Being The Doer (Part 1)

Hello everyone,

When I was younger, there were times my mum or dad gave me instructions or gave me certain pieces of training, after which they would ask me if I got all they said, and my answer would be “yes”. But when they don’t see me do what they told me, it would appear to them that I didn’t listen to them when they were speaking. The same applies to every child of God when they listen to the Word of God. Apostle James said in James 1:22, “But be doers of the Word [obey the message], and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves [into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth].” AMP.

The Bible says in Romans 10:17 that faith comes by hearing, and what is being heard comes from the Word of God. So, when you really hear the Word of God, it brings or strengthens the faith in you. And if truly you have faith after hearing the Word of God, it affects your way of life, in other words, your doings are guided by what you heard, which implies that the Word remained in you.

The Message Bible puts James 1:22-24 thus, “Don’t fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener when you are anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other. Act on what you hear! Those who hear and don’t act are like those who glance in the mirror, walk away, and two minutes later have no idea who they are, what they look like.” There is no way what you listen to doesn’t affect your actions, in other words, you are what you listen to. When you really listen to the Word of God, you act the Word of God, likewise, when you really listen to something order than the Word of God, you act that thing. It won’t happen immediately, but as seeds are, so are words, and what you listen to the most you display its attributes through your actions.

But the Word is alive and is God Himself. The Word transforms for the good of the life of anyone who yields to Him [the Word of God].

Psalms 1 talks about the man who meditates on the Word of God day and night, he ended up living the Word. And the Word made everything he did successfully. He didn’t just hear the Word, he lived the Word. This is how you manifest the fullness of Christ Jesus in your daily life.

A person who hears the Word but doesn’t do it didn’t actually pay attention to the Word or didn’t take it seriously. Let us take the Word of God seriously and meditate on it, and our faith in Christ Jesus will increase and we would see the promises of God for our lives manifest.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!

Do Not Lose Heart

Hello everyone,

2 Corinthians 5:7 says, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” In Romans 1:16 Apostle Paul says, he is not ashamed of the gospel of Christ because that is where the power of salvation lies for all who believes. Then he said in verse 17 of Romans 1 “For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.” Living the life of righteousness, which is the life of Christ requires a life of faith and trust in all that God has given us by Grace. But have you been in a situation where you held on to what God said you

received by Grace through faith in Jesus, but hasn’t yet materialised, most likely because the set time for it to materialise physically hasn’t come, and it starts to appear as though you’ve been wasting your time? Yeah, I’ve been there many times, but Galatians 6:9 encourages us saying, “And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint.” AMPLIFIED.

In the days that we are in there are so many things that could make you get discouraged and if care isn’t taken, you could be weak and lose hope on that which Christ has promised you. But we really need to understand that we should not expect a free life without any attacks from the evil one. Holding on to what God has given you in Christ Jesus is what the evil one doesn’t want you to hold on to, so he does everything to get you discouraged. But God is merciful as we have the Holy Spirit who is our strengthener and comforter, the One who encourages us to keep on keeping on.

Another thing we shouldn’t forget is that as long as God said it, then it is true. Everything God says must come to pass no matter what happens because He said it and He honours His word more than anything. So don’t lose hope, ask the Lord for strength to keep on keeping on, and the Holy Spirit would come as your guide, comfort and strength till God’s word come to pass in your life.

Have Love For One Another

Hello everyone,

Living your life here on earth after receiving Jesus as your Lord and Saviour should always reflect how we treat others, not necessarily on literarily teaching them about Jesus, but what your attitude portray even without saying anything. Apostle Peter said in 1 Peter 4:8-9, “And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” 9 Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.” One thing we must understand is that when Jesus became our life, love became our life also. We are meant to reflect our life, and as we know, God is love Who we are to reflect in all that we do.

Today we can understand love because we received love first from God Himself who is love, and because of that, we can have, love for one another. As we interact with people, we should always remember the love Christ showed to us even when we didn’t love Him. We were meant to be destroyed but Jesus took our place, for there is no greater love than this. Therefore, we should be quick to forgive because there is no sin anyone can commit against us that is up to that which Christ took on our behalf.

As we are quick to forgive, doesn’t mean we should be gullible in relating with people. Some people could lose our trust based on what they did, which means they would have earned it back, but this is different from forgiving the person based on love. We should also be hospitable to one another easily without grumbling and this is done through love and not pretence.

Let us always reflect the life that we have obtained from God through Christ Jesus. And as we continually get transformed by the renewal of our minds, it allows us to manifest the fullness of Christ as we interact with people.

How Big Is GOD To You?

Happy New Week everyone,

Life is full of challenges here and there, and to stand strong is only by the grace of GOD. From one health challenge to financial challenge to the challenges you face at work to the challenges of raising your children, ensuring they are brought up in the Way they should go, and many more. It is then that someone comes to you while facing these challenges, telling you to put your trust in GOD. This would sound so

annoying that you could chase the person out because at the moment, many do not really go to GOD when they face these challenges, especially when they're hit so hard. They worry a lot, look up to heaven and with a deep sigh say, “Oh GOD, help me”, and then continue to find out ways they would sort these problems out by themselves. Another contradiction is that they commit their problems to GOD and after that go back to their worries by searching for help everywhere as though they never committed their worries to the LORD. The reason why all these keep happening is that we don’t know how big GOD is when compared to these things that we call problems. These problems are nothing to GOD, but we haven’t properly come to that understanding yet, if we truly have, then we would only look up to HIM and no one else, with full confidence and assurance that the problem is gone because you handed it over to HIM. But do you really know GOD?

A popular story in the Bible in Numbers 13 where GOD told Moses to send men to spy out the land of Canaan. There were twelve who went, and ten came back with logically understandable [negative] reasons why they couldn’t go up against the inhabitants of the land, while just two came back with good report saying in Numbers 14:7-8 which says, “The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. If the LORD delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey.’” Then they said something very important in verse nine, “Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the LORD is with us. Do not fear them.”

Joshua and Caleb who were the two who came back with good report had their confidence not in human logic, but on the LORD, they knew who GOD is, which is very important. Only when you know a person, would you know how much confidence to put in him, but you cannot know GOD and put little confidence in HIM, it is not possible, even though things may appear tough as it was for the spies, but because those who knew their GOD understood their challenges was a piece of cake to GOD.

Jeremiah 32:27 says, “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for Me?” there is nothing that is too hard for to GOD, but it is until you know who GOD is that you can have this confidence in HIM to handle all your challenges. Daniel 11:32b says, “…but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.”

You cannot see the miraculous in your life if you don’t have confidence in GOD. He is your Father and HE is always ready to listen to you and HE always has the answer to every problem or challenge, even to what we may consider irrelevant. Know GOD today, know HIM more and more, you can study the Bible, which is the word of GOD to know HIM more, and with the Holy Spirit to interpret or make it clear, this helps to open up who GOD is and you would see your life get transformed as your challenges are tackled.

There Is A Secret Place

Happy Sunday everyone,

I went through Psalm 91:1-2, which is quite popular, and it says, “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.” I always quoted these verses, especially verse 1, but there is a thing to quote a scripture verse and another thing to properly understand what it means especially in this new dispensation of the finished work of Jesus. If you’ve been following my blog what I’m about to tell you is just what is to refresh your memory.

I started with the keyword “secret place”, which some other translations put as “shelter”. A shelter is a safe place where no danger could come, and now this is not just a shelter, but a shelter of the Most High God. Then the verse continues saying the person who dwells in the secret place would abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Now, the keyword in the second part of verse 1 is “shadow”. To abide under the shadow implies the person is covering you like a shade, and in this case, the shadow serves as protection in the sense of nobody seeing you but the Almighty. Verse 1 being a powerful verse made me understand to what length God has decided to protect us.

Colossians 3:3-4 which explains how as we switched over to a brand new life by being born again, our lives now hidden in Christ and verse 4 explains how Christ then becomes our lives. This then explains what Psalm 91:1 really means, as we died, our new life which is under Christ became hidden in Christ, which means Christ became our "us", so if anyone is coming to challenge you, they don’t see you, it is Christ they meet because He has chosen to become our lives.

So, what challenges are you facing today, just name it? Is it sickness, poverty, depression, marital issues, stress, they all have a name and the One whose name is above every and any other name is your protector and covering, the one whom they would meet if they intend to attack you. Just know that Jesus is standing as you protecting you from anything that isn't from God, this is why verse 2 came about which says, “I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.””. It is after the experience of verse 1 that the person in question would be able to testify that God Almighty is his/her refuge and fortress, the One whom he/she would trust. But the question here is, does this happen automatically, what do I mean by that?

The beginning of verse 1 of Psalm 91 says, “He who dwells…” which implies it is a choice we have to make for ourselves, and this can only happen if you’re ready to trust God. His ways may seem not to make sense, but remember, He is God Almighty who knows the end from the beginning. Humility is when you cast all your burdens upon Jesus, in other words letting go and allowing God to take over your life.

The creator can never make a mistake and the great news is that He put you in Himself, which shows someone who cares. Trust is always the keyword, what do you have to lose? It’s not like your ways were better in the first place. Learn to trust God and you would enter the high incomprehensible level God has always had for you.

The Devil Is Afraid of You!

Happy Weekend everyone,

In one of my blog post, I took a look at the reason why the person in Psalm 1:1-3 was always successful at everything done, and I related it to being able to overcome trials and temptations easily through the constant meditation of the word of God. Back then it was the law, but for us now it is the undiluted word of God in our heart.

Now, many of us claim to have attacks from the devil, such as health attacks which have been standing in their way from achieving great victory; they talk of demonic spirit in a place, how they’ve battled with it in order to go where they are going. Let me tell you the mistake you’ve been making, you’ve been ignoring all these while and the devil has been taking advantage of your ignorance ever since. You must understand that the devil has been a defeated foe before the creation of the world, but officially at the resurrection of Jesus because Jesus stripped the devil of all powers and principalities [ref. Colossians 2:15], and you have to know that. So, the devil knew you did not know, so he made use of your ignorance.

Another mistake you’ve been making is that you’ve been fighting with your strength, thinking you are going to win that way. Still again, you think the devil is at your level or maybe even stronger, so you had to fight very hard with your ignorant misinterpretation of “fight the good fight of faith”. All these are what I count as rubbish.

Now, this is the truth; the devil as I said has been defeated and you need to know that; again, the devil from the very beginning was lower than you even before he rebelled against God. Remember, he was an angel, and angels are our servants, so what made him stronger after being kicked out of heaven? NOTHING! He became even more useless. I have said this before and I’ll say this again, the only power the devil has is the power of deceit, speaking into one’s mind. He paints false pictures which we ignorantly believe and think we are under attack when we would have just rebuked it with the word of God all along.

We do not need to fight the devil ever again, why? This is because the battle had been won, not by you, but by Jesus and He has given us His victory through Grace. This is why we do not fight for victory, but from the victory which is the true good fight of faith, by believing all that Jesus has done for us, and following Him as He directs us. Remember, we are in Him and we are to allow His words to be in us.

Finally, this is why the devil can NEVER attack us. The devil is a spirit being, so he sees with the spiritual eye, and if you are in Christ, the devil doesn’t see you anymore, instead, he sees Jesus, whom he is no match for in any form, not even in his imagination. This is why we need to know this and not be ignorant children of God. But if you’ve not accepted Jesus as Lord, you are not in Him (Christ) and the devil would just be tormenting your mind. It is the mind the devil torments and nothing else, even if you are not born again. HE DOESN’T HAVE ANY POWER OF HIS OWN.

Ignorance in the word is very terrible, we need to constantly keep ourselves fit in the word by constantly meditating on the word, all that Jesus has done for us and most especially believing and confessing it. It is the believing and the confessing the word in humility that drives the devil away (ref.: James 4:7). And when you are well grounded in an area spiritually it appears the devil has left you because you he knows who is boss. He leaves you and targets the areas you are still working on. So, you see it is an ongoing process which you must not take for granted.

Faith, Optimism, and Understanding the Times

Hello everyone,

There is something I have observed in the way some born again people behave and I call it a twist of faith. Hmmm... I’ll try to explain it in the best way I can for proper understanding. Many times, when some, who are born again maybe want to get a house for example but have no money, they then start claiming a house that they want. Now, this is not where I am heading to, where I am heading is that they do not declare out of faith but out of desperation through optimism. This is not faith, rather it is optimism!

Optimism could be seen as a tendency to expect the best, or at least, a favourable outcome. This is not how those who are in Christ should live their lives. Again, those who live with optimism, do not do so with optimism alone, they are also desperate and this causes anxiety.

In many cases, you find those who could afford the house not claiming a house because they can afford the house. So what has been wrong? The answer is they have a wrong understanding on what faith is.

As persons in Christ, we must understand what and why we were brought here on earth to do. In the prayer Apostle Paul made to the Ephesians which applies to every person in Christ, he prayed that we may receive the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of God, then he continued in verse 18 of Ephesians 1, “…having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints…” ESV. It is important for every person in Christ to know why they were born on earth, as everybody has a purpose which God has called us to do. It is by this we are then enlightened through the Holy Spirit as He guides us through word of God which spells out who we are and what God has done for us through Jesus Christ.

Now, as we keep understanding our calling here on earth, it is important that we understand that everything that pertains to our calling has been provided for us long before we were born, these things have been made available by the grace of God, it is then up to us to know what these things are that we then claim or take them through faith in Jesus, this is where faith comes in!

The reason why this is important is that many of us claim what isn’t ours even as we understand that all things are ours, but anything that God has provided for us, has a purpose in our lives, and we call them at the right time. A builder of a house doesn’t put the roof first when he is constructing the house, he understands what to put and when to put them, and everything has a purpose and a timing.

So, we must know if a thing has to do with our calling and if it is the right time to claim them, this is faith because money isn’t the determining factor only but understanding the times and seasons are determining factors also. And this is how Jesus lived when He was here on earth, as you would observe, how He never got anything wrong.

Faith isn’t optimism because optimism is an act of staying positive without necessarily knowing what is coming exactly, but faith, on the other hand, is that which you know what is even when people do not see it which you have claimed as yours.

Understand your calling, and you won’t claim things wrongly in order to prevent you from getting frustrated when nothing happens.
