Do Not Settle For Less! (Part 2)

Hi everyone,

Jesus said in Matthew 11:12, “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.” This verse is very popular, but what Jesus was saying is that the kingdom of heaven is constantly under attack, but only those who are violent and sure of where they stand, can rightfully take what is theirs.

Let’s look at the temptation of Jesus for a moment. As He was attacked by the devil, He countered it with the word of God. He was loaded with relevant scriptures that aided Him in overcoming the temptation. And remember He had the Holy Spirit in Him who guided Him on the right scriptures to use in countering the temptation. Also, take a look at Peter who tried to convince Jesus not to go to the cross, yeah, Peter was caring right? But, when you know that what is contrary to where God is leading you, it is from the devil, and Jesus recognised it immediately, which was why He rebuked the devil using Peter, (ref. Matthew 16:21-23; Mark 8:31-33).

You must be alert at all times like a soldier at the war front. One thing is clear, the devil doesn’t want you to do what God has called you to do, or to believe what God has made you become in Christ Jesus. So, no matter how cute or nice the voice may come, irrespective of the person. Once it contradicts who you are now in Christ, it is from the devil.

Be violent! Make use of the word, this is why we need to meditate on the word day and night, which strengthens our faith which is our Spiritual shield which quenches the fiery darts of the devil, and the word of God which is the sword of the Spirit that destroys any hindrance placed by the devil on our path, (ref. Ephesians 6:10-20). This is not a child’s play at all.

The mind must be fixed on who it really is, and not be distracted by the devil. A similar example is when Peter walked on water. He was fixed on Jesus, but as he reasoned with his senses, what he was doing didn’t make sense to him, then he began to sink, (ref. Matthew 14:25-33).

In conclusion, we must teach our mind who it has become by reading to it the word of God and dwelling on it. As you dwell on it through confession and meditation, there is transformation and renewal. Always see yourself as a Victor already, and remember, the devil is a wimp but he is an expert in distraction, for those who are not alert. So stay alert!

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
