Happy Sunday everyone,
In some of my last write-ups, I emphasised that we are righteous not by our effort but by what Jesus did, which is very important. The question now would be, ‘what was the essence of the law, wasn’t it important?’ The law was important, but only for an era. The law was meant to reveal something very important which has been done. And since it has been fulfilled, you don’t rest on it anymore, what you now rest on is what it revealed. To buttress my point further, Prophet Isaiah prophesied about a virgin who would conceive. Before the virgin’s conception, it was important to rest on that prophecy, but the moment it has manifested or come to pass, you don’t rest on it any longer, instead, you move to what had manifested.
Jesus said in Matthew 5:17 that He didn’t come to destroy the law, but to fulfill; fulfill could also mean to complete, that is to say, that the law purpose ends with Jesus. This also applies to the Prophets before Jesus. Romans 10:4 says Jesus is the end of the law. But what was the law talking about?
The law itself is perfect, but those were to keep or follow it couldn’t keep it. In other words, the purpose of the law was to show us that we can’t meet up to God’s standard and that we need a saviour, which was why Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 3:21 which says, “But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets.” This verse came after verse 20 which says, “Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.” Romans 3:20 was saying that in our keeping of the law we found out that we are not justified in the sight of God, verse 21 tells us that there is now the righteousness apart from the law which has been revealed to us, in other words, this source of righteousness does not require you to keep the law in order to attain it. So what is this new source? Log on tomorrow same time to find out.
May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.
Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
Log on next time.
