Be On The Look Out

Hello everyone,

In my last write-up, I looked at the second chapter of the second letter of Apostle to Timothy. Still, on my emphasis on knowing what message we are to listen to, thus being able to identify the true message from the fake message, I looked at 2 Timothy 2:15 which was about being properly grounded on the Word of God especially when it has to do with teaching the Word. I then started a proper view at what made Paul make this statement by looking at chapter two of the letter, because Apostle Paul wrote was concerned about the church and didn’t want anyone who isn’t well grounded in the Word to become a teacher, in other words only persons who are properly grounded in the Word with true understanding could become teachers, and these are people Timothy was to look out for. Today, I would continue going through the chapter.

To continue from where I stopped, let’s look at 2 Timothy 2: 3 and 4, “Take [with me] your share of hardship and suffering [which you are called to endure] as a good (first-class) soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier when in service gets entangled in the enterprises of [civilian] life; his aim is to satisfy and please the one who enlisted him.” AMP. To understand these verses, what Apostle Paul passed across to Timothy was that, those who have received Christ should always be alert as a soldier. As a soldier, you don’t give room for any form of distraction, you should be aware of your surroundings, in this case, is the world. The devil is always ready to bring deceit to people by taking them away from the truth, and a true soldier should be alert and be able to identify with tricks of the devil.

Paul reminded Timothy the hardship and suffering him, [Timothy] went through to ensure that the Word remained what it was. Now, what must remain is the foundation which Christ called us into; the reason is that once the foundation is gotten right, whatever we build on it is led by Holy Spirit. The foundation has to do with the victory we have gotten through the Grace of Jesus Christ, becoming joint heirs with Christ, being taken away from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of Christ, [ref.: Colossians 1:13].

We should always be alert in order identify the schemes of the devil and would be meditating on the Word of God and allowing the Holy Spirit to lead you since the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ who is the Spirit of God. By doing this, you would be alert, just as Jesus was at all times, an example was His temptation by the devil.

To be engaged in civilian affairs is dangerous because it is full of distractions, which gives room for the devil to plant his seed. A person who is easily distracted, even if he is always the first to get to church and has the highest degree, cannot teach the Word because he won’t know when he teaches adulterated Truth. Be on the alert because distractions are around the corner.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
