Trials Should Be Fun For You

 Happy New Week everyone,

I remember a statement made by one of my lecturers back in the university, he said, “A tree cannot say it is tall until it stands among other trees.” It was good food for thought for me back then and still is, and in our walk with God, how do we know we are solid in Christ? I once wrote a blog post on examining oneself in Christ if he or she is solid in faith or a counterfeit. But as we walk with Jesus, we oftentimes go through trials, and this could be very displeasing, and you ask God why this always happens.

Apostle James wrote in James 1:2-4, “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” I love the way the Message Bible put these same verses, “Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colours. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.”

After lectures and training, we are meant to go through an examination to be sure if we were properly taught by making use of all what was taught when the trials and temptations come, this is where you exercise your true faith, and you see how strong you are and what and where you need to work on. Verse 4 says, “But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” The Message Bible says, “Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.” The whole essence of trials is for us to become mature and well-developed, thus becoming perfect and complete.

One thing to note is that we should always be ready for the trials, thus being on the alert and ready to express our level of faith in determining how mature we are. It shouldn’t be a time where we back down by displaying weakness, but a time of strength and courage. This is why James says we should count it all joy when we fall into various trials, and it really should, in our lives.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
