From a concordance of New King James Version of the bible published by Thomas Nelson, it says faith is the “Belief or trust in someone or something. Among Christians, belief in the Holy Trinity.” When I saw this definition of faith, I liked it because for faith is all about trust, but this trust is not on what someone will do but on what someone has done! Many times what people call faith is actually hope and we don’t know that. The moment you put a thing in the future tense, it becomes hope, but when you put it in the past that affects the present, it becomes faith.
The bible makes us understand that Man is justified by faith [ref. Romans 3:28; 5:1; Galatians 2:16; 3:24]. This is because faith is accounted for righteousness [ref. Romans 4:5]; we should also remember that we are saved through faith, and faith without works is dead [ref. Ephesians 2:8; James 2:20].
In understanding that faith without works is dead, we should know that a person’s action is expected to depict the thing he believes or trust in, in other words, when you trust a thing or person and you don’t act in line with what you believe in, then your claim of belief is not true or as Apostle James puts, it is dead.
Sin was seen in the old testament as failure to do what the law says, and this was based on the work of man (the contextual use of the word work written here is different from the work of faith used by Apostle James in James 2:20). But in the New Testament whatever is not from faith is SIN [ref. Romans 14:23], because without faith it is impossible to please God [ref. Hebrews 11:6], it could also mean without trust in God, you can’t please Him and it is by faith that we believe in Jesus and become believers [John 3:16; Romans 10:9].
We are to believe in Jesus Christ totally and confess it with our mouth according to Romans 10:9. If what is confessed is true and you believe in your heart, then it would imply that your actions would fall in line with what you believe. The very act of a sincere confession and belief by mouth and heart implies faith and would imply that every action you take is based on FAITH in CHRIST. Anything contrary to this is an operation from the old nature of sin.
The point here is there can’t be faith if we can’t see the grace of God in our lives. The grace of God is not a thing we see with our physical five senses, although our belief in the grace through faith causes it to reflect in our daily lives. God has done it all through Christ, there is nothing you need that God hasn’t provided for us [ref. Matthew 6:32].
Many of us still find it hard to have faith despite all the explanation made because they look at their flaws by looking at their past mistakes; thus identifying where they missed it and dwell on it. They look around them and cannot see anything that would fit in to what they claim to believe. The truth here is every physical manifestation of faith through the Grace of God is a fruit of what you’ve been focusing on as I explained yesterday.
Your focus on the Grace of God is a seed; to believe in the Grace is faith, which is, planting the seed. Then all you need to do is to believe that you have the physical manifestation of Grace given to you [ref. Hebrews 11:1], this could be seen as watering and taking care of the seed planted which has started to grow into a tree; this comes by the meditation on the Word of God with all diligence.
It is only when you see the Grace as real that is you hope coming alive through faith that you would see the physical manifestation which everyone would see. You must understand that nothing comes by accident, your wealth is all as a result of the truth that you saw it as real even before it came to pass. In other words, you are not to rejoice over a breakthrough when it manifests physically, but the moment you see it as real. Actually nothing will manifest if you don’t see it as real.
Again I would say that you cannot sit on the fence, you must believe a thing, either you believe what God says about you or you doubt what God says about you. The truth is either way, you bring what you believe to pass, which is the fruit of the tree you planted. And God has saved you the stress by doing everything for you, all you have to do is just to rest in Him [ref. Hebrews 4:1-10].
Proverbs 16:3 says, “Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.” AMPC. This is just one of the few verses in the Bible which spells out that you just need to hand over everything to God and He would take care of you. Study to know about His Grace for and see how it corresponds with your hope, believe in the Grace He has offered you and see your life get transformed, which is the result of a closer look at faith.
Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
