Hi everyone,
We all know about sin and the challenges we’ve put ourselves into as a result of these sins that we commit. But do you know that unlike what we think, sins aren’t things like fornication, theft, murder and others like that? All these are listed aren’t the real sin; these are the result of sin itself. These acts start from the mind. If what people call sin are the things I listed then sin are the imaginations we have on our mind before the action, even if you don’t do it physically but you imagine it, it is sin! But all these are still not the real definition of sin, so what is sin?
Let’s take a look at James 4:17 which says, “So any person who knows what is right to do but does not do it, to him it is sin.” AMP, this is the definition of sin. The etymological meaning of sin means to miss the mark, so, what is this mark that is missed? The mark is God; Man was created to align themselves to God, but as Man fell, he lost his focus from God and as a result he focused on that which wasn’t God which resulted to what crafted his wrong mentality that led to the action that we consider as sin, but sin wasn’t the action all these times. The question now is “are we still in sin?”
Well, I’ll try to wrap this all up quickly because I’ve answered the question on if we’re still in sin in my past blog. Let’s look at 2 Corinthians 5:21, “For [God] made [Christ] who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” Jesus became our sin and we became the righteousness of God; there was a divine exchange between us and Christ, out of grace we obtained Christ’s life and He became the sin, which is the spirit that caused the fall in the first place, that is, the spirit of sin. Jesus went to hell on our behalf and overcame hell and the power of sin and having spoilt principalities and its powers, God raised on the third day [Colossians 2:15; Acts 10:40].
The acts of sin still exist, but it doesn’t have power over us anymore because Jesus destroyed its power. Apart from that, we are now the righteousness of God. But the questions still remain, if we have been redeemed by the blood of Christ on the cross and are now the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, then why do we still find sin lurking around?

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.
Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
