How Do You Pray? (Part 2)

Hello everyone,

Apostle Paul wrote that we need to pray always with all prayer and supplication, and being watchful in perseverance and supplication also for the saints, (ref.: Ephesians 6:18). This he said just after writing about the whole armour of God. With this, I then asked, how do we pray? Now, we may say Apostle Paul said with all prayer and supplication, but that’s not what I mean. What I mean is that how do we see ourselves when we pray? This is very important because our mind-set shapes the way we pray.

The devil is afraid of anyone who is born again because the born again Spirit is the very Spirit of Jesus, which is why the devil does everything to prevent those born again from knowing they truly are, thus distracting us from getting our minds renewed. But, we must remember that the devil is already a defeated foe, as Jesus defeated him and is victorious. It is from this victory we fight. The battle we face is not to defeat the devil, but to know that he has already been defeated and we have the spoils through the victory of our Lord Jesus Christ, in other words, the spoils we get by grace through faith are all Jesus has become in His resurrection. By understanding this, we pray like eagles and not chicken.

Our prayer life is very important because this is how we commune we God, but what do we say, and how do we see ourselves? I just explained what Jesus has done for us, which helps us to shape our thoughts, but seeing us by ourselves is still limiting, we need to know, how to reason in the transformed life.

Our natural eyes are limiting because it is still being renewed. We must know that when you become born again, you carry a brand new Spirit, which is a brand new personality, and character. And this Spirit is the Spirit of Jesus which is the same Spirit of God. What am I saying? What I mean is that we are to see ourselves the way God sees us, so how does God see a born again person?

God sees a person who is born again the exact way He sees our Lord Jesus Christ. Now, our Lord Jesus is perfection personified, which implies that He defines perfection, He is not just perfect, He is perfection Himself, being one with God. Adam lost being with God, but Jesus got that back for us, and we receive it by being translated into the new life of Jesus.

Do not be deceived, God only sees you as perfect, because it is your Spirit He sees and not your physical action (write-up for another day). As we meditate on the word of God every day, we see how God sees us, and this is by meditating on how God sees our Lord Jesus.

By seeing ourselves the way God sees us, we pray from victory. The devil doesn’t flee from us because he is afraid of us, he flees from us because of the Spirit we carry, the knowledge and understanding we have acquired from knowing this truth. There is no us, there is only Jesus.

The whole armour of God is completely useless unless you let go and let Jesus use it through you, for we are just a means of Jesus operating here on earth. All that we do must be Jesus doing them, we cannot be sick because that doesn’t define the Spirit we carry, by meditating on this, we then see the healing we hoped for. And this applies to every circumstance we go through. Do not be deceived by the devil. Christ Jesus has defined who we are, so let us not redefine ourselves wrongly.

Now that we know this, what is the prayer of supplication? Log on tomorrow as we go through this.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
