Sin and Sins Are Not The Same

Happy New Week everyone,

My last write-up was focused on meditation, but not just meditation as we’ve often heard it, rather a meditation that produces the result, with something as little as meditating on a new scripture verse every day. And as I said, a scripture verse a day keeps sins away. Today is sort of a continuation from yesterday’s write-up.

When Jesus died on the cross, sin [singular] was nailed to the cross. And as 2 Corinthians 5:21 makes us understand that God made Jesus sin, thus taking the sin we inherited from the first Adam, and in exchange, we received His righteousness. But why do we still act in some cases as though sin wasn’t cleared from us especially after receiving Jesus as Lord of our life?

The answer is simple, the sin Jesus removed from our life was our actually our nature or our life itself, which He replaced with a new life which is His righteousness. The sinful characteristics we sometimes display is where the word sins come in, and it isn’t our life but a bad habit as a result of being ignorant of the Word of God or mixing with people who constantly portray that bad habit.

We must not forget that we became the righteousness of God not by our good works, but by Grace. Our works is then to show who we really are—the righteousness of God. But then again it is meant to happen naturally as a result of our constant meditation on the Word of God, which tells us who we really are. And because righteousness is in our blood, we then display the acts of righteousness through our works which is a gradual process because we are meant to portray the fullness of Christ completely.

As I wrote yesterday when we meditate on the Word of God day and night consistently, with as little as a verse a day, we won’t have time to mix with things that are not of our new nature. You cannot force yourself to act righteous, it is a process your mind needs to adapt to, even though your Spirit is already the righteousness of God which is your true nature, your mind has to be renewed to act that way.

In conclusion, sin has been taken away from you permanently by Jesus and has been replaced with His righteousness. The sins we see is plural which is different from the sin Jesus took away which was our former nature. The sinful attributes being displayed isn’t your nature, but a level of ignorance on not knowing who you truly are, which then appears as a bad habit [sins]. This is cleared off by consistent meditation on the Word of God day and night which then allows your true nature of righteousness manifest through your works. God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Ephesians 2:8 NLT.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
