Put Your Spiritual Ears To The Ground

Hi everyone,

Previously, I focused on 2 Timothy 2:5-7 where Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy that just as a hard-working farmer would put his best into his produce to partake of his fruits, and as a person in a competitive game and all he does to work according to the rules and being fair, so also a person who intends to be a minister of the word should put similar effort or even more, because of his life and the life of those he would impact, in other words, he should not take the word for granted. I ended last time that many of the ministers condemn people who fall into sin, so is this right or wrong? I’ll address this and more.

We must understand that if ministers condemn those who sin, they won’t get any improvement, and in so doing, the body of Christ gets religious and those who are to be saved won’t come to Christ or the church in this case, why? Because of condemnation. But many ministers would say they don’t condemn people who sin. Well, they would say that because they don’t know that their actions are defined as condemnation in the real sense.

I have written on this aspect before, when a person who is in the body of Christ sins, it is not right for the minister to condemn the person, but the action, and it should be done in love by pointing the person to the foundation.

Hebrews 12:2 says, “Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]…” AMP. Jesus is one we are to fix our mind, our thought, our being on. We have become one with Him and as He is so are we in this world, [ref.: Romans 8:17; 1 John 4:17], He is the one the ministers to direct the person who fell into sin too, because He is our strength and our faith, for without Him we can do nothing, [ref.: John 15:5]. But falling into sinful actions as one born of God is a result of ignorance, for to fall into sin implies there is lack of study and meditation on the word of God which would show us who we are right now in Christ or the ministers are preaching and teaching the wrong messages which would make the listeners go back home and study off point, just because the foundation is properly emphasised. It is because of these that Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:8 which says, “Constantly keep in mind Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [as] risen from the dead, [as the prophesied King] descended from David, according to the good news (the Gospel) that I preach.” AMP.

What meant in 2 Timothy 2:8 is that once your mind is always fixed on what Christ has obtained for us based on His resurrection which He has given to us by Grace, this is the good news he preached and that is what he wanted Timothy to keep in mind. Our focus in the new covenant has shifted from ourselves to Christ. The reason is because, we can never do it right, so it is just a waste of time for the minister to condemn the person because the flesh can never get it right, but when we come understand that Christ is now our life, the only common sense to do is to study Christ because He is now your life!

Just as the man and his wife become flesh, likewise you and Christ have become one in Spirit. So, the study and meditation of the Christ is to awaken your new life; unlike the old covenant where God and man were two separate entities, man constantly struggled to meet up to God’s standard through the law, this new covenant needs to be meditated upon every day and night to be transformed and live the real life, so it is Christ we focus on and not our sin, because the more we focus on Him we get refreshed and our sinful actions wear out just because we get clearer and clearer to us that we are now the righteousness of God, [ref.: 2 Corinthians 5:21].

If any minister emphasises on your self-performance towards God instead of directing you to Christ and focusing on Him because He is your new life, then you need to leave that place because you cannot GROW in GRACE and in the KNOWLEDGE of Christ Jesus. Put your ears to the ground.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
