It Was Never You

Happy new month everyone, and happy Sunday to you all,

Has it ever happened to you when you go through a thing and you felt you understood it, only for you to take a look at that thing casually and more understanding streams in and you’re in great awe over how you were able to look deeper into that thing, something like that happened to me when I went through Psalm 37:4 which says, “Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” The Message Bible puts this verse thus, “Keep company with GOD, get in on the best.” I’ve written on this verse before, and if I can recall correctly, what I said was that we are to focus on the mission which God has called us, and in so doing we would start receiving the desires of our heart. This is true, but I got a deeper understanding of this verse which I would love to share with you all.

To delight yourself in the Lord is simply to keep company with God, and in so doing, you’ll get in on the best. Now, many would look at this at God providing their needs, the things they’ve always longed for, but this verse goes deeper than this. To keep company with God is to have an intimate relationship with Him, in other words, as you more spend time with Him, you become Him, thus allowing Him into your spirit, soul and body. He is the all in all and you only get the best by becoming the best.

Let me break the last statement further, as I explained in yesterday’s write-up, the moment you become born again, the spirit of Jesus becomes your new spirit, but in order for the new spirit to operate in your life, the soul which contains the mind, will and emotions need to be aware of who they are now, or who they take orders from, there need to be proper study and meditation on who this new leader is, this why Romans 12:2 emphasises on renewal of the mind at every point in time. As this is done you are allowing Jesus not you to be in charge.

Many would think it a change of your mindset or reorientation for the same mind to take charge, but the truth is as you keep meditating on the word or on who this new spirit of Jesus is, it is not the same soul that would be there, it would be Jesus that would take over the mind, will and emotions completely that the you that you know won’t be found because that would now define categorically in your attitude that you are dead and your new life is Jesus.

What is my point exactly? My point here is that it is not meant to be us but Jesus working through us. Sounds familiar right, but do we understand it? Paul in Philippians 4:13 that he can do all things through Christ who strengthens him, in other words, as Christ who is in charge of you want to do anything, it is not with your intellect or strength that things are done, but with His, because He is completely in charge, He knows all things and all authority is has been given unto Him. Your books are nothing near His unlimited wealth of knowledge, or why do you think Peter and John became intellectually sound even without going to school? It was Jesus who had taken charge of their soul that was functioning, not them, it has been Jesus and it will always be Jesus only when you let go and allow Him to take charge completely and this is what we go through every day meditating on who He is in order to trust Him all the more.

What challenges are you going through in life? Once you have become born again with the gift of the Holy Spirit in you, all you have to do is allow the Holy Spirit take charge of your being and see your problems no more, just trust Him.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
