Happy Sunday everyone,
I saw the movie Troy again recently and there was a place that I loved to hear which is “Take it, it’s yours”, this was when Achilles spoke to his men. But as I meditated on the Word recently, I got something powerful which intend sharing with you today and the quote from the movie, Troy came to my mind. What exactly am I talking about?
Being born again is not just a way of escaping hell, which is sadly the reason why many Believers give their lives to Christ. A Pastor friend of mine said being born again is about responsibility, what does this mean? As you give your life to Christ by being born again, all authority in heaven, earth and under the earth has been given unto you! It sounds like heresy right? But no it isn’t, Christ, when God raised Him up, was given all authority in heaven, earth and under the earth [ref. Matthew 28:18; Philippians 2:8-11]. One thing we forget is that we are the body of Christ, we are joint heirs with Christ; we have the same Spirit of Christ, Christ is our life! [ref. 1 Corinthians 12:27; Romans 8:17; Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 3:4] We literarily became joined with Christ, we meant not to be separated from Him unless we choose to, and by then we won’t be Christ having the power.
The question we need to ask ourselves is, ‘do we know such manner of power and authority that has been bestowed on us?’ All these authorities came to us by the matter of grace through believing in our dear Lord Jesus, but do you know the power and authority you possess? Jesus said in Acts 1:8 which says, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” The original Greek word for receive is the word “Lambano”, which according to NAS New Testament Greek Lexicon, means, “to take”.
As Christ is in charge of the heaven, earth and under the earth, He has the final say, He takes no order from anybody, and guess what? The Bible says as Christ is, so are we; the Bible also says, we are seated with Christ in the heavenly realm, it also says, we’re joint heirs, that means inseparable entity [ref. 1 John 4:17; Ephesians 2:6; Romans 8:17]. What does this mean? It means we have the final authority pertaining to anything in heaven, earth and under the earth, our words are final.
What Jesus meant in Acts 1:8 is we are to take power when the Holy Spirit comes upon us. Everything in the universe is ours, all we have to do is take and not ask, it sounds like I’m getting things wrong here, but NO, I’m not, let me explain. The scripture says God has (past tense) blessed us with every (nothing is left out) spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ [ref. Ephesians 1:3]. What does this mean? It clearly means, why would you ask God for what He has already given you, since He has given you everything, what is left for you is to TAKE IT, IT’S YOURS!
Log on tomorrow as I continue on this powerful topic
May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.
Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
