What is the Prayer of Supplication? (Part 2)

Hello everyone, trust your day is going great,

Today is a continuation from yesterday’s blog post: What is the Prayer of Supplication (Part 1). How, do we pray the prayer of supplication even being under the new creation? Apostle Paul said we are to supplicate in the Spirit, where I said one way is to speak in tongues. And to speak in tongues is to allow your renewed Spirit to communicate to God without any interference from the physical tongue which is still being renewed.

Yesterday, I said speaking in tongues is one way of supplicating in the Spirit, so what are other ways? Another way is through praise and worship, surprised? This shouldn’t surprise you because to supplicate implies to humbly request for a thing, and God is the One you are requesting from.

Now, we must not forget that Jesus is the answer to every one of our requests, and He has been given to us. The word of God asks us to live and walk by faith, and remember hope is something we intend to get, while faith is receiving or accepting what God has provided, which is to accept the answer to what we have been crying for, and Jesus is the answer. Thus, in order to walk in the level God has placed us in the new creation, we are to praise and worship God, therefore, what we are saying is that what we would have supplicated for has been answered. And praises and worship strengthens our faith and chases away the devil. This is another way to pray the prayer of supplication.

Jesus made us understand that all that we need, our Father in heaven already know that we need them and has provided for them, so, this is why we need to see with the eyes of God in order to allow our hope to become a prayer answered, and this through faith through our Lord Jesus Christ.

However, there are reasons, we cry to the Lord through the prayer of supplication, and this could come about when we go through serious trials in life. Even though Jesus is the answer, sometimes we need to be strengthened to see with the eyes of God, especially because our minds are still being transformed, and the devil is attacking seriously. So, even with this, how do we supplicate properly?

In order not to go amiss who God has made us, we supplicate standing on the word of God, thus pointing to the areas that assure who we are right now in the Spirit. And even though it could feel like hell, the Holy Spirit strengthens us to go on, as we keep confessing the word on and on till we are assured we have it, and once this is so, we switch to praises, worship, and thanksgiving.

We are not to cry to God to provide what He has already provided, such as healing, financial breakthrough and other similar things. How we are to ask with humility is to stand on what He said He has provided for us, this is the true humility, because, we didn’t want to pay attention to the trials we are going, rather we decided, God has done it [and not will do it], and we need to be strengthened all the more to keep on seeing with His eyes. This is how we supplicate in the new covenant, everything is by faith.

Now, how do we supplicate for other saints as Apostle Paul asked us to? Find out how tomorrow same time.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!

What is the Prayer of Supplication? (Part 1)

Hi everyone,

Yesterday, I was able to explain that before we pray, we need to retune our mindset into the mindset God wants us to see ourselves, which is the way He sees us. The reason is that the understanding of who we are affects what we say to God. Today, I would be looking at the prayer of supplication.

Apostle Paul emphasised on the importance of a strong prayer life in using the whole armour of God, (ref.: Ephesians 6:18). I also wrote that we must understand that in the proper use of the armour of God, we need to let go and let God use the armour because it is His authority that is in us. We are to submit to Him, therefore, showing that the old man is crucified and Jesus is now our new life, for the devil always call our attention to the old man who doesn’t exist anymore, but because our mind is still being renewed, we tend to display some of the things the old man left behind which is what the devil forces us to see, and listening to him would make us feel that is our life, whereas that isn’t us anymore.

Ephesians 6:18 says, “praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.” Now, to supplicate means to earnestly ask for something with humility. Today, some of us when praying a prayer of supplication, we beg God earnestly, which could depict the meaning of the prayer really. But, what are we begging God for?

We must understand that the process of supplication before and after the resurrection of Jesus are different. For instance, when we pray earnestly for food before it is provided is different from how you pray when food is right in front of you. Every answer to our prayer is encapsulated in the person of Jesus, so, as a person who is born again, what is a prayer of supplication since Jesus is the answer to every request you’d ever make?

Apostle Paul made us understand that as a new creation, we are not to supplicate in the physical anymore, but in the Spirit, (ref.: Ephesians 6:18a), which one of the ways in the speaking of tongues. Yes, I said one of the ways, and before I write about the other ways, we must understand that the devil’s intention is to make you feel you’re wretched, and miserable, needing help, but remember, you’re a joint heir with Christ Jesus, making you seated with Him in heavenly places (ref.: Ephesians 2:4-7).

Now, in speaking in tongues, you don’t speak with your understanding because your mind is still in the process of renewal, thereby making your words corrupting the purity of a transformed language in human understanding. What we are to do when we speak in tongues is to ask for the interpretation of the tongues where you receive revelations on what do and how to do things by being led by the Holy Spirit (the Spirit of Jesus Christ).

As I said, speaking in tongues is one way supplicating through prayer, which means there are other ways to pray the prayer of supplication. We also need to know the manner at which supplication becomes supplication. Find these out tomorrow as you log on, same time.

How Do You Pray? (Part 2)

Hello everyone,

Apostle Paul wrote that we need to pray always with all prayer and supplication, and being watchful in perseverance and supplication also for the saints, (ref.: Ephesians 6:18). This he said just after writing about the whole armour of God. With this, I then asked, how do we pray? Now, we may say Apostle Paul said with all prayer and supplication, but that’s not what I mean. What I mean is that how do we see ourselves when we pray? This is very important because our mind-set shapes the way we pray.

The devil is afraid of anyone who is born again because the born again Spirit is the very Spirit of Jesus, which is why the devil does everything to prevent those born again from knowing they truly are, thus distracting us from getting our minds renewed. But, we must remember that the devil is already a defeated foe, as Jesus defeated him and is victorious. It is from this victory we fight. The battle we face is not to defeat the devil, but to know that he has already been defeated and we have the spoils through the victory of our Lord Jesus Christ, in other words, the spoils we get by grace through faith are all Jesus has become in His resurrection. By understanding this, we pray like eagles and not chicken.

Our prayer life is very important because this is how we commune we God, but what do we say, and how do we see ourselves? I just explained what Jesus has done for us, which helps us to shape our thoughts, but seeing us by ourselves is still limiting, we need to know, how to reason in the transformed life.

Our natural eyes are limiting because it is still being renewed. We must know that when you become born again, you carry a brand new Spirit, which is a brand new personality, and character. And this Spirit is the Spirit of Jesus which is the same Spirit of God. What am I saying? What I mean is that we are to see ourselves the way God sees us, so how does God see a born again person?

God sees a person who is born again the exact way He sees our Lord Jesus Christ. Now, our Lord Jesus is perfection personified, which implies that He defines perfection, He is not just perfect, He is perfection Himself, being one with God. Adam lost being with God, but Jesus got that back for us, and we receive it by being translated into the new life of Jesus.

Do not be deceived, God only sees you as perfect, because it is your Spirit He sees and not your physical action (write-up for another day). As we meditate on the word of God every day, we see how God sees us, and this is by meditating on how God sees our Lord Jesus.

By seeing ourselves the way God sees us, we pray from victory. The devil doesn’t flee from us because he is afraid of us, he flees from us because of the Spirit we carry, the knowledge and understanding we have acquired from knowing this truth. There is no us, there is only Jesus.

The whole armour of God is completely useless unless you let go and let Jesus use it through you, for we are just a means of Jesus operating here on earth. All that we do must be Jesus doing them, we cannot be sick because that doesn’t define the Spirit we carry, by meditating on this, we then see the healing we hoped for. And this applies to every circumstance we go through. Do not be deceived by the devil. Christ Jesus has defined who we are, so let us not redefine ourselves wrongly.

Now that we know this, what is the prayer of supplication? Log on tomorrow as we go through this.

How Do You Pray? (Part 1)

Hello everyone,

I've been going through the whole armour of God for some days now, and after putting up what each part depicts, Apostle Paul went ahead in Ephesians 6:18 saying, “praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.” Apostle Paul linked prayer to the armour of God, asking us to pray always, being watchful with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. When we hear the word prayer, we quickly say we do that, but the question now is, how do you see yourself when you pray? In other words, when you speak to God in prayer, what eyes do you see yourself, which would be the way you present yourself to God in prayer? This is a critical question that let us know the level at which we make use of the whole armour of God.

A quick reminder, when Moses sent out twelve spies to the land of Canaan, all twelve saw the same thing, but there two interpretations in describing what they saw. Ten had a side of a story while two had another side of the story, (ref.: Numbers 13:27-33). Using this as an example would determine how they would pray to God.

Many of us see ourselves on the same level with the devil competing for a thing, like a game of chess where both sides carry the same strength, but the side having the best-applied strategy would win, and this is not right. Many of us would say they don’t pray that way, but their words betray them.

Jesus Christ has been given the name that is above all names, and all authority in heaven and on earth has been given unto Him. Therefore, no one is on His league, meaning no one can compete against Him because He is greater than everyone. It is just like professional football players playing against children in nursery schools, that game would be unfair because both teams are not in the same league. Likewise, those born into the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ, we are not on the league of the devil.

Which reminds me, let me tell the level of the devil. Once upon a time, before the devil who he is now, he was an archangel, who still is lower than Jesus [because Jesus is God]. Now, because of evil intentions, he was banished away from heaven, stripped off his powers that even the lowest of angels was even greater than him. He got the power to rule the earth from Adam, which made him a little powerful than some angels, but Jesus disarmed him when He went to hell, thus making him even lower than the lowest of angels.

Angels are servants who seek the face of God, and those who are born of God are super greater than angels because of the Spirit they carry. And the devil is lower than these angels of whom those who are born again are greater than. So, who is the devil compared to you?

This is what I want you to understand. The devil is afraid of those who are born again because they carry the very authority of Jesus, which is why he does everything for us not to know how to use this authority.

Now, the mistake some make when praying is that they look at themselves having the authority, but I will say this again, the “I” you think has the authority of Jesus has been crucified. Jesus is the one who lives in your body which is why you have the authority. And this is what being a joint heir in Christ means (ref.: Romans 8:17).

Knowing this is very important because if you don’t know this, your prayer life would be like an eagle praying like a chicken.

I will continue tomorrow on this subject as there is a lot we need to know as we address God in our prayers.

The Helmet and the Sword

It’s a brand new happy week everyone,

And today I would be looking at the Helmet and the Sword, still in the whole armour of God. So, I would take a look at Ephesians 6:17 which says, “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” The helmet is used to protect the head and is called the helmet of salvation because your thoughts happen in your head. Salvation is what Jesus gave us when He died on the cross, as we became free from the bondage of the evil one. The salvation we received came with a package of a brand new life which I have been writing on for days now.

So, in order to function with the salvation given to us, we need to know we have salvation, and this has to do with our thoughts which play in our head. We first have head knowledge before having heart knowledge. Once you don’t know you are saved, you cannot meditate, to prevent this, you need to guard your head against the evil one bringing lies to your thoughts, but how will you do that?

You can’t just say to the devil’s lies attacking your thought “it’s a lie, it’s a lie”, naah, it can’t work that way. Remember, the evil guy is a schemer, so, tackling this and allow your helmet of salvation to sit properly, you need to talk back to the lies with an authority greater than the lies the devil brings, and even more powerful than your ordinary words, and what is that? The sword of the Spirit!

The sword of the Spirit is the word of God, it nullifies every attack of the devil as you confess the truth, which is who you have become right now in Christ Jesus. You make use of the authority given to you by Jesus, and it is only found in the word of God.

The shield of faith quenches all the fiery darts of the devil as it signifies the life of Jesus in you which you received and accepted, but the word of God expresses the power and authority by using the word of God.

The devil tempted Jesus, His Spirit rejected it, which is the shield of faith, but He spoke back to the devil using the word of God, which is the sword of the Spirit, and the devil fled.

When Apostle James said we should resist the devil and he will flee from you, (ref.: James 4:7), it cannot be complete without the use of the sword of the Spirit. The word of God is not mere words, it is alive, like a person in the form of words. This is much deeper than books we read of people, the word is the person Himself—Jesus. However, Jesus should be our focus as we search the scriptures because the devil attacks our identity, and we now know that Jesus is our new identity, but the devil doesn’t want us to harness its full capacity.

The devil knows who is boss, and will always flee when the sword of the Spirit is used. But we need to know, how to use the sword effectively, and verse 18 of Ephesians 6 continued saying, “praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and for all the saints.”

Prayer is a communing with God, and this strengthens our use of the whole armour of God. But many people pray and don’t see anything they prayed for as regards the use of the whole armour of God. I would identify where some get it wrong in their prayer life even after keeping vigil. Log on tomorrow, as I identify issues in our prayer life.

The Shield of Faith

Happy Sunday everyone,

To live the life God has called you here on earth, isn’t all bed of roses, because we are here on earth, the god of this world attacks us, but contrary to the attacks many of us envision, the attacks are fought in the mind. Yes, some of us may say people are attacked by demons and all, I strongly say that these attacks are because we let our guard down in our minds. If God cannot force us to do a thing, who is now the devil who is a defeated foe on his own, to force us to do a thing, that is not possible.

I’ve been writing on the whole armour of God found in Ephesians 6, and today, I would take a look at the shield of faith. Ephesians 6:16 says, “above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.” Why did Apostle Paul say, “above all” when referring to the shield of faith?

The devil attacks us, but the shield of faith quenches his attacks, in other words, makes it useless. This is because the faith here implies us receiving and accepting a brand new life. The Bible says we should walk and live by faith, (ref.: Romans 1:17; 2 Corinthians 5:7). It is this same faith that Apostle Paul wrote about in Galatians 2:20, where he said he lives by the faith of the Son of God. And finally, Hebrews 12:2a says, “looking unto Jesus, the author, and finisher of our faith.” So, where am I driving at?

The faith of a person who is born again isn’t his faith anymore, but the faith of Jesus Christ. The same Jesus that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Him; the same Jesus that has the highest name in heaven, earth and under the earth; and the same Jesus who disarmed principalities and powers, it is His faith whoever is born again live by. Which is why when you lift the shield of faith against the Satan’s dart, they are disarmed because there is an authority greater than any scheme the devil can put on.

The devil attacking you, is to attack Jesus, so it is when you know, believe, and understand that you carry and function by the same Spirit of Jesus, that is using the shield of faith. But the devil doesn’t want you to know that. The “self” was crucified on the cross, it now Jesus who is the new creation that lives in us, and the devil knows this. But if anyone hasn’t harnessed this understanding, the devil could easily manipulate the minds of that person easily, because the person would fight with his ability, not knowing that Jesus has already won the battle. All we have to do is rest in the victory of Jesus. By doing so, our faith is strengthened, and this our mind is renewed and our bodies transformed the more. This is the use of the shield of faith.

Remember, the devil/Satan is A DEFEATED FOE because Jesus disarmed and triumphed over him. It is the victory of Jesus that our new birth comes from. It is not about you, but all and only about Jesus, this again is the shield of faith.

Let's Examine Your Battle Suit (Part 3)

Happy new month everyone,

In my last few blog post, we have looked at the waist of truth which strengthens us as we are led by the Holy Spirit. We’ve also looked at the breastplate of righteousness, where we understand that by being born again which is being translated into the kingdom of Jesus Christ we become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, as our lives have changed, our heart is now brand new. With that, we must hold on to this truth no matter the attack the devil brings about.

Today, I would be looking at the part of the armour that covers the feet. Ephesians 6:15 says, “and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace.” We must remember that we are on a battlefield, and the world is the field. The devil attacks us with all he has, which the world operates under, which is why your stand under the kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ is going against the forces the world operates under, thus going against the tide.

So, for our feet to be shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, it implies there would be attacks on what we stand for, and if you don’t have something to defend your new life, then you weren’t prepared.

Another reason why we need our feet to be prepared for the gospel of peace is because we are sent here as Ambassadors of the kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ to save people of the world from perishing. We have people who are well equipped with knowledge of this world who can silence anyone, so if you run into such people and are not well prepared, and you could fall prey.

Now, a tactic the devil uses is that he makes us forget we are being led the Holy Spirit, as we start defending ourselves using our human knowledge, as we fight to be relevant, thus raising the human knowledge highly, and in many cases, we lose.

When you look at the Lord Jesus when He walked on earth, anytime the Pharisees and the teachers of the Law attacked Him with questions, He never answered on their level by trying to prove He was relevant. What He did was that He allowed the Holy Spirit to lead Him thus making His reply not philosophical (not based on thesis and antithesis). He never answered on their level of thought. Sometimes, He ends their questions by bringing up something new which makes their question null and void, thus making them the ones needing help.

But do not forget, YOU MUST BE LED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT; where to go, who to go to, and what to say. You are sent, you did not send yourself, (ref.: John 15:16). Therefore, let He who sent you do the talking, and you just be the medium at which the people hear Him.

You must be prepared, as having the armour of God is to strengthen you, and to save lives. It is not something to joke with which is why the Bible says, "looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith..." (Hebrews 12:2a). And this leads to the next part of the armour of God which is the shield of faith.

Log on tomorrow as we go through the shield of faith.
