become, and the moment you believe it, you manifest the life of the last Adam-the Lord Jesus. Know your Adam and live manifest Him.

On Top Of The Food Chain

Food chain! I'm sure you must have heard about it. The food chain is an order in the ecosystem where a small living organism is consumed by a larger living organism, which is also consumed by another larger living organism, and on till it gets to the top of the food chain where the living organism has no predator. And man is at the top of the food chain.

I used this analogy to depict what I call a spiritual food chain, where our Lord Jesus is at the top of the food chain. This is why He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Everyone and everything is under Him. And anyone born under Jesus (born-again) has inherited the life of our Lord Jesus and has been given the privilege to function in His authority (ref.: Ephesians 1:21-23).

What does this mean for us? As the body of Christ Jesus, the fulness of Christ Jesus resides on the inside of us. So, when we speak in His authority, it is as Him speaking exactly with no limitation. This is the reason why we command the blind eyes to open, it is Him in us that opens the blind eyes. All these are done by the faith of Jesus.

As Galatians 2:20b says, "...the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." KJV.

Jesus told His disciples in John 15:5 that without Him they [which applies to us] can do nothing. We are His representation here on earth. All that He is, we just express here because we are born of Him.

So, as you walk, remember who you carry on the inside of you because He is on top of the food chain, and so are you.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t? Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!

What Does Hardness of the Heart Mean?

Hardness of the heart, what does it mean?

The first time I heard or read about the hardness of the heart had to do with the Israelites in the Bible. Several times the LORD God would guide them on where to go and what to do for their good, but almost every time, they didn't listen or believe. This is where the hardness of the heart comes in.

God's word is always bounding, it must always come to pass. He knows the end from the beginning. And most of all His love towards us is beyond human comprehension and imagination. So, why won't you trust Him? But no, the children of Israel didn't. This is called the hardness of the heart.

When they had no trust or belief in God, despite all the promises He gave to them, they couldn't enter into His rest (ref.: Hebrews 4:1-5). And by not entering into God's rest implies we can't receive God's promises. Not because He doesn't want to give us, but because He offered us but our minds are in more than one place at the same time. Sort of having many options.

But remember God is always the 'sure guy'. And any other option cannot be trusted.

To have a hardened heart is to lack faith and trust in a thing or person by holding blindly and stubbornly to another thing.

So, the writer of Hebrews said in chapter 4 that when we hear the true word of Grace, we shouldn't harden our hearts like the children of Israel did (Hebrews 4:6-11).

Now, the word of God filled with the Grace of our Lord Jesus are the words we are to have rest in. 2 Corinthians 1:20 says, "For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us." We can always count on Him every time. But it is left to us to trust in Him. To believe in Him. To have faith in Him. To find our true rest in Him.

If God has said it, then it is done. Remember He is in every time at the same time because He is omnipresent and He is not bound by time. So, everything happens now. So, whatever He has promised us is done. You just have to believe it and not harden your heart over it, no matter who challenges you over it, because again, His promises are yes and AMEN.

God bless you.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t? Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. It's The Other Way Around

There's one thing that's on the mind of man, and that is his needs being met, so he wakes up and runs after his needs every day. He calls it hard work, as he gets a job and works his strength out to get something to compensate for his hard work. It's quite sad.

All these began when Adam and Eve were sent out of the garden. Adam had to till the ground to survive (ref.: Genesis 3:17-19). And that's how the world has been ever since. But was that the plan of God from the beginning?

Before God made Adam he had made provision for all that he would ever need. So, if that was done, what was Adam's job? His job was to tend and guard what God had given him. He had no business toiling. So, looking at what man does today, it's the other way around from God's intention.

So, can we live God's original plan right here on earth?

The man wasn't created to toil. By toiling, we lose sight of our true purpose of existence which is to tend and guard what he has provided ahead.

Now, the moment you receive Christ Jesus into your life, the question you are to ask is what you are to do not to have your needs met, but as the chore of a Son or Daughter of God. Why? It is because all your needs have already been met.

Matthew 6:33 says we should seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all the things we are running up and down for will be added. There won't be a need to run after it because it was already available from the start.

Jesus said earlier in Matthew 6:31 that we shouldn't worry about our needs, and in verse 32 that those who run after these things are unbelievers, those who don't know Him.

Our focus is to live the life He has called us to live, fulfilling our mandate as Sons and Daughters of God here on earth. And we are to be rest assured that by just being His Sons and Daughters, our needs have been sorted.

Perseverance

Coming into the new life in Christ Jesus is a different ball game entirely. Living in a world where you need to save the unsaved as being sent on a mission, also has almost everything opposing what you stand for.

Sometimes you ask yourself if you're meant to do this. Sometimes, you feel like giving up. And even when you choose to do it, as that meant to be, you have things and even people, some of whom could be close to you discouraging you on your mission here on earth.

And when things like this happen, the word perseverance should be what we are to hold on to.

Perseverance is a continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition. And in this case, our effort is to focus and achieve our mission no matter what.

But even though we are saved, we are in the flesh. And as I wrote above, the flesh is sensitive to trials and temptation. So, how do we persevere?

Let's take a look at Romans 5:1-5, it says "¹ Our faith in Jesus transfers God’s righteousness to us and he now declares us flawless in his eyes. This means we can now enjoy true and lasting peace with God, all because of what our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One, has done for us. ² Our faith guarantees us permanent access into this marvelous kindness that has given us a perfect relationship with God. What incredible joy bursts forth within us as we keep on celebrating our hope of experiencing God’s glory! ³ But that’s not all! Even in times of trouble we have a joyful confidence, knowing that our pressures will develop in us patient endurance. ⁴ And patient endurance will refine our character, and proven character leads us back to hope. ⁵ And this hope is not a disappointing fantasy, because we can now experience the endless love of God cascading into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who lives in us!" TPT.

Apostle Paul reminds us that our faith in Jesus got us born-again, which implies that God's righteousness was transferred to us as our brand new life. It's an eternal joy to live a flawless life of peace with God. So, this was why he also said that even in times of trouble or tribulations, while we carry out the Lord's mission, we glory in it because this enables us to persevere.

And because we know that whatever we face in this world is nothing compared to the eternity we would spend with our Lord Jesus. This then brings about a proper character that rests on the true hope of His return.

This is what Romans 8:25 means, where it says that if we hope for what we don't see, then we wait for it in perseverance.

Perseverance is what keeps us, knowing who we have become and the hope of the redemption of our bodies in His second coming. This strengthens us as we close our eyes to trials that come our way, and as we also receive the strength to overcome the temptations of this world.

We can only persevere when know causes that drive and zeal within us.

Let us not seize to remember what the Lord has done for us. This allows His Spirit to flow through more as we don't resist it. Remember, always remember why you persevere, and why have to keep your hope alive in Him.

God bless you.

Do You Know Him Personally?

How well do you know a person? There is what I call academic knowledge of a person and there is what I call intimate or personal knowledge of a person. So, what do I mean by these?

Academic knowledge as I call it is to know a person or a thing from afar. While intimate knowledge is having an innate knowledge of that thing or person, sort of like being that person.

Let's take a look at Nicodemus and our Lord Jesus in John 3. Jesus spoke to Nicodemus about the born-again experience. Nicodemus being a religious leader didn't understand what Jesus was talking about. This was because he had academic knowledge about God, but not personal or intimate knowledge about God. In other words, Nicodemus knew nothing outside what he was taught, because it wasn't something he had experienced.

Jesus on the other hand spoke not just about what He knew, but on what He experiences. With what Jesus said, a person who is born-again could be likened to a cub who has a Lion within. No matter what the cub does, it will become a Lion. But no matter how much another animal imitates a Lion in every aspect, it cannot be a Lion.

Nicodemus like anyone who isn't born-again, no matter how much they have knowledge about Jesus cannot experience the life of Christ in them, because they just have academic knowledge. But anyone who is born-again carries the Spirit of Christ Jesus in them, therefore, they have the natural and personal experience of God in them.

Colossians 2:6-7 says, "My counsel for you is simple and straightforward: Just go ahead with what you’ve been given. You received Christ Jesus, the Master; now live him. You’re deeply rooted in him. You’re well constructed upon him. You know your way around the faith. Now do what you’ve been taught. School’s out; quit studying the subject and start living it! And let your living spill over into thanksgiving." MSG. Why is this important to note?

Many times Sons and Daughters of God relate to God as one who doesn't have His offspring, like a stranger who knows about God, but not intimately. The moment you receive Christ Jesus as Lord of your life by being born-again, you are to live Him, because all that He is, you have become.

Do not allow the devil to lie to you that you still have your old life with you. What you have is just the memory of your old life. Everything about you is completely brand new, and you can always remind yourself through the constant meditation on Jesus in the scriptures, and the leading of the Holy Spirit.

You have Jesus within you. And as you constantly meditate on Him, you bring out the real you in your going out, coming in, thoughts, words reactions, everything, because this real you is Jesus! It's a relationship and not a religion.

The Prayer That Yields Results

I have written on prayer several times and made it clear that prayer is a dialogue between the Sons and Daughters of God with our Father in Heaven. I also said prayer expresses faith based on who we are in Christ Jesus. It is a place where we sit to receive and release. But in this write-up, I'll explain how our prayer can always yield the desired result we seek.

First of all, the Spirit of God lives within us, and from the point of the leading of the Spirit of Jesus within us we pray. In other words, the Spirit of Jesus guides us to know if what we intend to ask is in line with His will. This is the result of being transformed by the renewal of our minds.

Now, James 1:5-8 says "⁵ If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. ⁶ But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. ⁷ For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; ⁸ he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways."

Prayer is done in faith, and by faith, you should not be double-minded. But that's not all, Hebrews 11:6 says, "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."

Prayer is done in faith. Again, prayer is done in faith. Has this sunk yet? Let me give you an example, a man had a skin disease, and his hope was that his skin disease would be cleared. Now, we all know that on the cross, that man's skin disease was placed on him, and in return, he has given the man brand new skin, with no disease. Sounds easy right?

It's so easy, but many of us do not go about it that way. So, like the man he brought his request to God, asking for healing of his skin. Now, what he does next would determine whether his prayer would be answered or not.

Now, stay with me on this, as the scriptures say, prayer is done in faith. So, what is faith? It simply is the positive affirmation of all that Jesus has given you as yours. If that isn't clear enough, ask yourself, do you know God? I am asking this because Hebrews 11:6 says "...he who comes to God must believe that He is..." that you know He is not a man that lies or repent, (ref.: Numbers 23:19). After all, whatever He says, He does it. This is what we as Sons and Daughters of God MUST ALWAYS remember.

So, when the man presents his request to the Lord God, what he is to do next is to keep thanking God that He has healed him. He is not to come back and ask God to heal Him. Asking God to heal him is a sign that he has a double mind, and a double-minded man should not expect anything from God.

The moment you present your request to God, from that point on keep on giving God thanks on that matter. Even if you don't see the physical result immediately, keep on giving God thanks. The devil may bring suggestions to your mind that you are not healed or whatever case you made your request to God for wasn't addressed by God.

Jesus told His disciples that whatever thing they ask when they pray, they will have what they prayed for when they believe they have received them (ref.: Matthew 21:22; Mark 11:24). This is faith, and without faith, it is impossible to please God (ref.: Hebrews 11:6).

Remember, whatever the devil says is ALWAYS a lie, so, if he says, it wasn't addressed by God, then know that God addressed it.

Also, you must have a firm grip on the word of God that strengthens your faith that God did it.

The heroes of faith in Hebrews 11, believed that God did it, even when they hadn't seen it physically. This is faith because to call something faith is to see what no one can see as real. And thing was given to us by Jesus.

If you want to see your prayer manifest, then trust that Jesus, as the man who never fails, and most of all, He answered our prayers before we asked Him. All you keep doing is to keep giving Him thanks over and over because you believe and know that He has done it.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, and you are now brand new!

3 John 1:2

3 John 1:2 says, "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers." This verse is commonly used to indicate that God wants us to be wealthy and healthy. So it isn't normal to see a poor Christian or a sick one. Well, this is true, but where what I observed is that all these are said from a worldly mindset.

You find people come into a new year and shout "This is my year to make it". Sounds alright, but many times it is said from the worldly mindset. How I know is that they say things like, this is the year I'll buy my house or car or get married or get that job, or give birth to twins, and several things related to it.

I am not in any way saying we shouldn't prosper and be in health, in fact, it is expected for us to prosper and be in health because it is part of our salvation package. But what did Apostle John mean when wrote this?

Now, we must first understand and remind ourselves that we are aliens and strangers in this world, sent here by God to fulfil a general purpose and an individual purpose (ref.: 1 Peter 2:11).

I have used the analogy of us seeing ourselves from the James Bond perspective. You'll understand that James Bond is always sent on a mission. The mission is his focus, and he is always assured of the provision of all the things or gadgets he would need to carry on his mission.

James Bond uses the most sophisticated gadgets, but you don't see him saying he will have the best gadget or an expensive place to stay, why? It is because he already has it! It comes with the full package of his mission. He believes that once he is sent on a mission, everything he will need to achieve his mission has already been provided for him, no matter the country he finds himself.

We on the other hand, who the one who sent us is the creator of the universe, it really doesn't make any sense for us to start declaring that this is our year to achieve XYZ. Rather, our focus is meant to be on our mission, believing that all that we will ever need in this life has already been given to us. All we are to do is listen to the guy on the Woki-Toki to direct our steps. The believing factor is very important.

This was why Apostle John wrote in his letter that he prays that they prosper and be in health, just as their soul prospers. This means that as you believe or as your soul is being renewed, then this allows you to prosper and be in health as Christ Jesus because the more our soul prospers, the more we live as Christ Jesus.

What Does It Mean To Turn The Other Cheek?

There is a popular verse in the Bible where Jesus spoke on retaliation in Matthew 5:39 which says, "But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also."

One thing we must understand is that Jesus didn't come to this world to raise timid people or people who would allow ill-treatment of themselves for the sake of not causing violence. No! For the kingdom of our Lord Jesus is not a kingdom of foolish people.

If you remember, Jesus on two occasions scattered the temple court of people who were buying and selling, rather than praying (ref.: Matthew 21:12-13; John 2:13-21). He always advocated the right thing, not for us to be hypocritical. Then why did He ask us to turn the other cheek when someone slaps us? What does this really mean?

The law of Moses says, "An eye for an eye", but Jesus came to express Himself in all He did. The new commandment by Jesus says we should love our neighbour as Christ loves us. That's a responsibility that we need the leading of the Holy Spirit. The lowest way we can understand this [which rests on loving your neighbour as yourself] is that we should do to others what we would want others to do to us. Also, means that we shouldn't do to others what we don't want them to do to us.

So, when someone treats us anyhow, our point of response shouldn't be evil for evil, but not to treat the person the way we won't want them to treat us.

As we live our lives this way, we bring about peace. Again, this doesn't mean being timid, but showing the person that I didn't retaliate because I would not want you to slap me. This would set the offender thinking, and eventually have a change of heart. So, when you read further in verse 40 of Matthew 5, Jesus said if a person compels you to go a mile, go with him two. This states that you would love the person to do likewise to you when it comes to your turn.

To turn the other cheek doesn't mean being gullible or foolish, but to establish the fact that rather than retaliating, I'd rather do to you what I'd want you to do to me. So, if you want a slap, then give a slap, but I know you don't want a slap, then do not give a slap. Bless and do not curse, because you only give what you would want others to do to you, and on like that as Jesus explained to us in Matthew 5. There is great wisdom in that.
