Learn To Listen

A brand new life is what is received when a person gets born again. This new Spirit is the life of Christ Jesus [which I have established several times]. This new life isn't a life we receive in order to lead ourselves, if this were so, then there really wasn't any change, as it would lead to the same old failure. And what exactly is the point of saying the Spirit of Christ Jesus was received, if not because He is our new life, and by new life, He is our leading. So, how are you led?

Romans 8:14 says "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God." So, it is clear that it is the Holy Spirit who leads us. But many people claim they don't know when it is the Holy Spirit leading them or another Spirit.

Firstly, the scriptures has made us understand that we should test all spirits to know if they are of God or not, (ref.: 1 John 4:1). The Spirit of the God would always testify that He is the Spirit of Jesus Christ, which a false spirit would NEVER DARE do.

Apostle Paul, after asking who was speaking, the voice said He is Jesus, (ref.: Acts 9:5). No false Spirit can ever dare do that, unless it wants to die before its time.

My focus here is not just in the identification of whose speaking, but on the concern that many don't know how to listen, not to talk of determining who is speaking.

One thing has been made clear, which is that those who are born of God have received the Holy Spirit in them, who is the Spirit of Jesus. So, it would only imply that when He speaks your new Spirit affirms to it.

There is a language of the Spirit, and even the devil can't imitate that language. It [referring to the useless devil] could try to imitate, but those who know their God would always determine the difference, ref.: John 10:4-5).

God in Genesis [before the fall of man] always came down to fellowship with Adam, so Adam only knew one type of language, and that was God's own language. So, the moment Adam said he was afraid, God knew immediately that Adam had eaten of the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, just through his language. Adam spoke a language that wasn't of God, and since God was the only one who fellowshiped with him, it would only mean that Adam got knowledge from another source.

So, in order to listen, you must know how the Holy Spirit speaks, which is how Jesus speaks. So, it all boils down to knowing how Jesus speaks.

John 1:1 and Revelations 19:13 made it clear that Jesus is the Word of God. So, when we pick the Bible, we pick the word of God right? But how can we tell Jesus is leading us as we study the scriptures? This question is important because you can bring out anything from the Bible.

The scriptures says Jesus is the Word of God. And our concern is with who Jesus is right now alone, and nothing else. Our focus should be why Jesus came in the first place, and in summary, He came save us from the wrath of God, and to reconcile us to God through His resurrection by giving us a brand new Spirit, which is His Spirit, that is also the Spirit of God.

Remember, our focus is ONLY on who Jesus is right now. We understand that all authority has been given unto Jesus, in heaven and on earth, (ref.: Matthew 28:18), and that at the name of Jesus, every knee would bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is Lord, in heaven, on earth, and under the earth, both now and for eternity, (ref.: Philippians 2:9-11). And this same power has He given to you being His church, (Ref.: Ephesians 1:22-23). This is established, as we understand this is who Christ Jesus is. He has won the battle, all we are to do is to maintain all that He has done by constantly reminding ourselves of who He is, and that we function in that exact authority because we are joint heirs with Him, (Ref.: Romans 8:17). We are not fighting a battle. What we are doing is to maintain that Jesus has won the battle when the devil deceives us that we have a battle to fight.

Now, as we meditate on the scriptures, all we are to do is to look for the finished works of Jesus in every verse of the Bible. Jesus is the only one we are to look for, and this is where the Holy Spirit comes in to interpret the scriptures to us, by bringing Christ Jesus out of every verse, and aligning it to our daily living.

Again, we are to pray to God to know and recognise when the Holy Spirit is speaking, because He could come by audible voice, wind, breeze, someone speaking to you, or anything. In many cases He drops His word in our heart. But as you keep on meditating on His word, you would know His language, and your Spirit would discern the leading of the Holy Spirit who MUST BE in line with who Jesus is RIGHT NOW.

This is why quiet times are very important because there are no distractions, and we can commune with God. Jesus Himself said, His sheep hears His voice and they know it, but they don't listen to the voice of the robber or stranger, why? The strangers voice is not the voice of the Lord! (Ref.: John 10:4-5).

This is where we need to work on—listening. This is because if you cannot listen, you can't effectively be led by Holy Spirit.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
