Son's and not Slaves

Hi everyone,

Yesterday, my write-up was based on Romans 8:9-11 where we were able to understand that as the Holy Spirit lives in us, He vitalises, restores life to our body. As the soul gets transformed by the new Spirit of God in us, the transformed soul [mind, will, and emotion] affects the body, as the body reflects whom the soul follows. Today, I would go further, covering verses 12-17 of Romans 8.

Just as I have emphasised, once you have the Spirit of God/Christ [Holy Spirit] in you, you then live according to the Holy Spirit and not of the flesh, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” (Romans 8:14). The Message version of Romans 8:15-17 says,

“This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, Papa?” God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are. We know who he is, and we know who we are: Father and children. And we know we are going to get what’s coming to us—an unbelievable inheritance! We go through exactly what Christ goes through. If we go through the hard times with him, then we’re certainly going to go through the good times with him!”

In understanding this new life, we need to know that this new life is not a spirit of bondage like the life Jesus set us free from, rather, through this new life we have received a Spirit of adoption, the Spirit of sonship, this is what makes us Sons of God, and Jesus the firstborn. As a result of this we are joint heirs with Christ, as God our Father sees us as one with Christ, thus we have every inheritance Jesus has. Whatever Jesus goes through, we would also go through the same thing. You need to always remember this part your new life, the moment you receive Jesus as Lord with the Holy Spirit as your new life, you seize to be an ordinary person, you are just as Jesus is and you need to be conscious of that, you are a Son and not a slave of God.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
