Authority Through Obedience of Faith

Happy New Week everyone,

I read up on the story of Moses when he was taking the children out of Egypt, especially when they were approaching the red sea and Pharaoh and his army were behind the children of Israel. They got to a point and cried to Moses, then Moses said to the people in Exodus 14:13-14, “And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. 14The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”

At this point, Moses himself was lost of ideas because he believed he had followed the direct instruction of the Lord. But what got me amazed was how God reasons when God said in verse 15, “And the LORD said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. 16But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.” What if Moses didn’t cry to God, as He asked Moses why he cried to Him? It was then I understood the authority of God as we follow Him. Let me explain further.

God has all authority, but here on earth, His authority is manifested through us. Moses had decided to follow the instructions of the Lord God, which implies that the authority which supersedes every authority would just be flowing. This is what I got to understand; the moment God tells a person to do a thing, it implies that He has gone ahead of all obstacles you may face, as He is omnipresent, He who has seen the end before you get there and is in future before you get there. The only thing is for you to just follow His instructions and all obstacles are already taken care of. So, when He told Moses to take the route that leads to the red sea. If Moses hadn’t stopped moving, the sea would have split by itself without him raising his rod.

The point is that when we are following God and He gives us His instruction, we are to shut down our five senses, by raising an authority above the five senses. Moses, got a little confused as he saw the sea and saw the army behind him. He wasn’t afraid, but waited for further instructions, because going by his five senses, they couldn’t walk on water. But God asked him why he cried to Him because God never said they should to get to the bank of the sea and stop. He never asked Moses to stop, but Moses stopped. This is very interesting.

Going further to the time when Jesus asked the disciples to get the colt at a house. Jesus being led by the Holy Spirit understood that God had gone ahead to ensure there was a colt there and the person would ask a question, which was why He told the disciples if anyone says anything, they should simply say the Lord has need of it, (ref.: Matthew 21:2; Mark 11:2; Luke 19:30,32-34). To me, that answer doesn’t make sense, going by the five senses, but exactly what Jesus said as followed came to pass, just because they didn’t think otherwise, but followed exactly what Jesus said. A similar thing happened when Jesus asked them to meet a person who would direct them to the place they would have their Passover, (ref.: Mark 14:13; Luke 22:10).

The whole point here is that the obedience of faith to what God tells you through the Spirit of Jesus (Holy Spirit) is what unleashes the resurrection authority of Jesus. God has gone ahead to clear every obstacle. Let me make that clearer, He has already cleared every obstacle you would every face. You fall in place just by the obedience of faith.

We are to raise Jesus and not ourselves up. We were bought with a price and He protects His own.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
