Your Active and Powerful Words

Happy New Week everyone,

Do you watch what you say? Do you watch the words that come out of your mouth at all? Our words are very powerful and they determine where we end up in life. I have written on words more than once, but it is important to know why we shouldn’t play with our words. And this is my focus today.

The popular verse in Proverbs 18:21 which the Message Bible puts thus, “Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose.” Every word you say is a command, and when you direct words to yourself, what you say affects you. The truth is that words are like seeds that are sown from time to time, and as seeds are, there is a time for harvest. So, what do you want to harvest?

Jesus spoke of idle words, where He said He would judge every idle word we speak (ref.: Matthew 12:36), thus words without any purpose, so that would imply that you don’t make any careless jokes, for they would be judged. Why is this important?

Words are meant to be used as commands, as God gave Man authority over the earth, it was his words that executed such command, and it has to have a purpose. Just as God used words to build the entire universe, Man is meant to do the same here on earth. But as the first Man was corrupted, a new Man emerged having all authority in heaven and on earth—Jesus.

Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energising, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest part our nature], exposing and sifting and analysing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.” Amplified Bible. This verse explains the ability of the words possessed by Jesus Himself who Himself has given every Son of God the exact same authority, as they dwell in Him, for out of Him we utilise what Hebrews 4:12 says. But whether one is a Son of God or not, the words you speak commands, it is just that the words of Christ Jesus have greater authority than any other word spoken.

What we don’t understand is when the doctor says something bad about our health, we have the power to counter it using the words of Christ in line with Hebrews 4:12 which is also in line with what we received through His resurrection. But remember, our words are like seeds, the more we water it, the more we help to eventually make it manifest, that which has already been manifested in the Spirit, which we declare as true and real.

We must have heard of ‘the finished works of Christ Jesus.’ Now when something is called finished, it implies a state of completeness or an end of a thing. What this has to do with us is that everything we would ever need in the life has been completed and given to us, things such as perfect health, wealth, wisdom, excellence at everything, and many more in our spirit. All these and more beyond our human comprehension were what God our Father gave Jesus when He resurrected, and all these are what every single Son of God have received as their life, and this is what every Son of God has to know as he or she lives here on earth. And as he knows what or who he is, he declares them into his life, in other words, activating them and recognising them as real because they are true and active in Jesus. And in activating them, you use what Hebrews 4:12 says.

Therefore, if anyone, no matter who the person is speaks anything that is contrary to what you know you have received, whether you are seeing them manifested or not, you rebuke the contrary word and declare the truth to yourself or whatever the thing is, this is watering the seeds of life and allowing the fullness of Christ manifest in your life faster than before. Watch the words you speak and when you speak, only speak who Jesus is in your life.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
