The Church Growth and Corruption Growth (Part 2)

Happy Sunday everyone,

In my recent write-up, my focus has been on why the church has lost its focus, judging by the disunity within the body of Christ, as denominations don’t believe the same thing and they all claim to have the Holy Spirit and looking at the growing level of corruption in the world. All these are signs that the church isn’t doing what they are meant to. Some would quote Jesus when He said the harvest is plenty, but the labourers are few, but I say to those who quote this in their defence, they are not dishing out the right message, which is the undiluted Word of God to the world or in the church. Now, this is my focus here today; many church leaders are not giving the church the right message. And this is different from being self-centred which I discussed yesterday.

It is clear in the scriptures that nobody could keep the Law because their spirit was separated from God based on what the first Adam did, but Jesus was the only man who kept the Law perfectly and God glorified Him, and then He died and on the third day He resurrected brand new. And anyone who receives Jesus Christ as Lord of their life receives a brand new life, as the old life dies and the new life of Christ takes over. Invariably, anyone who has received Jesus as their new life is now one with God, no longer separated from Him. The church understanding this is wonderful, but what many do after this is what goes to show that they are being fed wrongly, and what is it?

Many believe that they could not keep the Law because they were separated, but now that they have received the new life of Christ, they go and start keeping the Law, believing that they can now keep it because they no longer separated from God, and this is wrong. They may claim that that’s not what they do, but their actions say otherwise.

Many find it hard to believe that the Law is outdated, old, and should no longer be kept. Yes, you could use it to learn how God used it to guide the Israelite, but the Law is not for anyone who is born again. It became officially abolished at the death of Christ and took effect at His resurrection. Wow, still find it hard to believe?

The Law from the very beginning wasn’t given to making us righteous, rather it was given to tell us that we need a saviour. If keeping the Law could make us righteous, then there was no need for the coming of Christ Jesus. So, where does the church get it wrong?

They try to please God with their actions, thus taking their stand from the old style of living [the old covenant]. In other words, Jesus is only for salvation and to make heaven, and not Life Himself. It really hasn’t dawned on them, because they know, but haven’t meditated on it, that Jesus is our all in all. In other words, the Law was only to reveal Jesus, and now that He has come, He is the One we are to focus on forever and not the Law! This is why we received the Holy Spirit, who acts as our direction.

There is nothing we are to do on earth, from business, to whom to get married to, to what to eat, to what school and course to study, that is not in Jesus. In Him are God’s plans and purposes for our lives, so we focus on Him, and we focus on Him we develop our faith, we live a pure life, why? It is because you inherited Him as your life, and your focus on Him allows you to become Him physically, and not by keeping the Law.

The scriptures say that God will write the Laws on our heart, (ref.: Hebrews 10:16), and it is not the ten commandment, but a greater Law than the Law given to the children of Israel. The scriptures also tell us that a covenant greater than that of Israelites is what we operate in (ref.: Hebrews 7:22), so why are you focusing on what is expired (ref.: Hebrews 8:13). And guess what? Jesus is our Law, our life, and our everything. There is nothing that we need in this life that is not in Jesus, and this is what the church leader is to teach the church, to know Jesus intimately, which is the true meaning of eternal life according to Jesus Himself, (ref.: John 17:3).

When you try to keep the Law, you do it using your human strength, and ability, and not being led by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, when every child of God do this, we would end up with different opinions as to how to please God, and this is what has been happening which has scattered the church in disunity. But when we focus and fix our hearts and minds on Jesus, we would all be led by the same Holy Spirit, speaking one voice to all, and everyone would go about his business, by being led by the Holy Spirit according to the skill given to him by God. But we would all speak the same language of focus on Christ, it is there and then that the church would listen to God on His plans and purposes for our lives on how to transform this world, and we would carry it out according to what assignment He gives us. This is the way there would be growth in the church and decrease in corruption.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
