What Have You Really Inherited?

Welcome again dear readers to my blog. Today I will answer the questioned I posed at the end of my last post, which was: So, if we now carry His personality, what next, what should go along with it?

In my last post, I looked into 2 Corinthians 5:17 which says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." We now understand that the person who is born again or is now a new creation isn't the same person in anyway as the former, not just because of sin alone, but also because of the Spirit/personality.

The old person had the life of the first Adam that inherited the Spirit of sin, while the new person has the life of the last Adam—Jesus, who has the Spirit of God who is inherited as the new life. So, what really happens after being born again?

Many would say, study the scriptures more, attend church services, be nice to people, give to the Lord, and do not forget the poor, and so on like that. But are these the signs that you're born again or to make it even clearer, are these the signs that you carry God Himself in you as your life?

What every Son and Daughter of God should know are what they have inherited. We know we have inherited the Spirit of Jesus who is the very same Spirit of God. So, what is contained in the Spirit of God?

The first question is to know the very thing that is contained in the old nature which the first Adam inherited.

The first Adam inherited sin, which is the sin nature. And this sin brought about death. Romans 5:12 says, "Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned." Death is what we all inherited when we were born the first time.

So, what is associated with death?

Sickness, poverty, disease, old age, lack of peace, depression, pain, aches, wrinkles, grey hair, and so on. All these lead to death which is the end result. So, there was a need for humanity to be saved, because no matter how many sacrifices we offered to God, we all had the sin nature in us that had to be removed. And the only way was for us to die. But God had a better way.

The better and only way by God

Romans 5:19 says, "One man’s disobedience opened the door for all humanity to become sinners. So also one man’s obedience opened the door for many to be made perfectly right with God and acceptable to him." TPT. Jesus came as the only man without the sin nature born of a woman. He was the sacrifice for our atonement (ref.: Hebrews 9:22).

Now, because of Jesus, we are forgiven, and even more because of His resurrection a brand new life began through Him as the last Adam, the Adam without death but life!

What did we inherit by being under Jesus—the last Adam?

The very first thing is life! I cannot emphasise it enough. There is no death under Jesus. Many on the contrary think it is till the second coming we can receive this gift of eternal life. But even right here on earth, we gain access to eternal life. I'll tell you how soon.

As I have said before, Jesus told us exactly what eternal life is in John 17:3, "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." To know God is to become one with Him, and this happens when you become born again.

2 Corinthians 5:17 uses the phase, "If anyone is in Christ..." For one to be in Christ, as I explained in my last post, is for one to be ingrafted with Jesus, to become one person with Him. And when you become one person with life, how can you die?

Apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:4-5, "So, while living in this “tent,” we groan under its burden, not because we want to die but because we want these new bodies. We crave for all that is mortal to be swallowed up by eternal life. ⁵And this is no empty hope , for God himself is the one who has prepared us for this wonderful destiny. And to confirm this promise, he has given us the Holy Spirit, like an engagement ring, as a guarantee." TPT.

Those born of God groan to gain this new bodies. Now, the groaning here is a Spiritual form of groaning, sort of like speaking in tongues. These saints weren't referring to the new bodies they would receive when they die and later receive when Jesus returns. They were referring to their Spirit level to get to the point of swallowing up their very mortal bodies by eternal life, which comes with the process of being one with God (when their soul completely submit to their Spirit).

Apostle Paul went further to say this was no empty hope as God has prepared us for this wonderful destiny by giving us the Holy Spirit as a guarantee of it happening, (Explain further in my next post).

So, as death was inherited in the old life, life is what we inherit in this new life. Which means we are not to fall sick, grow old or wrinkle. We are not to have disease of be poor. The reason why all these are expected to happen is because we have become one with Jesus. And all that Jesus is, is who we have become. Just the way all what the first Adam was were all we were in the old life.

Eternal life starts the moment you become a new creature, but growth is what determines the expression of who Jesus is in how we live.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
