There is a very popular verse in the bible, well I don’t know about you, but it is very popular to me, and that verse is taken from Matthew 6:33 which says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you”. Yes, first of all what does “…all these things…” mean? When you start reading the chapter from verse 25 down to verse 33, then you would understand what that line means. Jesus was talking about why we don’t need to worry at all for anything; like what to eat, drink or wear. One would wonder if this really made any sense, because it is a normal thing for one to think about what to eat, not to talk off a change of one’s wardrobe. Jesus called those who worry over these things people with little faith [ref. Matthew 6:30]; in other words lacking the sixth sense! Yeah, that’s right sixth sense; Jesus even went ahead to say that we shouldn’t worry about tomorrow, because today’s troubles are too much on its own. So are we supposed to sit down and look, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand (joke)? Let’s find out.
I identified the point where Jesus said those who worry about what to eat, drink, wear or even worry about the next day are those who operate with little faith. Jesus explained that it is a world’s pattern to worry over these things this is why we see these things Jesus told not to do are actually the things we do and are termed “normal”. But Jesus, when bringing to today’s world how He asked us to live in verse 33 of Matthew 33, wants us to live as the 007 agent, James Bond! I’m sure you’re like, ‘huh’? Yep, allow me to elaborate.
James Bond is an agent who is sent on a mission, all what he needs are provided to him, be it guns, cars, shelter, plane etc., all are provided to him. But you would notice that Bond won’t be offered any provision until he accepts the mission and focuses on it and is ready to follow instructions given. His focus is in achieving the mission and not on the fancy cars or guns or whatever, why is that? It is so because as Bond focuses on the mission, when he gets to a place where he would be in need of a car in achieving the mission, a car gets provided by those who sent him on the mission; if he gets to a point where he would need a gun in continuing the mission, guns would be provided.
The point here is that if Bond’s focus is on getting cars, guns, shelter, planes etc., and not on the mission, he wouldn’t have gotten anything, because provision is made WHEN YOU NEED THEM. And you would know what you need ONLY when you FOCUS on the mission given. This also applies to Believers, God has given us a mandate here on earth to achieve, we weren’t sent here to just occupy space without achieving anything; we are to seek the Lord to know what He has called us to do, this is using the sixth sense. When we get the mission we are to achieve, we are to listen to the sixth sense on what exactly we are to do. As we do these things, what we need in achieving the mission are provided by God.
As Believers, we are not to do anything unless we were asked to do so by the Holy Spirit who is the sixth sense that we are to follow as we focus on our mission here on earth. The bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:20 that, “Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.” We work for God and not the company we are in, if you follow the Holy Spirit and He sent you there, then you are there to achieve His mission. All the cars, houses, jobs, partner etc., that we receive are given to us basically for one purpose, and that is to achieve His mission. Or have you not noticed that when God sends you somewhere He makes provisions, whether cars or houses etc., they are to achieve His mission; this is what “…seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…” is all about. The all other things would come only when you focus on the mission God has called you for, and the provision helps you complete the mission and not to enjoy and forget yourself. Yes, we would enjoy ourselves, but that is the secondary purpose.
Jesus again said in John 17:16, “They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.” We are here to achieve a mission. If you’re a Believer and you lack, it implies you are not doing what He asked you to do. I am not talking about being a billionaire, what I’m talking about is you needs being met. God will NEVER let any of His children lack. You may look at two Believers in terms of physical wealth, the first may have a lot while the other may have so much, but you would find out that they both do not lack. It is just like the manna God gave the children of Israel, as each took what he could take they were all satisfied equally [Exodus 16:17-18].
Focus on the mission God has called you on earth for and see the wonders of God as you unlock the windows of provision over your life, we serve the more than enough God. All these on a platter of Gold for Believers.
Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
