Hello everyone,
Many of us pray to God and expect answers to our prayers, but there are times we don’t get any answers to our prayers and we wonder if God really cared. I used to face this same challenge in my life at a point in time, I felt God’s rules were too much that I couldn’t identify what He wanted me to do that would allow Him to answer my prayer. It wasn’t until He used the farmer’s story before I understood God always wanted to answer my prayers but I was the one who stood in His way. So what is this farmer’s story?
A farmer picked a particular seed which He would take about six months before its harvest after planting, but six months after planting the farmer was not even close to harvest, what went wrong? The farmer did not make up his mind on where he wanted to plant his seed. Sometimes, he would plant the seed at a spot and tomorrow he would dig up the seed and plant it at another spot, feeling that spot was better for it. He did this many times during the six months period that the seed didn’t germinate properly and wasn’t growing well, and why was that? It was because the farmer kept interrupting growth process of the crop he planted. It very simple, there won’t be growth for the crop until the farmer makes up his mind where he wants to plant the crop and leaves it there, likewise, there won’t be answers to our prayers until we are sincere with ourselves when we tell God something.
There are times we would tell God we would do a thing at a particular period but we eventually do not do so. What we fail to realise is that our actions serve as seeds to the result we want to get. If we don’t make up our mind about a thing, how would God take you seriously? So, it is not because God doesn’t want to bless you, but it is you who have prevented Him from answering your prayer.
God doesn’t answer prayers of His children until they make up their mind. There is a reward for consistency which is the answered prayer. Periods differ from each other, but no matter the period of time, we must be consistent to the end at a particular request made.
Faith requires consistency, you cannot continue to toss to and fro with your faith. God cannot answer without you being serious about what you want. Proverbs 22:29 says, “Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before unknown men.” What does this mean? Don’t expect to get a result if you are consistent with a particular thing, in this case, a thing well done. For God, being sincere to ourselves is what He wants to see. We should say a thing and do a different thing and expect to get a result, from which one?
Paul in addressing the Corinthians spoke of how the church grew in a region, he said, He planted, while Apollos another apostle watered and it was then God gave the increase [ref.: 1 Corinthians 3:6]. Why? It was because God was sure about what they wanted. God did not create this earth to operate in a state of anarchy, which would imply that God set certain laws governing this earth.
Also, there are times God wants us to get mature in certain areas before He grants us answers to our prayers. And don’t it wrong, He has given us a counselor to guide us till perfection, He has also appointed certain people ordained by Him to bring us up to speed to know God through faith, He would never leave us alone.
So, if you pray to God over a thing and you aren’t seeing any result, before you start to complain to God, check yourself if you’ve been true to your words, so as to give God a clear view of your request. He is always there to answer us, you just have to be sincere with yourself and to God.
Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
