For Without HIM, We Can Do Nothing

You know, the ten lepers who came to Jesus Christ is one story that really strikes me. Jesus told them to go to the Priest, and they obeyed and were on their way to the Priest. The only reason why you go to the Priest, in the case of the lepers, is that you are cleansed. Thus, the leprosy is gone. But the lepers obeyed Jesus and were on their way to the Priest, even when they weren’t yet cleansed at that exact moment, wow! (ref.: Luke 17:11-19).

The Bible says in Hebrews 11:1 that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the
evidence not seen. Their focus wasn’t on their bodies being cleansed, when you come to think of it deeply, their focus was on the fact that it was Jesus who said it. They believed Jesus blindly. This is how we are meant to believe Jesus because He is perfect.

Do you know why we are to believe Jesus blindly? Jesus believed God blindly, if at all we want to put it in that light. This doesn’t mean we should not think, but for the fact that we know who spoke and we know His track record, using our minds to think this through then allows us to believe Jesus blindly. And for the lepers, their belief in Jesus brought about their healing.

Now, let me explain why grace is given to you. Have you ever questioned God on why He would give us certain things because we feel our life doesn’t merit it in any way, especially when it has to do with physical stuff? After all, we feel grace is more of the spiritual stuff? First of all, when the Jews after Jesus had fed the five thousand men, they came to Him the next day asking Him to give them food again. But Jesus told them not to labour for the food that spoils but for food that endures for eternal life, which only He can give. Then they asked Jesus what work they needed to do that would be the works of God. Jesus then answered that the work of God is that they believe in Him (Jesus) whom God had sent (ref.: John 6:26-29). This is what applies to everyone born again, and it is a serious thing to take note of.

As Sons and Daughters of God, we have the life of Christ Jesus and the Holy Spirit to lead and direct us. Why is this very important? It is important because God didn’t give us anything! Health, wealth, new life etc. Shocking?

Romans 8:17 says we are now joint heirs with Christ Jesus, thus becoming one with Christ Jesus to whom the Father gave all things. The ‘you’ that you think exist died. You were bought with a price (ref.: 1 Corinthians 6:20; 7:23). Jesus has become your life, so when you see what your life has become, you then ask yourself what you did to gain all these things because you know that you didn’t do anything that warrants you inheriting all these things. Of course, you didn’t do anything; the only reason why you see all these things through inheritance is because you believe in Jesus, end of story.

Why should you believe in Jesus? The reason why you should believe in Jesus is because Galatians 2:20 says, those who are born again live by the faith OF Jesus. That means Jesus believes all that God gave Him, in other words, He accepted all that God gave Him. All the things that were said about Jesus in Philippians 2:8-11, and what Jesus told His disciples after His resurrection that all authorities in heaven and earth have been given unto Him (ref.: Matthew 28:18).

We are not to believe with our faith because our faith is filled with flaws, and thus is not stable. Instead, we are to believe in the faith of Jesus that is perfect and stable. And because He and not us received all that God gave to Him, and by faith we receive all that He received BY HIS FAITH. Thus, whatever Jesus believed that God gave to Him is what Jesus has, and Jesus believed all. And since we are now joint heirs with Jesus, we receive all Jesus received through His faith. You don’t have anything outside what Jesus believes.

Now, when God tells you that you are healed, technically speaking, it was not you God told, but Jesus. So, what is the faith of Jesus concerning that matter? If Jesus believes it, then believe Jesus because what He accepts is valid in your life. This was why Jesus told the Jews that the only work we are to do is to believe in the Lord Jesus, whom God our Father has sent.

If God asks us to do certain things, you cannot do these things if you don’t believe in Jesus. Allow me to elaborate. You cannot have a bounce of a ball without it being thrown, or something that caused it. Likewise, faith is seen through our actions. Belief comes first, and then our actions testify to what we believe. Thus, when God asks us to do a thing, we must first believe in Jesus concerning that thing, which then allows us to do that thing. If we do that thing out of hypocrisy, we stop in a very short time, because our belief in Jesus is the fuel to get whatever God asks us to do to be done. This is the answer to your questions as to why nothing seems to happen in your life because you didn’t do what God asked you to do. And this is due to unbelief.

Our study and meditation of the word of God is to know God and to know Jesus. To know what Jesus received after fulfilling all of the Law and the Prophets, as demonstrated in His death, burial and resurrection. This is because whatever Jesus has received is our inheritance of Grace through the faith of Jesus. So we must know Jesus’ take on whatever  God tells us, because whatever Jesus’ stand is, that becomes your stand, and if you believe that, then you receive it. If not, then nothing comes in. We only receive by the faith of Jesus.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t? Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations—you’re born again, and you are now brand new!
