Hello everyone,
Last time I wrote on how it is left to us to receive what God has offered on the topic, “According To Your Faith”. But before that, I wrote on how God has this rest plan for every one of us, like a permanent weekend without stress. The question then came, which was and still is, “If God wants us to rest, then how do we survive?” The point here is to understand what this rest really means.
In Genesis 2:2, it says, “And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done”. For God to have rest didn’t mean He was tired, rather it meant the work was completed, in other words, there was nothing else to be done again, it had reached its perfect state. The rest really mean blessings! God has done everything for us, all we have to do is to enter that state of blessing.
Hebrews 4:11 says, “Let us, therefore, be diligent to enter that rest…”. The world lost the rest when Adam fell. When Adam was created, He entered from the very beginning, which is why His duty was to tend the garden and not till the ground. The rest is a state of grace, a shadow of it which the children of Israel got when they came into the Land of Canaan. But for us, the fullness of grace is at the end of ourselves, that is when we pick up a new life which starts in Christ Jesus. Christ has done everything for us, all we have to do is just to believe; it seems so good to be true, but it’s true.
Man struggle to eat, to clothe, to have a roof over his head. He struggles with his health, finance and other things, but God through Jesus has given us grace. In Him is life, and when I mean life, it doesn’t include the struggles we face, because our struggles are the result of the absence of rest. Yes, we are to work in rest but struggle; the rest is just directions on what has already been done, ours is just to pick it up.
Jesus said in John 3:35, “The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand.” In actual fact, Christ is our rest! We are just to abide in Him and allow His words abide in us [ref. John 15:7]. This where the Holy Spirit comes in to guide us in this rest. Believe me, we grow in the rest as we drop our old attitude, since its source has been destroyed. So, we are to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 3:18.
May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.
Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
