We live in a world where things happen and we call them natural event. But I’m here to tell you that there is nothing natural about anything that happens here on earth; there is always a spiritual connection for everything you do, even to the food you eat. Now, there are two forces that operate in this fallen world of ours, and they the force of truth and the force of falsehood. Apostle Peter said in 2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” But why do people choose not to repent? It is because of the spirit of falsehood which the unrepentant have chosen to follow as a result of their free moral agency. This is why the Believers are to work with God in reaching out to the lost in order to get them saved.
There are things that happen that only those with the spirit of discernment can interpret things correctly. Let’s take a look at the devil for instance; he is the most cunning of anything that exist, he is a master deceiver and a master of lies; his aim is to kill, steal and destroy thereby not allowing anyone come to repentance. As a master deceiver, he presents things that look just like the original, BUT isn’t original. So the question is how do we know which is the original and which isn’t?
Jesus gave us a quick way of detecting what is true and what is false in Matthew 7:15, “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.” This is very helpful, but how do we identify the false prophets? Jesus went further saying, “You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?” and “By their fruit you will know them.” [Matthew 7:16 and 20].
So, we know how to identify the false doctrine, but how would you know the false doctrine if you don’t know the true doctrine. Jesus showed us how He was able to differentiate further the true and the false doctrine when He was tempted. The devil as always would always bring reasons why you should take his offer, which he did to Jesus. When the devil tempted Jesus, He overcame the devil using a powerful and the only method, which is the use of the Word of God, the scriptures! Jesus was well grounded in the Word that anything that didn’t look like it was false; even when the devil quoted Psalm 91:11 and 12, Jesus didn’t still fall for it, why? It is because the devil quoted wrongly.
What the devil said was, “He shall give His angels charge over you, and in their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.” [Matthew 4:6] What was wrong with quote? Let’s take a look at the correct quote, “For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways, in their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.” [Psalm 91:11 and 12]. The devil couldn’t quote the part that was underlined because it has to do with depending on God. Anyone who doesn’t place God as a priority in depending on Him, recognising Jesus as Lord of ALL clearly isn’t from God but from the devil.
When you meditate on the Word day and night, you would easily recognise the wolf in sheep clothing, this is of course is through the help of the Holy Spirit, because as we meditate on the Word daily we strengthen our Spirit man and spirit of discernment.
Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
