Faith and Lies (Part 2)

Happy Weekend everyone,

Yesterday, my focus was on the differences between faith and lies. And I said that many have been having issues differentiating between the two due to increase in unbelief, and lies and faith are different because they don’t have the same origin, and lies is an illusion forcing itself into what is real and true. Today is a continuation from where I stopped yesterday.

First of all, there cannot be faith without hope or Grace. Faith is just the link between Grace and hope. Also, the acquisition of faith comes with an assurance which God would always give, going by how Hebrews 11:1 puts it, which is what lies would never give. When angel Gabriel appeared to Mary, giving her the good news of being the chosen one to conceive the Son of God, he made reference to Elisabeth her cousin who was known to be barren and was later with a child. The Lord God ensures we believe, as the focus is not of our selfish interest.

Second, faith is meant to strengthen your trust in God and when whatever you hear doesn’t build your trust or confidence in God/Jesus, then it is not from God. Lies, on the other hand, leaves Jesus out of the picture and focuses on the self. Also, faith in many cases sounds like what your flesh would not want to hear, but your spirit feels a conviction of truth in what is told.

Romans 10:17 says, “So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself).” The Amplified Bible. So, this means that faith is backed up with the scriptures, and not just any scripture, but the words and assurance of Christ Himself, either through His words exactly or through His inspiration through preachers. This is backed up with Hebrews 12:2a which says, “Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection].” The Amplified Bible. In other words, what Romans 10:17 and Hebrews 11:2 are both saying is that the more you spend time studying the scriptures, searching for Jesus in every verse, it would not only strengthen our faith in Jesus by reducing our unbelief in Him, it would also enable us to identify when God speaks and when the devil deceives, because both Grace and lies have their respective sources, and they can never sound the same, as long as you meditate on the word of God daily.

The truth in all these is that we are not to believe in lies, [that sounds obvious right]? But the sad thing is that many of us believe the lies of the devil just because we find having faith in Grace too good to be true, Grace is true because it came from God. Everything in life is a risk, but the right risk with positive result can only come from the One who is the same yesterday, today and forever; the One whose height of love for us cannot be fathomed by the human understanding; the One who cannot conceive lies, because everything He says is true. There is nothing God says that doesn’t come to pass, whatever He pronounces, even if it were possible for Him to say it accidentally, it would come to pass. And as He has said He has given us all things in Jesus, we just have to believe it because it is true.

The world has been feeding on lies that when we see the truth we find it hard to believe, once it is founded on the word of God in Jesus Christ, then it is true. Do not be deceived, faith and lies can never be the same. It’s all about who you trust and who you draw close to. So, would you draw close to faith in the Truth or lies from the devil, the choice is left to you.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
