Who Is Your Adam?

When you think of the creation story, you remember Adam and Eve. Adam typically is the beginning of the human race. Through him, every person on earth originates.

If we recall, Adam made a wrong choice that separated him from God, which put all of mankind in a death state. This is because to be separated from God is to be separated from life. God told him that if he made the wrong choice of eating the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil he would surely die. And Adam still ate of the tree even when he knew the consequences (ref.: Genesis 3).

Even though it appeared as though all of mankind was doomed, God in His loving kindness made a way out for all of humanity. The devil on the other hand thought it was over for mankind, but it was and still is impossible to trick the Almighty God. He is the One who knows all things, even before they happen.

Jesus played two major roles here on earth. First,

He came as the lamb to save all of humanity. He was born of a virgin to enter this fallen world of the first Adam, thereby becoming the only one of the descendants of Adam who didn't have a sinful nature. With this, He could atone for the whole world. For without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sin (ref.: Hebrews 9:22). And Jesus was the only perfect person to get this done.

Jesus died on the cross and the wrath of God was satisfied because the sin of the whole world was placed on Jesus (ref.: 2 Corinthians 5:21). In the true sense, Jesus became the scapegoat for all of humanity (ref.: Leviticus 16:6-10).

The second reason Jesus came was to establish a new beginning, as His resurrection signified this. He is the second, or better still, the last Adam. He is the only One begotten of the Father (ref. John 1:14,18; 1 John 4:19).

So, what does Jesus being the last Adam mean to us?

The resurrection of Jesus signifies that there is another Adam and that the sins of the first Adam have truly been atoned for (ref.: 1 Corinthians 15:17). It also signifies that we can partake in the new life under Jesus. This is done by the confession of Jesus as Lord and believing in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead, then we would instantly be grafted into the new life of Jesus, thus no longer under the first Adam (ref.: Romans 10:9; 11:17-32).

Let us understand that Adam defines and determines the type of life everyone born under him experiences. For example, God told him that on the day he eats of the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil, he will surely die, which happened. Adam became like a plucked flower without any source of life. So, every born under him is born into death, because they are just as he is. If he has the tendency to develop any form of sickness or disease, so also would anyone born of him have the tendency to develop any form of sickness or disease, just because of their nature, their source who is Adam.

Jesus being the last Adam is a new beginning. Jesus is God and has the life of God. Of course, we know that God is light and life and has no form of darkness or death in Him. These and many more are the characteristics of our Lord Jesus. And anyone born of Jesus means the complete life of Jesus is given as a gift and an inheritance.

Since you are now born again, you have no business with the life or system of the first Adam. The life you are to focus on is Jesus, because being your Adam, all born under have His life. Know who you have become, confess who you have become, and the moment you believe it, you manifest the life of the last Adam-the Lord Jesus. Know your Adam and live manifest Him.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
