This Is Why You're Righteous

Hello everyone,

If I ask you if you are righteous, I could guess your possible answer, which would be “No” or “I’m not”. But do you know that you are righteous? Now, when I say do you know, I’m referring to every one of you on earth. It sounds strange or incorrect, right? Wrong, now let me tell you why everyone is righteous.

When Jesus died on the cross, He didn’t die for only a selected few or a set of people. Jesus died for the whole world, (ref.: John 3:16). The Amplified Bible puts 2 Corinthians 5:21 thus, “For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].”

Jesus Himself was the only One who was perfect before God, no matter how much we tried to be perfect before God we couldn’t attain perfection, in other words, we were not righteous, only Jesus was. Now, because we needed another life to survive, and righteousness to stand before God, Jesus had to become the lamb without blemish for the whole world, in exchange for His righteousness. This was how we got His righteousness. But one thing we must understand is that God gives, and it is left for us to take. In other words, it is our choice to receive what God has offered us, which is why in attaining the righteousness of God is to believe in the One who gave it to you because the righteousness of God is Jesus Himself. You cannot receive or use what you don’t believe in; Jesus and righteousness are one and the same. Which is why John 3:18 says, “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

God made everyone on earth righteous, but it is left to us to receive this righteousness or to reject it, and it is as simple as confessing with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead that you receive the righteousness of God, (ref.: Romans 10:9). This is the way because that was how Jesus gave us His righteousness in exchange for our sins. Therefore, confessing and believing what is in Romans 10:9 is an attestation and an acknowledgment of what Jesus did by giving you His righteousness, which is actually Himself.

We must know that we are not righteous by what we did, but by what He did, which is by grace lest any man should boast, (ref.: Ephesians 2:8).

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
