You Cannot Love God By Yourself Alone (Part 2)

Happy Weekend everyone,

Yesterday, I wrote what the greatest commandment of the old covenant really meant which is to love the Lord GOD with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and the second greatest which is loving your neighbour as yourself. Today, I'll continue from where I stopped yesterday.

Loving the God with all these means becoming one with the Lord which I said yesterday. It means becoming you become completely focused on Him and Him alone. What God meant here was having His spirit in us, letting Him become our lives, so instead of focusing on ourselves, we now focus on the new us which is our spirit that is, His spirit.

Then loving our neighbours as ourselves is much deeper than we could ever imagine. To love your neighbour as yourself implies giving. God/Jesus emphasised on love which is the greatest force in the world and in portraying this, giving is a strong characteristic. To give out of love is to put that person first because first off, love is sacrificial and when you give out of love, it means you recognised the persons need and decided to give in order for the person to meet that need.

Giving is a powerful way to displaying loving one's neighbour as himself. This is how God expects us to run the world but many on the other hand never understood this and followed the world’s pattern of doing things.

It is quite surprising that some of the people of the world understood this secret of giving and used it and they saw great results at doing this. There are secrets which aren’t really secrets that are the answer to the question Jesus answered in Mark 12:30, which I’ll write tomorrow, so log on tomorrow for this.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!

You Cannot Love God By Yourself Alone

Hello everyone,

I’ve said this before but, do you know that Jesus never got any question wrong? Wow, He always had the right answer for every question, even with the best brains came to test Him with questions. There was an instance where scribes came to test Jesus in Matthew 22:37; Mark 12:30 and the scribe asked Him what the first commandment of all was, “Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one. And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.””

When I took a look at this, I found out how impossible this was. To love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind and strength was like to cease to exist, it meant you don’t have any consciousness of yourself even for a second because you’ve given all your being to loving God. Also, to love your neighbour as yourself was to care for your neighbour with the exact care that you care for yourself. It didn’t say love your neighbour close to the way you love yourself, so this was impossible.

Jesus in John 13:34, Jesus modified the second greatest commandment, which says, “A new commandment I give you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” This was more impossible because the love Christ has for His disciples could not be fathomed with words or knowledge, neither could be understood.

The truth in all these is that God knew how impossible it was, but also knew how possible it is. Jesus' love showed us how this could be achieved by doing only that which He saw His Father do. The only way for us is to have His spirit in us, in order for this to be achieved. Surrendering completely to the Father, and relying on and trusting in Him is what it means. You can’t do this by yourself except with another spirit which Jesus is offering us. And you cannot love one another as Christ did unless you are that person which is why you need to make Jesus Lord of your life.

The Life God Wants You To Live (Part 2)

Hello everyone,

And this was my last paragraph yesterday, “As we enter into this rest, we are guided into every step we take as the Holy Spirit become our guide and we having the word of God/Jesus abiding in us, life becomes so full of Grace and we know what we are to do and this is how we are not guided or controlled by mammon, because at this point we would understand that everything we would ever need had been provided for long before we were born and mammon becomes our servant and not the other way round and now God is the one we truly serve.” In essence, God wants us to be one with Him, which is why we find Him giving us His life, He doesn’t want any separation between ourselves and Himself. This is why we have to understand why our new Spirit when we become Believers become the exact same Spirit of God, [ref. John 17:3, Ephesians 4:4-6].

You will find in the gospels when Jesus was talking about taking up your cross and following Him, He then said what would it profit a man if he gains the whole world and then loses his soul [ref. Matthew 16:26, Mark 8:26, Luke 9:25], in other words, there is something beyond than the acquisition of wealth. Following Jesus is being Him, true we would face a lot of trials along the way but who told you that won’t happen if you are on your own? The difference between the two is the outcome, one comes out stronger as having overcome, while the other comes out battered which is a typical life’s situation in this case.

You can never walk with Jesus and fail or lose or reject walking with Him. Why do you think His disciples kept walking with Him? A perfect example is the feeding of the 5,000 by Jesus after Jesus had fed the people they came back the next day in need of food, but when Jesus explained to them that which was above physical food which is Himself, they deserted Him. But when He turned to His disciples asking them saying, “Do you also want to go away?” (John 6:67) but the disciples had come to an understanding that life was beyond eating and drinking, that is why Simon Peter answered saying, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also, we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (John 6:68-69), [ref. John 6:22-71].

Again, we should look at working with God as an all-expense paid trip as we do His work. And working for God is not like a job, let me explain. Someone told you a great news and you are so excited you just want to tell somebody, so the Holy Spirit guides you on how to share this good news. Also, we need to understand that Jesus takes care of us as He takes care of Himself exactly. But all these is just is a decision we are to make for ourselves if we want to be one with Christ or not, but I’ll tell you the truth, there is no life outside of Jesus Christ.

The Life God Wants You To Live

Hello everyone,

If we want to look at what I have been writing for some days it would seem confusing or should I say a contradiction as to the life God intended us to live which is would make us serve Him and not mammon. However, what I've not made known to you is the main thing which God intens us to do which would lead us to serving Him and not mammon which is to labour to enter His rest, in other words, we are to be at rest in Christ Jesus.

Some days ago, I was able to explain what this rest is all about. But when you take a look at Hebrews 4:11 which says, “Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.” The question now is how can one be diligent to enter rest, isn’t it just to go and rest, it doesn’t take any form of work or does it? The King James Version uses the word labour instead of diligent, still what is the labour for? Since man fell, he has been trying to fend for himself through the sweat of his brow and as a result of this, it was obvious this was what brought about the story of mammon. The devil, however, had been using mammon as a means to prevent Man from going back to God, since money is what man needs to get anything he wants. So the deceitfulness of riches popped in and Man kept falling into the trap and thinking they were serving God as some thought just added God as a checklist in order to ‘fulfil all righteousness.’ But this wasn’t the life God intended man to live.

Jesus was who man the incarnate form of God was the one who through His resurrection brought Grace to all mankind, in other words, we were all children of God from the very start, but we broke the relationship with God which Jesus had reconnected us back to God through His death and resurrection, so the benefits of being a son was restored, which only Jesus possessed, but through Grace, He gave us these same benefit through Him. Since we were not worthy enough, the only way to gain access to these benefits was by using His name to enter, in other words, the name of Jesus was an access code into entering into the blessings and benefits of becoming a son of God.

The point here is that since we have all things at our beck and call but because it sounds so good to be true, our hearts are too hardened to believe, what we are to do is to work ourselves into believing what God has made provisions for through Grace. This work is through the study and meditation of the word of God which explains everything to us, all these are what Hebrews 4:11 calls labour or diligence.

As we enter into this rest, we are guided into every step we take as the Holy Spirit become our guide and we have the word of God/Jesus abiding in us. Everything we do is made perfect and life becomes so full of Grace and we know what we are to do and this is how we are not guided or controlled by mammon, because at this point we would understand that everything we would ever need had been provided for long before we were born and mammon becomes our servant and not the other way round and now God is the one we truly serve.

How Does God Expect Us To Live? (Part 2)

Hi everyone,

Recently, I’ve been writing on how we cannot serve two masters as Jesus explained to us, I also explained that most of us have unknowingly been serving mammon. I then explained yesterday the process into living the life God intends us to live which is actually serving Him and not mammon. And using Matthew 6:25-34, I explained how we are not to worry about anything as God has provided all things we would ever need in this life. But isn’t this the same as what is being done already?

One thing we need to understand is that everything we would ever need has been provided for already, not in the future but now. As I said in my former write-ups, we are to live our lives as James Bond. His focus is on the mission and not on any other thing. God loves us beyond our imagination, and can never lie. So, what we need to know is our mission here on earth. And as each need arises, because it is needed, we get the exact need for the mission. For example, if you’re playing a game and the hero of the game got a car at level 3 in order to achieve the mission by saving the Princess, you won’t get the car in level 1 because it isn’t needed until you get to level 3.

We are on a mission which everything we ever need has been provided for, just listen to the Holy Spirit who directs on what next to do and at what exact time. We are not working to get because we already have. As you continue in Jesus, by believing, trusting and relying on Him you please the Lord, and Psalm 37:4 comes to pass which is, “delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” The desires of your heart come at the right time when you need them. God knows how to take care of His children, so He provides the right tool for the job.

We need to understand that in Christ, all things are ours as we are of Christ. Our Father is the owner of the universe and beyond, and we own the universe also, so we don’t lack anything, we call things forth at our disposal as they are needed. Remember, we have a mission to focus on, and as we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, He tells us how to speak forth and command things in line with the mission on ground.

One thing we need to know is that, as God is our Father and source, it won’t make sense for Him to send us on a mission on empty stomach, would it? We would just die of hunger. Didn’t you see how He addressed Simon Peter’s predicament of trying to get fish all night? Just because of what Jesus did, he found out that being with Jesus was everything. Don’t also forget, Jesus’ disciples weren’t Believers with the Holy Spirit, so if they were suffering, they would have left Him long ago. But the truth remained that Jesus was working on their understanding, to focus on the mission given to them and not their physical needs that had been taken care of.

We are bound to struggle and work for mammon the moment we are doing what we’re not called for. But once we know what we are called for and with the leading of the Holy Spirit, we walk our way to achieving what we have been called to do, and it is really a state of trust in Jesus Christ, just be sure of what you have been called for.

How Does God Expect Us To Live?

Happy New week everyone,

Yesterday, I took a closer look at what Jesus meant when He said we cannot serve two masters, and by two masters Jesus referred to God and mammon. I was able to establish that many Believers who are to serve God alone have unknowingly served mammon. I also said that money, which is deceitful riches is that which enslaves and degrades a person. It was then I asked that if many Believers had missed it, then what makes coming to Jesus any special, is it just eternal life which I’m sure a lot of us became Believers for so as to be on the safe side and still hustle as the common man in the world? Today, I will take a look at this issue.

I said yesterday that many of us have been enslaved by mammon unknowingly, and as such are serving mammon. So, what is the way Believers are to live if it kind of appears we are not to work for our pay? Let us take a look at a popular passage in the Bible in Matthew 6:25-34 where Jesus said we shouldn’t worry about anything, such as what to eat, drink or what to wear. Jesus went ahead by making an example using the birds of the air which neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, but yet God feeds them, what does this mean? It means that the birds do not depend on themselves but God, not just on God, but the leading of God which is very important.

The animals believe that God has provided for them, all they have to do is just to come out and find the food. Jesus’ point here is that man is more valuable than these animals and He knows what we need even before asking Him. He also said that it is the unbelievers that worry about what to eat, drink and other things.

But let’s think of it, is it wrong to worry about what to eat, drink or put on? Or maybe planning would be better what do you think? Alright, what did Jesus mean after all these He said we should “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33). To be very clear here, the kingdom of God is what God Himself has called each and every one of us to do right here on earth, which can only be discovered in Jesus Christ because He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. By doing this, we then discover our purpose here on earth as we get to know Him more through the study and meditation of His word.

Doesn’t our discovery still boil down to the same thing? To find out more, log on tomorrow.

Have You Been Putting Your Trust In God or Mammon?

Happy Sunday everyone,

Have you ever wondered what Jesus said both in Matthew 6:24 and Luke 16:19 that we cannot serve two masters, in other words, we cannot serve both God and mammon, Amplified version brought up other synonyms to mammon which includes, deceitful riches, money, possessions, or whatever is trusted in; yes many would say God didn’t say we shouldn’t use money, what He means is that we shouldn’t put our trust in money, and we are to put our trust in Him. But after my careful observation at what we do today, I asked myself, “Are we really putting our trust in God and not mammon?” and this is what I’d be looking at today.

What does it mean to put one’s trust in mammon? We go to work, labour throughout the month waiting for the last week or the end of the month to come because we are waiting for that pay in order to survive, in order to pay for our rent, kids school fees, foodstuffs, clothing, hospital bills and much more like this. Is this not slavery, and for who? Money. We then deceive ourselves by bringing God into the picture for Him to intervene in letting the pay come quickly or He should touch the heart of the boss to see your hard work that he should increase your pay. The point here in simple terms is that you have become a slave to money and you are limited by how much is given to you.

You could come up and tell me you are not enslaved by how much you earn, so I ask, why do you give Thanksgiving or testimony in church for a car that was given to you without payment or at a lower rate, or why do we give testimony in church for a hospital bill paid for or house rent paid for? The truth is that the amount you earn could not meet up to these things or else you wouldn’t have come out to give any testimony, or am I telling a lie?

Money has enslaved us and we didn’t know it all these while. If we struggle to earn money in order to enjoy the luxuries of life, then an unbeliever who is a billionaire shouldn’t bother coming to Jesus, because the so called Believers who want to bring people to Jesus are longing to have things which the billionaire doesn’t need to pray for. So where have we missed it, how come we pray to God for things which the billionaires already have or what a small god could easily provide? Don’t get it twisted saying, there is always a clause that the small god gives those who come to meet them. Seriously, I could put my sweat into my work, get an excellent degree or come up with a smart idea and get wealthy, isn’t that what the popular billionaire have been doing?

So, what makes coming to Jesus any special, is it just eternal life which I’m sure a lot of us became Believers for so as to be on the safe side and still hustle as the common man on the world? You need an answer? Then log on tomorrow as I reveal what went wrong and what Jesus Christ wants us to do as Believers.

Our Sacrifice for Others

Happy Weekend everyone,

The Message Bible puts 1 John 3:16-17 thus, “This is how we’ve come to understand and experience love: Christ sacrificed his life for us. This is why we ought to lay sacrificially for our fellow believers, and not just to be out for ourselves. If you some brother or sister in need and have the means to do something about it but turn a cold shoulder and do nothing, what happens to God’s love? It disappears. And you made it disappear.” Today’s topic is a continuation of yesterday’s topic.

1 John 3:16 emphasised on how we ought to do things sacrificially for our fellow believers, just as Christ Jesus was sacrificial to us as He laid down His life for us in order that we would live. But the love shouldn’t be expressed to the believers alone. Verse 17 of 1 John 3 says if we see a brother or sister in need, we shouldn’t turn a cold shoulder and do nothing. Sometimes we might say we don’t do such things, but when you look closer, you find out that we a time select those we would rather like to show love to, but this should not be. Our love in terms of help should be expressed to anyone in need when you have the means to help.

We often times condemn people, the way they dress or speak. We look at people who are not believers and do not have the class we can accommodate and condemn them, even when they are in need. The truth is that if that was how Christ treated us, nobody would be saved today. Also what we need to remind ourselves with is that we are sent as Ambassadors of Christ to the world, and it is Christ love shown through our way of life that not only meet these people in their time of need but also makes them want to follow Christ, this is so because it through Christ love for us that we are saved. We saw how in our condemned state He stretched out His hands in love towards us, thus accepting us, this is how we are to treat people because we are change agents.

When you truly meditate and understand the love Christ demonstrated towards us, we allow His love and not our love flow through us to the brothers and sisters around the world, because it is His love that saves, and we are to show this through our way of life.

The Poor in Spirit

Hello everyone,

The Sermon on the Mount by Jesus is very popular, which spans from Matthew 5 all the way to Matthew 7. This sermon has so loaded with many things educates one spiritually. My focus today would be on the Beatitudes.

As many scholars do, I looked up the word ‘beatitude’ from the dictionary which means, “Supreme, utmost bliss and happiness”. The beatitudes which Bible scholars popularly call it spanned from Matthew 5:3-12 [Luke 6:20-23]. One thing I got to understand about Jesus’ sermon was that He showed us the truth about what is expected of us in certain areas of our lives, not with pretence as many do, and how God view things also. So, the beatitudes which appears to refer to our physical person also has deep spiritual connotation involved.

Jesus started His sermon with the beatitudes and the first one He said, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Of course we all have an idea of what being blessed mean, although the Amplified put up synonyms for the word blessed as “happy, to the envied, and spiritually prosperous-with life-joy and satisfaction in God’s favour and salvation, regardless of their outward conditions.” But what really caught my attention was how Amplified depicted the one who is poor in the spirit as “the humble, who rate themselves insignificant.” The Message put Matthew 5:3 thus, “You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule.” It was then clear who the poor in the spirit were, and who are they?

1 Corinthians 1:26 and 27 says, “For [simply] consider your own call, brethren; not many [of you were considered to be] wise according to human estimates and standards, not many influential and powerful, not many of high and noble birth. 27 [No] for God selected (deliberately chose) what in the world is foolish to put the wise to shame, and what the world calls weak to put the strong to shame.” AMP. Verse 29 says, “So that no mortal man should [have pretence for glorying and] boast in the presence of God.” AMP. The poor in the spirit are those who don’t look unto their self-effort when they look unto God, in other words, they understand that there is nothing they would do physically that is good enough to present to God, in other word they understand that it is not of works that they received the grace and mercy of God (ref.: Ephesians 2:8), these are the poor in Spirit, and Jesus said the kingdom of heaven is theirs.

Everyone born of God is expected to be poor in the spirit, not holding on to any self-effort in getting to the top with God. Working with God can never be done with self-effort, but with God’s effort as God empowers us to work for Him, and this is so when we are poor in the spirit. Really, the Sons of God are meant to inherit the kingdom of heaven, so be led by the spirit and not by your carnal mind then you would be poor in spirit and see how the kingdom of heaven had always been yours.

They Don't Deserve Mercy But...

Hello everyone,

Are there people in your life who you hold a grudge on, maybe because of what they did, and you feel you can never forgive that person ever? Well, true, there are people who really don’t deserve forgiveness, some could be because after all you did for them, spending your hard earned money on them, they later made it in life and now they spite you as though you never did anything for them, all these are the challenges even after becoming a Son of God, you still face. Today’s write-up is about mercy and how it can be fused into our daily lives and how important it is.

In Matthew 5:7, Jesus said, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.” The Amplified Bible puts it thus: “Blessed (happy, to be envied, and spiritually prosperous-with life-joy and satisfaction in God’s favour and salvation, regardless of their outward conditions) are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy!” Just take a look at the synonyms used in classifying the word “blessed” expressed by the Amplified Bible, it shows the great level of importance of mercy. To be merciful is to express compassion, care, forgiveness, love not just to your friends and family, but also to those you don’t like and don’t know [strangers], as the expression of mercy must be sincere, well only God knows those who are truly sincere, and it is the sincere ones that Jesus was talking about in Matthew 5:7.

The Samaritans in the time of Jesus were those who were spited by the Jews. The Jews spited them so much that they didn’t want to have any dealings with them to the point where the Jews washed their hands if they had any contact with the Samaritans. But Jesus (after being asked by someone who wanted to know who his neighbour was), gave a parable of a man who went down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, beat him up to the point where he was left half dead. The so called “men of God” saw him and passed by, paying more attention to where they were going. It was then a Samaritan who saw him then had compassion, in other words, he had mercy on him. The man who was half dead was most likely a Jew, but the Samaritan didn’t put that in mind, as some at that point would have said, “Yes! This is good for him, the Lord has started avenging my enemies”, but the Samaritan on the contrary, cared for him, cleaned his wounds, and took him to an inn where he was looked after. Not only that, he paid the innkeeper, wow! He showed mercy to his “enemy”. What we fail to understand is that our religious worship isn’t what God looks at, but our attitude to people and way of life, not by being religious, but by expressing love and mercy. Sincere mercy and love can never come from the devil, especially when it is your enemy involved, this is why God cherish those who show mercy.

Psalms 41:1 says, “Blessed is he who considers the poor; the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.” There are those who are in need around us, we are to help them, we are to show sincere mercy and compassion to them, God sees all these things, which is why Jesus said those who are merciful will obtain mercy. The Message puts Matthew 5:7 thus, “You’re blessed when you care. At the moment of being ‘care-full,’ you find yourselves cared for.” This is true as God will send care to you just because you cared for others, this is the true religion Apostle James was talking about, not the one the priest and the Levite displayed in the parable of the Good Samaritan. And all these starts from opening up your heart to forgive those who have offended you, yes, you were hurt, but of what good is it to you? It is even bad for your health to hold unto grudges. Jesus said in Mark 11:25, “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.” Now, it is not that Jesus won’t forgive us, of which He did so on the cross, but, you are preventing His grace to flow through you as you are holding back by not forgiving those who have wronged you. Remember, you are not just to study the word, but you are to express it in everything in your daily lives, because it should be your life itself. Christ showed us mercy that while we were yet sinners He died for us (ref.: Romans 5:8), we are now to receive His Spirit as our new nature in order to express the true and sincere love, mercy, compassion to those around us. Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy.

Who Are Those Responsible For Peace Making?

Hi everyone,

We all hear things like World Peace and how the world has tried to end conflict to bring peace, but conflict is on the increase, nation rising against nation, terrorism on the rise and so on. It is then clear to say that the manner of approach in solving this world problems is totally wrong. But there are those whose lives are to be peace makers. Matthew 5:9 says, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” The Amplified Bible says the peacemakers are “makers and maintainers of peace.” The Message Bible puts Matthew 5:9 thus, “You’re blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight. That’s when you discover who you really are, and your place in God’s family.” Going by this verse, the sons of God are peacemakers because peace making is a criterion which makes one become a son of God.

Romans 8:14 says, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” This would mean that being led by the Spirit of God includes being peacemakers which makes one become a son of God. But one thing you are to understand is that being a son of God is to be a peacemaker. One thing is that unlike the world’s way of solving problems, the sons of God are led by the Holy Spirit. This is very important because without the Holy Spirit’s leading you cannot be true peacemakers.

Sons of God are not just to occupy space here on earth without doing anything, are to bring peace to the world, because if there is no peace on earth, you know who to blame, so sons of God, do your job.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Your Attitude To Things Sells You

Hello everyone,

When you know little about a thing, you won’t be able to express yourself properly when asked about that thing. For instance a course in school, if you know little about it, when asked questions in the examination about that course, you won’t be able to express yourself properly because you know little about the course. But when you’ve gotten a good grip about the course, there won’t be any question you won’t be able to answer, just because you have a proper understanding on the course. Likewise a Son or Daughter of God, being born again is just the beginning, having a full grip on who you truly are, or on who Christ is and how He affects you, is of utmost importance.

Apostle Paul in Colossians 3:16 asks us to, “Let the word [spoken by] Christ (the Messiah) have its home [in your hearts and minds] and dwell in you in [all its] richness, as you teach and admonish and train one another in all insight and intelligence and wisdom [in spiritual things, and as you sing] psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody to God with [His] grace in your hearts.” We are not just to know the word of God, rather we are to have it in our hearts and mind, and thus, becoming our natural way of life, which would influence how we speak or interact with people around us.

The word of God is filled with wisdom and intelligence, in the real sense, it is wisdom and intelligence itself. And as we are filled with the Holy Spirit we admonish people with hymns and spiritual songs, making melody to God. There is no way you won’t want to praise God which admonishes people, so Paul is saying we should let it out and not keep it inside of us, because God is worthy to be praised. Let us be filled with the word of God because the word of God shows us who we are and makes us grow in grace of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

What Is True Respect for Governing Authorities?

Happy New week everyone,

It is right to always respect the authority of the government just we are advised in Romans 13:1-7, but when we look at our government in this present day and age, some things could make you not respect the government. Well, that doesn’t mean Apostle Paul never had things that were issues to him from the government, so what did he mean by being subject to the governing authorities?

Romans 13:1 says, “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinances of God, and those who resist will bring judgement on themselves.” The truth of the whole matter is that we are always to be subject to the governing authorities if and only if they are subject to God. This is important because Romans 13:1 emphasised that there is no authority except from God and that all authorities are appointed from God. This is why you cannot be subject to an authority that isn’t subject to God.

God is the supreme authority, which as Sons and Daughters of God you honour because He lives in you and is your life, so you, being subject to any governing authority should be being subject to God because that authority is subject to God, but if the authority isn’t subject to God, you cannot serve two masters, you are either for God or against Him. You are to stand for the truth and promote it.

With some laws put in place in some countries where homosexuality is seen as normal, this isn’t being subject to God because that isn’t how God made us. God made Adam and Eve and not Adam and Steve, this is already established in the Bible that man and woman He made them, to procreate the earth. Governing authorities ignoring unlawful actions and promoting severe inequality in the land, all these are not being subject to God and should not be obeyed.

The Holy Spirit establishes what the word of God says, He interprets to us what the word of God says for the transformation of our soul, and He cannot go outside what the word has established. We should be mindful of satan's devices as he is a mastermind in twisting the scriptures to confuse the church and the world as a whole. Anyone who isn’t subject to God is not to be subject to, that doesn’t mean you should rebel against the government. What you are meant to do is to be subject to God as He leads you when you worship and praise Him, and do what He tells you to do, and not you taking laws into your own hands.

Daniel is an example of remaining subject to God when the governing authority is no longer subject to God. The governors and satraps created a plot against Daniel: All the governors of the kingdom, the administrators and satraps, the counsellors and advisors, have consulted together to establish a royal statute and to make a firm decree, that whoever petitions any god or man for thirty days, except you, O king shall be cast into the den of lions. 10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.” Daniel 6:7 & 10.

Daniel did what he normally does because he feared God and not man. In other words, God’s decree was weightier than any other decree. Peter and John were arrested after they made the crippled man walk. After being arrested and released, the authorities warned them not to speak at all or teach in the name of Jesus. This was Peter and John’s response, “But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” Acts 4:19-20. Peter also said in Acts 5:29, "Then Peter and the apostles replied, We must obey God rather than men." AMP. God is the one we are subject to and not man. We obey God and not man, and we become subject to any authority that is subject to God because that authority was truly placed by God.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why Being Meek Isn't Being Weak

Happy Sunday everyone,

Many times I wanted to know what being meek really meant, and I found out that it was a deeper form of humility, wow, that must be really serious because being humble isn’t what everyone just intend to display especially the way the world is, not to talk of being meek. Meekness as I understand isn’t what man displays naturally, it is a rare nature which God treasures a lot, because it is one of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Today, I’ll be looking at what would happen to those who are meek.

Jesus in His sermon on the mount said in Matthew 5:5, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” Wow, that’s serious, Psalms 37:11, says, “But the meek shall inherit the earth, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.” It is clear that those who are meek shall inherit the earth. The Message Bible puts Matthew 5:5 thus, “You’re blessed when you’re content with just who you are—no more, no less. That’s the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can’t be bought.”

To be meek is not what anyone would just want to be going its synonyms: the mild, patient, long-suffering. With the way the world is being proud is the way forward, being meek requires the presence of the Holy Spirit, which becomes the eventual nature of anyone who receives the Holy Spirit and works with Him. Jesus said the meek shall inherit the earth.

To be meek doesn’t mean being gullible or being weak, it means being wise when you look at it in the long run. And in the case where you walk with Holy Spirit, it means counting your wisdom and human acquisitions as anything, it also means being submissive, by being ready to drop yours and ready follow the Wisdom beyond wisdoms, as God Himself would always give grace to the humble and one of it is that they would inherit the earth, (ref.: 1 Peter 5:5-7). You are blessed when you are meek and there is the grace of inheriting the earth for being so, so be receive the Holy Spirit today, walk with Him and see yourself being meek and you’ll see how everything works to your favour.
