Going over again and again on the things that matters, especially when it burns in my heart to do so, things I repeat. I believe it serves as reminder on staying strong, and not being distracted. So, today, I would look at rest.
Everything is at a state of rest, meaning your thoughts processes are a state of rest. What your senses hold on to is at a state of rest. But when a thing is at a state of rest, the question would be, what are you resting on?
Whatever you rest on determines your thoughts process, which eventually determines your life. Yes, many must have heard about this, but the point here is where are we actually resting on?
The devil comes with lies, and its sole aim is to steal, kill and destroy, (ref.: John 10:10). This is done by bringing up images through our physical senses for us to believe, the moment we believe them we are holding on to the lies of the devil, thus, resting on its deceit.
So, what are the lies of the devil? Among many, some include sickness, diseases, infirmities, poverty, guilt, and more. And when it brings up these things that your senses feel are real, they manifest. But one thing is clear, they all don't rest on Christ Jesus, and His finished works.
Now, this is what Jesus says, you are no longer sick, you are healthy, wealthy, filled with success, God's favour, you are the temple of the Holy Spirit, (1 Corinthians 6:19); as Jesus is, so are you in this world, (ref.: 1John 4:17); no weapon formed against you can prosper, (ref.: Isaiah 54:17); you are Anointed by God, (ref.: 1 John 2:27); you were created by God for good works, (ref.: Ephesians 2:10); you are blessed with every spiritual blessings in heavenly places, (ref.: Ephesians 1:3), and lots more.
Why did Jesus tell us, these are who we have become and more? He said this because this is what He came to the world to do, to free man from the bondage of sin, and redeem man back to God. And anyone who believes in Jesus by confessing Him as Lord, and believing in our heart that God raised Him from the dead gets translated from the kingdom of darkness to the His kingdom, (ref.: Colossians 1:13). And in so doing inherit all that Jesus is.
So, when we become born again, we become all that Jesus is, and this is what Jesus wants us to rest on, sort of making us rest assured that all that He is, we have become. And remember, He doesn't just say the truth, He is the truth Himself.
So, when the devil brings a lie to us, just remember who Jesus is, then be rest assured, and by doing that, our thoughts are shaped to rest in all that Jesus is, also remembering that all authority belongs to Him.
You can rest on who Jesus isn't, that is just the summary. It's not about what we've done, but what He's done. All we are to do is to believe in Him, (ref.: John 6:29). To rest is not to be double minded, it is something you have no alternative to, it is to have COMPLETE trust in that a thing. So, you have become all that He is right now, just rest on that, and see Him manifest in your daily living.
Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
