Do You Really Know What Grace Means?

Hello everyone,

Do you know what grace is? Do you understand what it does to you the moment you get a hold of it through faith? Many must have heard of what grace can do in their lives, but have they really sat down to take another look at what they’ve actually heard? These are what I have for you today.

I’ve heard people say things like it was my seed that made me get that car or the house or that job and so on. Those who think like this have belittled what God has offered us. I am not saying God hasn’t provided all these things, but if we really understand what God has given to us as grace through faith in Christ Jesus, then we would know that all what we got were just keeping a strong positive mind which allowed us to get what we got, in other words they were just self-effort.

Let’s take a look at the popular Ephesians 3:20, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” the Message version put it thus, “God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.” What God has given to us cannot be comprehended by our own human mind, but many have unknowingly belittled His ability and get only a fragment of His gift of grace.

What is grace? In very simple terms, it could be referred to as free and undeserved favour from God. An unmerited divine assistance given to us through Christ. We don’t deserve anything God has given to us, it has nothing to do with your degrees or how long you’ve worked. It only has to do with your belief.

Let me make it clearer, all the knowledge, wisdom, and getting the best grades or being the best at what we do are not enough to get this grace which God has offered us, which is why it is called grace. So, it then makes sense that what we do, whether in giving to anyone has nothing to do with the blessings we get from God because they are still not good enough. What God looks at is your belief in the grace which leads to your obedience of faith. Doing the work is not the issue, but obeying to do it and doing it is actually what unleashes the wealth of grace.

What is done might not be done by an expert in the eyes of man normally, but because you just listened to Him by doing it you unleashed the blessing. An example is Simon Peter the fisherman in the book of Luke 5:1-11, he had toiled all night and it was obvious that there were no fish, and here comes Jesus asking him to launch out into the deep. It didn’t make any sense but he obeyed and caught a net breaking, boat sinking catch of fish which wasn’t as a result of his expertise, but just because he obeyed. Peter could not claim that it was his ability that got him the fish. This is how grace operates, glory goes only to God and not a drop to yourself.

You could give seeds, but they have to be out of obedience from God and not because you saw a man doing it then you followed suit, this is not how it works. The obedience of faith would always get you more than what you bargained for and it is not your abilities that got you all these, it is simply knowing what grace is and doing what God told you to do and that unleashes this grace. The question now is, how well do you know grace? And do you truly believe it? When you do it affects your entire lifestyle, how you reason, how you live and everything about you.

How well do you know grace? And do you truly believe it? These questions are very important if we ever want to live and unleash the unlimited power of grace. Log on tomorrow as I take a closer look at these very important questions.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
