Does God Really Overlook Our Transgressions?

Happy weekend everyone,

Yesterday, I explained that Jesus through His death, burial, and resurrection has redeemed us, and He is the one God looks at when the devil comes to accuse us. Jesus who is our advocate and propitiation for our sins stands as Mercy in person, the one God looks at and understands all sins were placed on Jesus and the promise God made in the new covenant that our transgressions and iniquities He will by no means remember. With this, I brought up a question which I believe many would come up which is since God said He would by no means remember our iniquities and transgressions, does that mean we should not be afraid when we fall into sin because the big brother’s got it?

What we need to understand is that under the new covenant, that which we call sin isn’t sin at all. I explained in one of my write-up that the act of sin comes from you not doing anything with faith. If you look at Romans 14:23b, it says, “…for whatever is not from faith is sin.” Also, James 4:17 says, “Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin”, and this ‘good’ is faith! You are no longer under a covenant where you live out of hypocrisy, thinking you could keep it but couldn’t keep it. But this new covenant comes with a new spirit, the spirit of God/Jesus which is the spirit of perfection. Your physical person appears to be far away from perfection, but perfection is what God sees, because you have been reborn under Christ who is perfect, and in so doing by faith you declare that you are perfect and are to live the perfect life.

The scriptures are the starting point where you find who you are right now in the spirit, the Holy Spirit explains and interprets who you are, He also guides you in all that you do. It is when you don’t live by faith, which is allowing unbelief to dwell in your heart by not believing what God has made you, this now is sin, why? It is because it is not in line with who God is.

There are laws of faith, and the law of faith is to believe and receive all that God has given to you, which include blessings, divine favour, supernatural health, wisdom beyond human level, insights, the God kind of life and much more. This is why the scriptures say the just or righteous shall live by faith, [ref. Habakkuk 2:4; Romans 1:17; Galatians 3:11; Hebrews 10:38].

Your act of faith starts from your heart which then grows out into your behaviour, your way of life, God looks at our hearts and nothing else, because once the foundation is right, whatever is placed on it follow suit, which is following whatever the foundation is. We all grow in faith, learning to accept the whole truth completely as a way of life and this is hearing, studying and meditating on the word of God. Also, praising God and speaking in tongues, all these help to build and boost our faith.

Now, when our focus or our heart is on Jesus the grace which has been given to us, our lives becomes refreshed and move closer and closer towards God’s, so God has shown us the way to greatness, if you don’t walk in it, nothing good would come out of it, and it is not a punishment from God, because He doesn’t keep any record of transgressions anymore. Also, you can’t say, you didn’t know which road to take because that is why God sent the Holy Spirit to guide us in our walk here on earth. The issue is really with you, not with God or your neighbour or people from your village as some people think, it’s all you, you, you, God has done His part, it’s left to you to believe and receive or continue suffering. The choice is yours.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
