It is About Others and Not About You (Part 2)

Happy Weekend everyone,

Yesterday, I made us understand that our focus as Sons of God has been more about ourselves and less about others. As I quoted Matthew 7:12a, which says, “Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them”, this was what Jesus wanted us to understand and spread. The verse concluded saying, “…for this is the Law and the Prophets.” Now, the Law and the Prophets are both fulfilled in Jesus, as the He is the fulfillment everything the Law and the Prophets talked about.

Jesus was asked by a lawyer what the great commandment in the law was, and Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:37-40). The first thing to note here is that love the Lord God with our whole being, this is in line with offering ourselves as living sacrifices which is our reasonable act of worship, (ref.: Romans 12:1), it is when this is done that you would then be able to love your neighbour as yourself, but the flesh is very selfish and wouldn’t want that to happen, this where the Holy Spirit comes in.

We say the world is in disarray, but when we love our neighbours as ourselves, being concerned about others, the world is transformed. You must also know that you cannot love your neighbour as yourself without love, yeah, and this love comes from God alone. You may be bothered about your neighbour not appreciating it, but you shouldn’t expect your neighbour to appreciate it, because you were sent to transform a world who doesn’t know what true love is, and doesn’t care for others. Love is very, very powerful and cannot be hidden when expressed in the smallest of things, with time the neighbour sees love in all you’ve been doing and gets transformed because love is full of sacrifices which a regular person won’t want to express.

You might be thinking about the sacrifices involved in caring for others, but have you forgotten sacrificing is not a new thing to you. Don’t forget you wake up early in the morning to get to work on time, you do everything to ensure you finish a project before its deadline, you pull some stunts in order not to get fired, and other things related to that. All these have been sacrifices pulled for your job, but this is the wrong intention, because it is a selfish sacrifice because it is more about yourself, but on the contrary, parents make a lot of sacrifices for their children which is amazing. But our love shouldn’t end with our children. The world is disarray because people don’t care what happens to others, even if they appear as if they do, it is a marketing agenda which is still selfish and without love.

To get a sane world with the love of God, the Sons of God must recognise their task, and that their task is not in enriching themselves, but to transform the world by being the light and salt of the earth, (ref.: Matthew 5:13-16). When a man has been given everything, would his focus be to enrich himself still? No, it won’t, this is what Jesus has done for us and, we have received everything we would ever need in our lives, as this is true our focus should be to enrich others as ourselves. Jesus went deeper, by saying we should not just love our neighbour as ourselves, but that we should love one another, as He loves us, (ref.: John13:34), wow. By transforming the world, you are pleasing God, because it is an act of faith, and remember is not about yourself but about others, and as you remember others, God will make others remember you.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!

Love is indeed truely Sacrificial, not being conscious of whether one appreciates the love you share or not.

Thank you for your inspiring message. God Bless you.
