Our Lives Like a Bamboo Tree

Hello everyone,

When I look at life, especially when it has to do with taking the path set by the Lord, sometimes one may ask, what the purpose is, in terms of why certain things happen. We all have emotions, and when certain things happen, our emotion could be quick to react to the happenings around us, but then again, are those emotions the right one? Most times, it is, when viewed by the world, but the Lord says no it isn’t. Our lives could be likened to a bamboo tree, especially when making reference to happenings in our lives and how we want them to. What exactly am I talking about?

There is a story of a woman, a God fearing woman and a single mum, who had a Son. But it so happened that despite the upbringing of her Son, he became a drug addict. He always hung around bad gangs. From time to time his Mother bailed him from the Police station. He was such an embarrassment to his Mother.

She always scolded him for his bad behaviour every time, but nothing changed. She went to her Pastor and pleaded with him on what she was to do because she had tried everything within her power. Then the Pastor told her that she had been going about things the wrong way. The Pastor asked her what positive thing she wanted to see in her Son, and she told him. The Pastor then told her to only confess what she wanted to see in her Son, whether he does right or wrong because her words are seeds which are sown into the life of her Son.

The woman listened to the Pastor and kept on declaring what she wanted to see in her Son. For months she did this and it appeared as though nothing happened. She wanted to stop, but she told her Pastor that nothing was happening. Her Pastor told her not to quit, that all her words are seeds sown which are planted, and her continuous declaration is the watering of the seed sown, and God brings the change. The Pastor made her understand that all that she was doing was out of love and that is the reason why the seed she had sown won’t be in vain.

So, she continued and boom! The Son came home one day and told her that he wanted to go to church with her the next day which was a Sunday. He just had a change of heart all of a sudden that all that he had been doing was wrong. And he wanted a different life, so he went to church with his Mother and dedicated his life to Jesus Christ, and never turned back.

His Mother was surprised at the sudden change of her Son’s behaviour, just like a bamboo tree, that sprouts after many years of no significant growth. The same thing applies to our personal lives, like our health, marriage, finance, and other things that could stand as a challenge in our lives.

As we confess the word into whatever situation we are going through, we must remember that our words are seeds sown into whatever situation we find ourselves. It may appear as though nothing is happening, but just continue, and like the bamboo tree, boom!! Your health challenges vanishes, boom! Your financial challenges vanishes, and on and on.

The key point here is that we must meditate on the word of God and listen to the Holy Spirit for guidance and we see what we confess come to pass in Christ Jesus. Your life could be like the bamboo tree, do not give up because God’s word does not go and come back to Him void without fulfilling what was spoken.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
