Happy New week everyone,
In a closer look at the greatest commandment in the Bible in my last write-up, I was able to identify that the power of love which God has given us in Christ Jesus when expressing ourselves should be used as our financial currency. I went further by saying that giving in love is the financial currency we are meant to use here on earth according to the original design by God. So today, I intend to explain how giving in love should be our financial currency.
God didn’t create money, but man did after the fall of Adam. Now, as those who have received Christ as their Lord, how do you think they are meant to live here on earth? They are meant to live as Ambassadors here on earth of which their pay doesn’t come from the way the world do their things but in a different way. As Jesus prayed for His disciples in John 17, in verse 16 He said they in the world but not of the world. This He also meant to those born under Him, that is, those who have accepted Christ as Lord.
Those who are in Christ are to save the world through a total transformation. As I said yesterday, the world as it is, is selfish and want things for themselves, but that wasn’t the system God established from the beginning. So, how did Adam do it in the beginning? God gave to him the garden and everything on earth in love. We were all created in the image of God and are meant to live just like Him. Now since Adam fell, he lost the connecting ability to act just as God, but Jesus has brought this connection with God back, so we are to live just as God by giving! So, how can giving be our currency?
Money came about as a source of exchange to get a thing. Since Adam fall, man lived in scarcity and possessed things for himself which he laboured for, so if anyone needed to get something from the man who had laboured, he needs to bring something that is worth what has been laboured for in exchange for that thing, this was such a life of scarcity.
Scarcity is a creation of the fallen nature, which implies that you will continue to have scarcity if you remain in the system of the fallen world which is the world we live in. So, if this the case, how are we supposed to live? To those who are in Christ, that is having a brand new life of God aren’t affected by scarcity. Therefore, those who are in Christ are to establish the new system which is the system of giving!
First of all, we should understand that there are laws governing the existence of this world and the true law of this world in finance is the principle of giving in love. Some smart ones even without being in Christ understand this principle, but what we must understand is that giving has to be done in love which is sacrificial, in other words, we should not give expecting something in return, although we would receive later, but the giving should be done with the intention of meeting needs or getting things done.
Jesus when explaining why it is not right to judge talked about giving. He said in Luke 6:38, “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
Now in loving your neighbour as yourself or as Christ loves you, you think of your neighbour first who is in need. You could share with your neighbour or go as far as giving totally to that neighbour in need depending on the level of your faith. That which should always cross your mind is that there is no scarcity and the Lord would meet your need. Tomorrow, I’ll explain how the principle of sowing and reaping operates right in front of you.
May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.
Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
