Sometimes What You Consider Right Is Actually Wrong

Hello everyone,

Proverbs 16 caught my attention when I saw verses which are of great importance in our day to day activities. Let us not deceive ourselves, if everything you use has an inventor or creator, we shouldn’t then be foolish to say the earth or the universe has no creator or there is no God. The level of chemical balance on the earth, the physiological accuracy cannot just be all by itself unless there was or is someone behind it. He has revealed Himself in many ways and has written a book by giving revelations to over 40 writers, and to as many as have believed in His existence and have received Him as Lord of their lives. I just decided to go down this route before going through what I have today, which as I said is based on verses in Proverbs 16. They may be familiar to you, but the word of God is always new every time we go through it again, and that’s what makes it fun.

Proverbs 16:25 says, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” I looked at this verse in other rendition of which two caught my attention. The Message Bible puts Proverbs 16:25 thus, “There’s a way that looks harmless enough; look again—it leads straight to hell.” The second rendition which caught my attention is the Contemporary English Version which puts the same verse thus, “Sometimes what seems right is really a road to death.” It was there and then I wondered what things could appear as right to us, but are actually things leading to hell, in other words, it implies they are things we really don’t know are wrong but we count them as right. Whatever could be of such semblance to this? It was then I remembered Romans 8:6, and what does it say?

Before going to Romans 8:6, verse 5 of Romans 8 say, “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.” Then verse 6 says, “For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” The Amplified Bible puts Romans 8:6 thus, “Now the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death [death that comprises all the miseries arising from sin, both here and hereafter]. But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever].”

To be carnally minded is that which many considers as right, but it leads to hell or death. What does it mean to be carnally minded or having the mind of flesh? The Amplified Bible says the mind of the flesh is using sense and reason without the Holy Spirit. In other words, living your life without being led by the Holy Spirit/Jesus. Why is this important? This is important because when you live your life without being led by the Holy Spirit, you would eventually do that which is not in line with the ways of God, thus doing what is against the mandate God has for you.

With all these, Proverbs 16:3 say, “Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.” AMP. What this verse means is that plans cross our minds every now and then, but before carrying it out, it is important to present these plans of your before the Lord, He alone would then allow whatever you have as your plans to conform with His thoughts, which would then be agreeable with His will. Now, when you roll your thoughts to the Lord, how exactly to do know if what is committed to the Lord is agreeable to His will? To find out, log on next time as I elaborate more on the question posed.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!

Log on next time.
