Our Faith and the The Lord's Supper

Happy Maundy Thursday everyone,

Romans 10:17 says, “So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself).” AMP. Now, as true faith comes from hearing the message of Christ, faith also comes from Holy Communion, and this is my focus today.

Hebrews 4:12 says, the Word of God is living and active, in other words, the Word of God is alive and very powerful. It is not like mere words we say, even though what we say has power in itself, whether life or death, (ref.: Proverbs 18:21). But the Word of God is deeper than that, as it does not go forth out of the mouth of God and return void without accomplishing that which He pleased and purposed. It is the very same with the Holy Communion which started on the Lord’s Supper which we celebrate today.

The moment the Word of God being alive gets into our body through meditation, it quickens the mortal body through the renewal of the mind and the transformation of the body. This is where we see healing take place, deliverance, breakthrough, miracles and all sort of things of the finished work of Christ take place. And as I said, the Holy Communion does the exact same thing!

The Holy Communion comprises of the bread and the wine which symbolises the body and the blood of Jesus. Jesus in John 6:53-54 said, “I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, you cannot have any life in you unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood [unless you appropriate His life and the saving merit of His blood]. 54 He who feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood has (possesses now) eternal life, and I will raise him up [from the dead] on the last day.” AMP. He went ahead in verses 55 and 56, which says, “For My flesh is true and genuine food, and My blood is true and genuine drink. 56 He who feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood dwells continually in Me, and I [in like manner dwell continually] in him.” AMP.

The moment you eat the bread in the Holy Communion, you take in the body of Christ Jesus and we are reminded of how He brought brings healing, wholeness, perfection in our body, and in doing that, you becoming Jesus, not like Jesus, but Jesus because we are His body. And as we take in the blood, we are reminded of how our sins were purged out and then becoming the righteousness of God.

What we need to understand is that it is not when we take the Holy Communion that healings or miracles come, or that is when we become the righteousness of God. No, the moment we made Jesus Lord of our lives, healing, the forgiveness of sins, and other miracles were embedded in us, and we became the righteousness of God. What the Holy Communion does is to activate all these hidden in us, this is why we see healings and wholeness take place any time we take the Holy Communion.

This is why we are to take the Holy Communion often in order to remind us of who we are in Christ Jesus. It is an act of faith, the more we take the Holy Communion, the more we become Jesus. Remember, we are joint heirs with Christ Jesus, (ref.: Romans 8:17), and the Holy Communion helps us remember that.

In conclusion, we are to know that the Holy Communion is an act of thanksgiving to God for saving us by Grace through faith in Christ, as a result of what Jesus did for us on the cross. It is not a magic wand, it is an act of faith which strengthens us and quickens our mortal bodies. We are to meditate on the Word of God which strengthens our faith, and for us to properly understand what the Holy Communion means in our lives. HAPPY MAUNDY THURSDAY!

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
