Operating With The Spiritual Sense (INTRO)

We have learnt in school that we have five senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch. We see all these senses very active in our lives. In fact, they determine how we judge things that happen in our lives. Whatever these senses bring, we count them as real. And this is where we need to be very careful, because our senses can create what gets into our thought process.

For a while now, I've focused on the authority of Jesus, and how He in His fulness [which includes His authority] become our life the moment we give our lives to Him, as we become one with Him. Now, I kept on saying we should focus on who Jesus is, because as He is seated at the right of God in His fulness of authority, we have become.

I also said that the devil comes to deceive us, deceiving and lying to our soul that we don't have what Jesus has given us, just by single distraction from our hold on the finished works of Christ Jesus. But the question now is, what has the devil been using to get through to us, that there are times we fall, or we keep confessing the word of God in order to stand strong? It has been using the senses. The devil has been using our five senses to deceive us.

When you see a lion running towards you, without thinking, you run for safety, right? If you hear several gun shots around you simultaneously, you take off. The same with every other senses. Our senses have been the foundation of our deciding factor. This is why we hold on to Christ by faith because in order to activate the authority of Christ Jesus, they are not decided by our physical senses!

So, when your physical senses tell you there is still pain in your body, and Jesus tells you other wise, without having a physical sense to guide your decision, this becomes an issue in terms of belief in what Jesus said. This is where the sense of faith comes in.

Man wakes up very early in the morning to get to work, sees how he could make more money. He gets bothered about his needs; what to eat and what to drink, all because his senses has been set as a foundation for him to run about to get things sorted, whereas he doesn't know he is a pawn in the hands of the devil as it fills the mind of man with fear, in order for him not to believe the finished works of Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:5 says, "For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who  live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit." Also, 2 Corinthians 5:7 says, "For we walk by faith, not by sight." So, it means that there is a Spiritual sense or should I say, there are Spiritual senses that those born of God should abide by, or else the physical senses would determine our lives for us, because this is what the devil uses to get to man.

So, what exactly is the Spiritual sense or senses? This is a very deep issue we have to know, in order for us not to sense with the sense of the world, but of the Spirit?

I said faith is a Spiritual sense. Now, since the scripture has made it clear that those born of God are to walk by faith and not by sight (physical five senses), then it would imply that faith allows us to tap into the Spirit realm to live our lives, okay. But this is easier said than done, because man is used to receiving things through the medium of his senses, so, how does faith feel like, or how can it be so clear that a person could just drop the senses of this world and pick up the sense of the Spirit?

My reason for saying this is that the things of the Spirit aren't figures of speech, they as real as the things we see right here on earth. When breeze blows, we feel it. To say we hope to feel the breeze when it is blowing won't make any sense. Likewise, the things of the Spirit isn't in a state of hope, but a state of reality, and this is basically because of the finished works of Jesus.

When Jesus said on the cross that it is finished, and three days later He resurrected, and is now seated at the right hand of God, it implies to us that it is done. And this is a state of rest as in Genesis, the rest God took on the seventh day after creation, to imply that it is a done deal, (ref.: Genesis 2:3). Which is in line with the rest in Christ which we are asked to labour to enter or maintain, (ref.: Hebrews 4:11). This can only be acquired through the Spiritual sense.

So, let's take a look at faith as a Spiritual sense, in order to establish the reality of the Spiritual realm as real through the spiritual sense, that the deceit of the physical senses used by the devil becomes so insignificant as we live our lives right here on earth.

To take a look at this, log on tomorrow as I look into Operating With The Spiritual Sense.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
