Happy Weekend everyone,
Last time I wrote about the importance of perseverance, how being in a corrupt world full of distractions and obstacles could arise in different areas of our lives. But in order to overcome and put our foot down on the Solid Rock we stand—Jesus, we must persevere by constantly repeating and confessing the word of God for our lives, especially on the pressing situation daily in order to take our mind off the distractions of the devil and dwell on the word of God. In doing so, we then ignore the existence of what was an obstacle and continue to focus on the Rock of All Ages, who never fails us, this is why we must persevere.
The repetition isn't what resists the devil, but for us to focus on what is being confessed as the Truth already established in our lives as we are Sons of God, in order not to have room for doubt and unbelief. To confess the word of God through faith in Christ Jesus is the use of the Sword of the Spirit over your situation and is also the use of the shield of faith to quench all the fiery darts of the enemy. The truth is that it is really the use of the whole armour of God, because to stand on the word of God also means putting on the breastplate of righteousness, and having your feet shod with the gospel of peace, and girding your waist with the truth, not believing the lies of the devil, all these would hold full ground by reminding yourself that you the Son of God by taking up the helmet of salvation. (ref.: Ephesians 6:13-17).
I said yesterday that just perseverance is not the only way we can resist the devil, there is another way which is very important that resists the devil quickly and also strengthens our faith in God. Now, the bible says in James 4:7, “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” Ephesians 6:12, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” So, what is the way we can resist the devil differently, although it isn’t really different, it is just the approach? The answer is PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING!
To praise God is an act of worship which shows deep reverence to God Himself. In doing so, your heart is focused on Him alone and not on any other thing, not even your challenges. As you praise God, you are being refreshed in the Spirit and your faith is being strengthened, because you are looking unto God alone and on His word. As He has given us grace through Christ Jesus, we see the grace of God being revealed in our lives.
Psalms 100:4 says, “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.” As you give God thanks, we are declaring words of faith, calling things that are not in physical [at the moment] as though they are, in other words, you are appreciating God and standing on the Solid Rock, thus not giving room for the devil in any way, and this resists the devil quickly, because the devil hates praises, he cannot stand it.
The world as we have now is conceived into lies that any ground you stand in Christ is negated by people around you. The surprising thing the devil doesn’t use people that could affect your will, instead he uses the people that when they speak you believe whatever they say, this is why we need to know the scriptures in order not to be confused or carried away.
Every challenge or obstacle is a mirage, but with the lies around us saying the mirage is real, sometimes it could be hard to deny that existence of the mirage as being real. But when you give God praise and thanksgiving, you are exposed to the truth, your whole being is awakened in the Spirit as you would only stand on the truth and nothing but the truth.
The devil just wants everyone not to focus on God/Christ, but to focus on their problems which aren’t real. Believe me, no matter how hard it may seem, don't lose hope and faith, keep praising God and you would see how the devil would flee from you and all your battles conquered, thus establishing what Jesus did on the cross. This is the gospel truth.
May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.
Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
