In All Things Give Thanks

Give thanks.

When was the last time you were grateful to God? True, God is our heavenly Father we pray to Him for our needs, but really, when last did you give thanks?

Giving thanks for some is just a cliché when praying, sort of like following a praying format. But the question we need to ask is why we are to give God thanks. Really, have you ever asked yourself why we are to give God thanks?

Let's take a look at 1 Thessalonians 5:18. It says, "in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." To give thanks is the will of God in Jesus for us.

We understand that it is when a person gives you something or does you a favour, then what comes next is to thank the person. To thank is the effect of a cause. We cannot just thank without a reason.

Now, God won't want us to give Him thanks always if He hasn't offered us something, but this time it is someone.

God gave us His best gift--Jesus, and to accept Jesus is to accept the answer to our prayers, the answer to our hope. There is nothing that we will ever need in this life that Jesus hasn't answered.

Once every issue comes from sin, and Jesus has put an end to the sin issue, it is a strong reason to always give God thanks. But that is one reason.

God offered us His best, we are to receive Him (Jesus) as our new life. It is left to activate the Jesus in us through the meditation and the leading of the Holy Spirit. And to give God thanks reminds us of what God has ALREADY done, and not what He is yet to do. This is very important to note.

We are to live and walk by faith, and not by sight, (ref.: 2 Corinthians 5:7). And whatever case may pop up in the future, thanksgiving to God reminds us that He, through Christ Jesus has sorted it out. All we need to do is believe. Of course, we must meditate on His word day and night, and be led by the Holy Spirit, who reminds us of what Jesus has done, and we give thanks.

Thanksgiving helps to strengthen our faith because if we don't remember what Jesus did for us we won't give thanks. And if we give thanks just for the sake of it, without knowing why, we will offer an empty Thanksgiving.

So, let us always give God thanks to strengthen our faith, and allow Christ Jesus to manifest more and more in our lives.

God bless you.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t? Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
