The New Can Never Be The Old

Hi everyone,

You know there’s nothing that intrigues me more than getting revelations from my Father—GOD Almighty. I'm really not bothered if some of you readers have gotten the understanding of what I put down because the word of God is new and refreshing every morning.

Today, I would look into a very popular Bible verse, which is 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." Let us pay attention to some key terms in the verse such as "new creation", "passed away" and "all things have become new". I would do a break down on what these terms mean.

First: New creation

To say something is a new creation implies that it never existed before. It doesn't mean an improvement, or else it would have been stated as improvement. Surprising again, it doesn’t mean metamorphosis like a level of transformation from one stage to another. What it simply means is the creation you see is brand new—something that never existed before.

Second: Passed away

To say something has passed away is for a thing to cease to exist, or for a thing to come to an end or complete stop.

Third: All things have become new

To say something has become new signifies a rebirth. Like something is not just under a new management alone, but also implies the entire structure and system is brand new, not relating to the previous structure that existed there before. Therefore, having no business or relationship with whatever stood in the place the new structure has been erected.

So, what is my point in all these?

When a person or anyone is in Christ, the person is a new creation or creature. For a person to be in Christ, implies being ingrafted into Christ. In other words to become one person with Christ. The person you knew before has ceased existing. And a brand new person you've never seen now occupies the place of the person. And this new person is Jesus as Galatians 2:20 makes us understand.

Another thing we need to understand is that the new person is in no way the old person. And why is that? This is because their Spirits—personalities are different. As 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 puts thus, "For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; ¹⁵and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again."

What the verses above imply is that we all died with Christ on the cross because He died for us all. Therefore, to those who would live by being rebirthed (born again), they live not as themselves, because they are born afresh as Him—Jesus, as they carry His Spirit as their new life. By doing so, they don't live for themselves, but for Him who died for them because as 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, they have been ingrafted; become one; become joint heirs (ref.: Romans 8:17) with Him.

Wow, this single verse is much deeper than how I've tried to simplify it. I pray the Holy Spirit breaks it down further for your understanding.

So, if we now carry His personality, what next, what should go along with it?

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
