The Renewal Process

Today's write-up is more or less a refresher, to remind us of what happened after the born-again experience.

Romans 12:2 says, "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."

Now, as Sons and Daughters of God, the process of renewal is continuous, because just as Apostle Paul said in Ephesians 4, we are to keep growing until we attain the manner and stature of Christ Jesus (ref.: Ephesians 4:13).

Our Spirit was saved, but not our soul and body.

Just a quick one, we are Spirit beings, possess a soul and live in a body. And the key part of our existence, that is our Spirit, was saved. Our Spirit is us, while the soul is the connectivity between the spirit and the physical realm. The soul is where we find our conscience, the mind, will, and emotion.

Our Spirit now contains the fullness of God, the same Spirit of Jesus, because he is God. The soul is the door to the body, and needs to understand the changes. This is where the renewal of the mind comes in.

So, what is the renewal of the mind?

To answer this, let's look at Romans 12:1, which says, "Beloved friends, what should be our proper response to God’s marvelous mercies? To surrender yourselves to God to be his sacred, living sacrifices. And live in holiness, experiencing all that delights his heart. For this becomes your genuine expression of worship." TPT.

To renew our minds, we first of all in light of God's mercies towards us, surrender ourselves to God. To surrender here doesn't mean as a slave to a master but as a Son to his Father. A Son trusts his Father, and surrenders to him easily, ready to do whatever his Father asks him to do because he has first of all seen the great love his Father has towards him and that he is ready to do anything his Father asks him to do.

Likewise, as Sons and Daughters of God, if we properly understand the love and mercy God has shed towards us by Grace through faith in Christ Jesus, it allows us to be a true Son to our Father God Almighty. Seeing that no one else can love and be more merciful to us as He is.

John 15:13 says, "No one has greater love [no one has shown stronger affection] than to lay down (give up) his own life for his friends." AMPC. To see God in this light after what He has done for us allows us to be a living sacrifice, Holy and acceptable unto Him, as a sincere Son to his Father. By this, we are then able to renew our minds.

The mind is convinced to allow the new nature of the Spirit to flow through every part of the soul which naturally affects the body. For the body is a reflection of the soul.

Trust is key, as the experience of His love towards us allows us to trust Him. And there is no end to knowing how much God loves us. Coming as Christ Jesus, expressing Himself among us to have a feel of His love and compassion, it is now left to us to receive that mercy, love and grace towards us.

So, the renewal of the mind is a process and is caused by knowing how much He loves us. As 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 says, "For it is Christ’s love that fuels our passion and holds us tightly, because we are convinced that he has given his life for all of us. This means all died with him, ¹⁵ so that those who live should no longer live self-absorbed lives but lives that are poured out for him—the one who died for us and now lives again." TPT. And by this, we will prove that good, acceptable, perfect will of God.

God bless you. Have a blessed day.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t? Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
