Today, I take a look at the seed (word) and the good ground’s (the heart) effect on it. Why was the good ground any better than the other three? Is it because of the circumstances faced by the three grounds, which of course are common things faced by man, which in many ways cannot be avoided? This is why I intend to take each of the grounds already explained and compare them with the good ground showing you what would have been done differently.
In looking at the good ground, it appears the gospel of Matthew, Mark, and Luke each took a part of the explanation on the seed on good ground, which when put together forms the whole truth. And they are found in Matthew 13:23; Mark 4:20; Luke 8:15.
Matthew 13:23 says, “But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, [grasps and comprehends it. AMP] who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” Mark 4:20 says, “But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, [receive and accepts and welcome it. AMP] and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.” And last but not the least Luke 8:15 says, “But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience [hold it fast in a just (noble, virtuous) and worthy heart and steadily bring forth fruit with patience. AMP].”
So when fused together, it could be said that as the person having the heart of the good ground hears the word, accepts it, or receives and welcome it, understands it or grasps and comprehends it with a noble and good heart. He keeps it, hold it fast in a just, noble, virtuous and worthy heart, of which with patience or perseverance bears fruits.
All these were what every other heart lacked; take for instance the heart on the pathway was idle and didn’t have time for the word allowing the devil to take the word away. On the other hand, the heart on the good ground accepted, received and welcomed the word.
To be idle is not to know the importance of what should be done at that moment. Many people including Believers complain why things aren’t going the way it supposed to. The point here is what were you doing when God provided His word to you? You were idle, not taking it as important. The bible says, the sons of Issachar who had the understanding of the times, to know what Israel was to do [ref. 1 Chronicles 12:32].
Several places in the scriptures, you would see where it is written, Jesus moving when the time had come. If you don’t move when you are to move, you are as just as the seed on the pathway. This is because to move from one place to another in line with the mandate God has ordained for you, you need to accept, receive and welcome the word, and the word really is Christ! This is what the seed on the good ground did. The word here is a total package of Christ taking charge of your life and situation. The word is the only thing you need in getting where you’re going.
Next time I will compare the stony ground and the good ground, in order to see where the stony ground missed it.
Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
