Why Should We Love Our Neighbours?

Romans 6:14 says, "For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace." This sounds amazing because anyone who is born of Christ Jesus is free from sin. However, being free from sins doesn't give you the liberty to do just anything because you're not under the law which imputes sin.

True, you may say you do not intend to sin, but you do not just do anything in the sense of not having anyone guiding or leading you.

Galatians 5:13 says, "Beloved ones, God has called us to live a life of freedom. But don’t view this wonderful freedom as an excuse to set up a base of operations in the natural realm. Constantly love each other and be committed to serve one another." TPT. We have freedom but we are not left as sheep without a shepherd. And we know that Christ Jesus is our shepherd. The question would be, 'What does Christ want us to do?'

Galatians 5:14 went ahead saying, "For all the law can be summarized in one grand statement: “Demonstrate love to your neighbor, even as you care for and love yourself.” TPT.

All that Christ Jesus would expect us to do is to love our neighbours as ourselves. This is the summary of the law itself in which the Spirit of Christ Jesus we have received compels us to live. But how do we do this?

Keeping the law wasn't our nature when we were in the world, which made it impossible to keep. However, Christ Jesus was the only one who fulfilled the Law, and God raised Him above every other name in heaven, earth, and under the earth. It is His Spirit we received as our new life to live and walk by faith in Him.

In other words, our nature is the nature of Christ Jesus, allowing us to live and walk as Him. This is why we can walk in the Spirit and not gratify the flesh, just because we now can do that, (ref.: Galatians 5:16).

And because we now have the Spirit of God, we can be led by the Holy Spirit to walk in Him by loving our neighbours as ourselves. And even deeper, as we are now Christ, and Christ is in us.

The life of a Son or Daughter of God is straightforward if we are humble to allow Him to lead us in the path of righteousness, the righteousness Christ gave us as a gift by grace through faith in Him.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t? Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
