Happy new week everyone,
I took some oil and poured a little of it into a small bowl which contains water, I stirred the content in the bowl, but even after stirring it several times, the oil and water won’t mix or become one. Well, it’s not that I didn’t know this before, but my point in performing this experiment again even after knowing the outcome was just a message to show that this is just how law and grace is, they can’t be mixed. But my focus today isn’t directly at law and but at the spirit and the flesh. The truth is that the two cannot be mixed, and by mixed I mean that which holds control of the mind, it is either the flesh or the spirit, but never both. This serves as a foundation to what I would share today.
I believe most of us would remember Jesus met with the Samaritan woman when He was tired from His journey and decided to take a rest by the well which the Samaritan woman met Him. To cut the long story, through their conversation, Jesus said something quite striking in the Gospel of John chapter 4:23-24, which says, “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” So you guys are like, “okaaay, what’s so striking about this?” a lot is striking about these verses.
We worship God, but many of us haven’t fully come to the understanding that we must worship the Father in spirit and in truth. By truth it means in reality, like your way of life, these are the type of people God our Father is looking for. Romans 8 has made us understand that the way of the flesh, which is the carnal mind is enmity with God and cannot please God, [ref.: Romans 8:7-8]. To say that an act cannot please God shows the lack of faith and the lack of faith means the lack of trust in God, for without faith it is impossible to please God, [ref.: Hebrews 11:6].
The flesh or the carnal mind is dependent on the five senses in passing judgement or carrying things out, but the way of the spirit is to rely on the Holy Spirit to direct your five senses. You are not to see with the natural eyes or any other part of the five senses, it is just like how you don’t see a thing until you use special glasses then you see clearer, this is kind of how it appears in the spirit realm.
The striking aspect is that worship is a lifestyle not a moment you enter when you say, “Let’s be in the mood of worship,” you are supposed to always be in the mood of worship, as you are to always live and walk by faith, which is walking in the spirit, [ref.: 2 Corinthians 5:7; Galatians 5:16]. So how do we always walk in the spirit?
To walk in the spirit is to be transformed by the continuous renewal of our mind every day and night, which would make us prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God, [ref.: Romans 12:2]. To do this would imply that you must have presented your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God, [ref.: Romans 12:1], which means, you must be teachable by the Holy Spirit, ready to learn, this is humility. The Holy Spirit doesn’t work with people who are not teachable, those who still brag over what they have acquired because the scriptures tell us that if anyone should boast, he should boast in the Lord, [ref.: Jeremiah 9:24; 1 Corinthians 1:31].
After the regular study and meditation on the Word of God Who transforms your heart, you are then aware of the Grace God our Father has given to us through faith in Jesus Christ, this is when Philippians 4:8 comes to play, “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” All which I underlined are what the Word of God is, also as we live our lives, whatever we encounter, if they don’t fall in line with what Philippians 4:8 says, there is no point thinking or speaking about it, they could and would be harmful to your spiritual growth, because those who worship the Father must worship Him in spirit and in truth.
May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.
Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
