Use Your Authority

In my last blog, I explained how GOD has shown us how He is our protector in every situation, even against the evil one. I then ended with a question which I intend to address today, which is, "why then do people who claimed to have accepted Jesus as LORD still get attacked by the devil?"

Now, first of all, we must understand that the devil makes attempts every time to attack us, but he doesn't have the power to succeed. Surprisingly, we give him the power to succeed in his attack over us. Sounds surprising right? Let me explain.

As I said earlier, to believe a thing is to place confidence in that thing, that is to believe that thing is what it says it is. "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit" [Proverbs 18:21]. Our words are very powerful, the question is what are you confessing?

Once Jesus and His disciples were attacked by a storm, a typical person would conclude saying he has been attacked by a storm. But what did Jesus do? He used the authority through His words which is and must be in line with GOD, which was, "peace be still. He took charge of the situation. We have to understand there is nothing too hard for GOD and He has given us His protection. What we are to do is to believe it completely and when something looks like an attempted attack from the devil, you show him who is boss through your words! And what is the word, the scriptures! As the Bible say, "Resist the devil and he will flee from you." [James 4:7].

To resist the devil doesn't mean you telling the devil, "I resist you". He would laugh and know that you don't understand your new position with Christ. To resist the devil implies you making use of armour of GOD, as well as the blood of the lamb and the words of your testimony; [ref. Ephesians 6:10-20; Revelations 12:11]. Remember this, if the devil can attack you, then he can attack Jesus! Why am I saying this? The power and authority we have is the reward given to Jesus for a job well done when He fulfilled His mission here on earth. It is this exact power He has bestowed on everyone, I repeat, everyone who believes! As simple as A,B,C. However, we who believe are to build ourselves in our most Holy faith, which is being transformed by the renewing of our minds everyday, allowing our new stand to be part and parcel of us; to become what think about, dream about and most importantly, do.

We are joint heirs with Christ and we must always remember that [ref. Romans 8:17]. The devil only attacks ignorant Believers, that is those who don't know how powerful they are, and as such when the devil displays, they easily think he is powerful, and he is not! Why? Jesus disarmed him of all powers! Remember that. All he does is just show off. I gave an example of the storm that Jesus faced. What else did Jesus mean when He told His disciples, "O you of little faith", other than the fact that they should look up to the One who is above the storm. True, they didn't have the Holy Spirit at that time, but Jesus was with them which would have been their confidence and not a person to cry to out of fear. How much more you whom GOD has given the ability of Christ.

To fully understand your authority, you need to study and meditate on the manual, which is the scriptures. The Bible says, "faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God" [Romans 10:17]. You need to properly study the word which would make you understand what the authority GOD has given you is. The Bible says, the Word of GOD is the sword of the Spirit; [ref. Ephesians 6:17].

So, whatever you face as a challenge, do not cry and say you have been attacked rather, use the authority which the armour of GOD, so that you can stand against the wiles of the devil. [Ref. Ephesians 6:10-20]. The armour in the real sense is the embodiment of Jesus and our faith in Him.

Life has been made very easy just by you studying and meditating on the Word with Christ as our focus, believing Him and putting Him to use, because He is our life. The more you focus on Him the more you live His life which is equally ours. The devil fears those who know their stand in Christ. Head knowledge of the word is one thing, practical use of the word is another. Faith without the work of faith is dead.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven't. Pray out loud, "Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive Salvation now. Thank You for saving me!" Congratulations, you're born again, you are now brand new!

Get The Truth Right! (Part 2)

Last time I talked about why people claim the devil attacks them, and the question was and still is, “do we really get attacked by the devil?” To continue from where I stopped I said the popular Psalms 23:1 says, “The LORD is my shepherd”; a good Shepherd according to Jesus, gives His life for the sheep and Jesus said He is the good Shepherd! [Ref. John 10:11]. In other words we could say, Jesus takes all the attacks on our behalf, which includes that of the devil!

Psalms 23:4 says, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” This is a very strong confidence of assurance placed on Jesus as our protector; so the question still stands, “do we really get attacked by the devil?”

Again, Psalms 91:1-3 says, “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.” Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence.” Psalms 91 as a whole and several scriptures have proven how God Almighty goes to the end to protect His children, and if you’re attacked, it implies something went wrong somewhere.

As humans, we hope a lot and one of these is protection; God on the other hand released His extravagant GRACE by providing us with everything we are ever going to need.  The acceptance of this GRACE is called Faith! You have to believe God is protecting you; we may not see the physical evidence of someone standing and fighting off the devil. But beyond our physical sight, God is protecting us, we just have to believe it because we have our evidence- Jesus.

This is how it is, God has given us what we need, all we have and need to do is believe by receiving His gift. His gift is Jesus who represents salvation. Now salvation doesn’t only include eternal life, it includes protection from the evil one and many other goodies, it a total package! The new question now is “why then do people who claimed to have accepted Jesus as LORD still get attacked?”

To answer this question, log on tomorrow.

Why not accept Jesus Christ today if you haven’t . Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my LORD and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive Salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!

Get The Truth Right! (Part 1)

There are times when strange and mysterious things happen to us and we conclude we’ve been attacked by the devil. But the question is do we really get attacked by the devil? If I recall correctly Jesus said in John 8:44 that there is no truth in the devil. As He continued, Jesus said, “when [the devil] speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.”

I ask you again, do we really get attacked by the devil? If I may recall again, Colossians 2:15 says, Jesus, “having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them triumphing over them in it.” Also Hebrews 2:14 says, “Inasmuch them the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their  life time subject to bondage.”

Now, if Christ disarmed the powers of the devil in every form, why do people say they were attacked by the devil! Well, if you’re a Believer and you say you’re were attacked by the devil, then you don’t know why you became a Christian, or you don’t understand the authority given to you. If you still insist that you were attacked, then what you’re saying is that we serve a weak God who cannot protect His children.

Why am I saying this, the popular Psalms 23:1 says, “The LORD is my shepherd”. A good Shepherd according to Jesus gives His life for the sheep, and Jesus claims to be the good Shepherd [ref. John 10:11]. Psalms 23:4 says, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” This is another way the LORD protects us from the attack of the devil.

To further establish this gospel truth, log on next time.

Focus Without Being Distracted

Have you noticed what happens when you beckon on someone but just as you beckon on the person, you immediately start talking with another person for a long time. The person you beckoned at first would feel you don't really need his help. But if you really need the person's help, you shut up any other distraction and then you focus on the person you beckoned and explain why he was called and you get the job done.

These scenarios also apply when you call Jesus. David said in Psalm 145:18-19, "The Lord is near to all upon Him, to all who call upon Him sincerely and in truth. He will fulfil the desires of those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him; He also will hear their cry and will save them." (Amplified version).

Now, this passage doesn't mean you have to start begging God, no you don't. To call upon God sincerely and in truth implies you really need God and more importantly it shows neither you nor another person can fix the problems you have.

As Apostle Paul said in Romans 10:9 which says, "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." And verse 13 says, "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved."

This action in Romans 10 is not a child's play, if you're in, you're in. You have to be serious, this is why the result of you calling Him is that, "He will fulfil the desires of those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him; He also will hear their cry and will save them."

The point here is that God has designed man to focus on only one thing, let me elaborate; as a human, you can see everything with your eyes, but you can only focus on one thing at a time; you can hear everything but you can only listen to one thing at a time and this applies to the other senses; it's just our focus.

If your focus is on Christ, it implies you've turned off every distraction and what happens when you do that is that, Christ would always be there when you need Him, you will hear Him clearly as He directs you and becomes the good Shepherd in Psalm 23, who is Jesus.

Why Should You Know Your Neighbours?

We live in a world where we struggle to ensure things are done the right way. Even with that, when given a task to be done, sometimes we take the task lightly, just because we don’t consider the person involved seriously, but when it’s a highly reputable person or someone who is wealthy, we tend to do the task quickly by putting our backs into it. But sometimes even with the fact that we get things done for the reputable person, we sometimes grumble. The Amplified version of Colossians 3:23 says, “whatever may be your task, work at it heartily (from the soul), as [something done] for the Lord and not for men.”

We are expected to do things with the heart that God is the one we are doing it for. As Believers, God has called us into the kingdom of Jesus Christ of whom we believe by faith. Jesus said before He went back to heaven, that we should go into all the world and preach the gospel to the ends of the earth, but how are we to do this in our daily lives?

Going by Colossians 3:23, whatever we are to do is to be done to the glory of God. Apostle Paul who wrote letter to the Colossians definitely must have related verse 3:23 to Matthew 25:31-46 where Jesus about Himself on the last day as a King where He said, “I was hungry and you gave Me food; thirsty and you gave Me drink; stranger and you took Me in; naked and you clothed Me; in prison and you came to Me.” The King in the parable said “Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me” (Matthew 25:40 NKJV).

Our attitude is to reflect Christ, no matter how annoying or painful the situation may be, we are sent here to set a new and good example as God has given us the Grace to live His lives which we live by faith. For the just shall live by faith and faith comes from the regular study of the Word of God which is the way we get transformed by the renewing of our minds, reminding us who our true nature is, which is the very nature of Christ.

Our attitude is what makes people want to know about Christ and then we fulfil the mandate given to us by Jesus which is the great commission. Remember, “whatever may be your task, work at it heartily (from the soul), as [something done] for the Lord and not for men.”

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you’re are now brand new!

With Due Respect

Really, there is nothing as difficult as being a leader, making decisions for a body. Everyone seems to wait for your decision before doing anything and what you decide has to favour who you lead positively. This is so with Spiritual leadership, and this is why we Believers are to give respect to our Spiritual leaders. Respect and NOT worship your leaders; respect, because of all they have to go through in maintaining orderliness.

Apostle Paul said in 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13, that we especially Believers are to hold our leaders who are over us in the Lord in very high and most affectionate esteem in appreciation of their work. This is true because, first of all God prevents us from going astray through our Spiritual leaders. They warn and kindly reprove you and exhort you, all in ensuring you grow in strength with grace in the Lord Jesus.

But as Romans 10:17 which says, “So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself). (AMP). Now as Romans 10:14-15 in the Amplified version, which says “But how are people to call upon Him Whom they have not believed [in Whom they have no faith, on Whom they have no reliance]? And how are they to believe in Him [adhere to, trust in, and rely upon Him] of Whom thy have never heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher? And how can men [be expected to] preach unless they are sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of those who bring glad tidings! [How welcome is the coming of those who preach the good news of His good things!]

In other words God has to send our leaders to us, our leaders have to listen attentively to carry the right message of faith to us, and when this message is disseminated we hear the Word and believe by faith which channels our heart more to Jesus. So you see our leaders need to hear the right message from God, or else they could lead the church astray.

Not only are we to give our spiritual leaders respect, we are to pray for them because if they don’t hear the right thing, we then believe the wrong thing and we move far away from the faith and the truth. They are humans like we are; we are to pray their flesh doesn’t take control of their decisions. Why not pray for your leaders today and see God move through them and through you Spiritually.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!

Don't Be Caught Unaware

The scriptures says Jesus will come like a thief in the night just as sudden labour pains upon a woman. This expression doesn’t imply Jesus coming at night, it just implies Jesus coming unannounced, just the way the thief and the labour pain come unannounced too. This sounds like a warning to all of us, but are we expected to be surprised at the sudden appearance of Jesus’ coming?

Every day we wake up to fine things going on steadily and in a comfortable manner, that we plan, we even say things like, “see you tomorrow” or “I’ll buy that next week”, all these and more without even considering the truth that our plans for the future might be stopped with the sudden return of Jesus. Don’t get me wrong, having goals isn’t bad at all, but when goals are set we shouldn’t be negligent of the fact that that day might be the last before His coming.

Apostle Paul said the coming of the Lord to us shouldn’t come as a surprise to us, just as he put in 1 Thessalonians 5:4 which says, “But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.” Paul was referring to believers here saying those who are unsaved are easily carried away by their selfish ambition and goals, and do not bother if the present day could be their last or not.

Apostle Paul said being a Believer, we are to live as Sons of light and Sons of the day, therefore, we are not to sleep as others do, but we are to watch and be sober, calm, collected, being ready at any time. It takes faith to do this, so we are to put on the breastplate of faith and love, and helmet of salvation. This is why we are expected not to forget the great commission which is to go into all the world and preach the gospel.

We shouldn’t be carried away by where we work and how much money is given to us, we have been sent for a purpose, so no matter where you are, whether at work, school, home, wherever, the great commission must be achieved, then we should stay alert and also get others saved and at the end of the day we get a powerful “well done, good and faithful servant”.

I challenge you today to refocus your reason for being sent where you are, which is to get the unsaved saved, because “whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16b NKJV). Not perishing is one thing, having eternal life is another which is the major factor, which is to have a solid relationship with the Father through the Son, Jesus Christ. This is important so those who are unsaved shouldn’t be caught unaware.

Where Do You Place Your Decisions?

Are you that person who is not stable in their thoughts; today a decision is made, tomorrow another and so on. You seem not to be stable in the way you handle things. Jesus explained to us that if we listen to His words and do them, we would be likened to the man who built his house on the rock. No matter the situation and circumstance that was faced, it didn't affect the house because it was founded on the rock. On the other hand, the man who hears the word but doesn't put it to practice is likened to the foolish man who built house on the sand; every situation and circumstances faced affected the house which eventually collapsed.

The house represents your life and Jesus is explaining to us that His sayings serve as a solid foundation for our lives and every decisions made which brings wisdom and victory even on the last day. Why don't you trust Jesus today by meditating on His words today and putting His Words to use and see our lives become victorious in every way because He Himself is Victory personified.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven't. Pray out loud, "Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me."

Be The Light

Have you ever encountered an issue or a problem which could related to health, finance, security and so on; and you kept on battling with it? You read books on how to tackle the problem, observed how others tackled it; true you seem to be tackling the problem, but the problem didn't disappear. The question is why does this keep happening? I'll tell you why. The obvious answer is that we seem not to have a permanent solution to our problems. In other words we could be likened to people kept in a very large dark room, where the solution is but can't find it. The first thing that comes to your mind is to get light!

Jesus said in John 8:12, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." NKJV. In other words Jesus said He is the solution to the world's problems which includes yours. But because we were born to meet darkness, we have grown to think darkness is the way of life, we have decided to accept our health challenge, our financial challenge, our security challenge and other challenges. So when someone brings something different which you can't find in any theory, but solves your problems, you quickly push it out. But has your situation gotten any better?

Why not throw away your ego and look unto Jesus whom you assumed is wasting His time; and get your problems solved. To show us how generous He is, He has made provision for anyone who wants to be a light bearer just like Himself; this you would get only by believing Him.

For He Himself said, "You're here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We're going public with this, public as a city on a hill. If I make you light -bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a light stand: Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand-shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to open up with God, the generous Father in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16 Message.

So, as you meet Jesus who would give you the solution, you shouldn't be selfish, share it with others and as you do so, you become a light-bearer, showing others the way out of their problems; and the praises go to the original bringer of light, Jesus.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven't. Pray out loud, "Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank you for saving me!"

The Executive, Legislature and Judiciary

In a typical democracy, there are three arms of government, the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary. The Executive arm of government is responsible for implementing and administering the public policy enacted and funded by the legislative branch. The Legislative branch of government is responsible for enacting the laws of the state and appropriating the money necessary to operate the government. While the Judicial branch is responsible for interpreting the constitution and laws applying their interpretations to controversies brought before them.

When I looked at these three arms government, I marvelled because this system was copied and I believed it was a great inspiration from God Himself; this is also because this is the system of the Trinity in other words this is how God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit operate! I’m sure you’re like ‘huh?’ but it is. Now let’s take a look; God the Father is the Executive, God the Son is the Legislator, while the Holy Spirit is the Judiciary.

Let’s take a look at the Genesis of the book of Genesis, when God said “let there be light” in Genesis 1:3, it was with faith just as Hebrews 11:3 says, “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” To say you declare a thing through faith implies it is seen as having existed even before they exist. In other words it is clear to say God created the universe in accordance with the principles of faith itself, thus falling in line with the roll of the Executive who is responsible for implementing and administering the public policy enacted by the legislative branch.

The executive role played by God the Father is also in line with John 1:3, which says, “All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” This shows God the Son acting the Legislative role of whom nothing happens without going through Him; just the way we understand nothing is enacted in a country without going through the Legislature.

Philippians 2:9-11 explains how God the Son is the Legislator, as seen in verse 9 which says, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name.” God raised the position of God the Son above Him, even though it is still Him but in another person. This shows God the Father respects order.

For God the Holy Spirit, let’s look at John 14:16 in the Amplified version which says, “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Healer, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever.” The Holy Spirit who stands as the Judiciary interprets what legislator has put down as law.

Now, we know that for us the word of God (Bible) is what the Legislator has put down for us; it is the Holy Spirit who interprets the scriptures to us; this is why the Holy Spirit doesn’t just tell us things we haven’t at one point or the other studied. So, it is important for us to meditate on the scriptures in order for the Holy Spirit to explain what we’ve studied.

So, whatever God the Father does, He ensures it is in line with the principle laid down by God the Son and the interpretation of God the Holy Spirit; this is why in Genesis 1:26 God said “Let Us [Father, Son and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness...” AMP. So when God says He has blessed us with all Spiritual blessings [ref. Ephesians 1:3], just know that it a collective effort of the Trinity, and no power or authority can stand against that the declaration made.

However, the Executive, Legislator and the Judiciary are embodied in one being who acts as three persons. This is the Gospel Truth.

Life Requires Diligence And Discipline NOT Struggle

Success is an important thing everyone in life would love to achieve, but many believe in achieving success, it requires struggle. Although, people add diligence and discipline which is good, but how is it possible to be so successful without a part of struggle? There is a lot of burning of candle, sleepless night and other related things, but the point here is that it is wrongly channelled. So let’s see how to achieve true diligence and discipline without struggle.

Solomon the wisest man said in the book of Proverbs 4:7-9 which says, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote you; she will place on your head an ornament of grace; a crown of glory she will deliver to you”; and in verses 11 and 12 it says, “I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths. When you walk, your steps will not stumble” NKJV. Wisdom is an important aspect in achieving success, Solomon tells us to incline our ears to wisdom by searching for it as one seek for silver and search for hidden treasure. But with all these, Solomon told us where to get wisdom, he said the LORD gives wisdom and from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding.

People struggle using their own mind, knowledge and degrees to achieve success, but success comes from wisdom. It is in the achievement of wisdom we are to have sleepless night for, burn candles for, why? This is because when we gain wisdom, everything we intend to do becomes a work over and not struggle. To achieve wisdom it requires discipline and diligence, this is the area we are to put all our effort, because wisdom is the key to success. But where does wisdom come from? From God!

1 Corinthians 1:24 says Jesus is the wisdom of God; so once Jesus is in your heart, it implies you have wisdom beyond human knowledge. And remember, the wisdom comes with Grace; you receive deep insights which makes you wise. An example of someone who was filled with the wisdom of God is Jesus with reference to when He was here on earth; have you ever wondered why He couldn’t get any question wrong? The answer is simple; Jesus didn’t rely on His human understanding, but on God’s understanding.

Jesus was uneducated formerly, that is He didn’t go to a formal school, yet He knew beyond any man [ref. John 7:15]. The truth is that the wisdom of God is God’s wisdom and not your wisdom; therefore since God is all-knowing then and no one knows more than He does, once you have His wisdom you have more understanding than your teachers. What you just need to do is to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.

You have to be discipline and diligent when it comes to searching wisdom. Apostle James said, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5 NKJV; he went ahead saying, “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. James 1:6-8 NKJV. When you ask for wisdom from God, you have to believe that God is the giver of wisdom and believe that you have received it, and see wisdom in action.

Always depend on God when faced with a difficult situation. When I face any difficult situation, I always say, ‘Holy Spirit give me the wisdom to know what to do’, and before I know it a great idea come my way which is just perfect for the situation. Don’t be scared that you are not qualified for certain responsibilities given to you, just push all your worries to God and ask Him for wisdom to know what to do, this is what God regards as humility; and because you have depended on God, He would exalt you by giving you a way out of every situation that troubles you; it takes discipline and diligence NOT struggle [1 Peter 5:6-7]. To struggle is to do things without the help of God, and also mixing your wisdom and God’s wisdom, it doesn’t work that way, it has to be completely God’s wisdom.

With God, there are no struggles because with the wisdom of God, He reveals the path we are to take, all we need to do is just to follow the path but most of all is to meditate and receive constant flow of God’s wisdom. This is the Gospel Truth.

The Bandwagon Effect

Yesterday, I explained how Jesus had lived our lives ahead of us; He lived our lives and came out victorious. So what we are doing is just repeating every move Jesus made which made Him victorious, which of course makes us victorious through Grace because the real battle we would face had been won already by Jesus. We are therefore to meditate on the scriptures and listen to the Holy Spirit for direction leading us on the path Jesus took which we are to take. This is living by faith.

Today, I’ll explain how humans live their lives in what I call a ‘bandwagon effect’. According to Investopedia, the bandwagon effect “is a psychological phenomenon in which people do something primarily because other people are doing it, regardless of their own beliefs, which they may ignore or override.” I explained in an earlier blog that humans do things which are general because they feel it is a norm on how to live. But based on what I explained yesterday, everybody has a particular path of life God has designed for us which Jesus lived on our behalf so that when we live the life it would be smooth for us.

Have you ever thought of the fact that Jesus never made a mistake? This is because Jesus followed every step of His Father’s direction, not His own direction [John 14:10]. This is how we are supposed to live our lives really and become successful at everything in life; this is what eternal life really is.

Eternal life doesn’t mean living forever, because whether one goes to heaven or hell, the person lives forever. What exactly is eternal life? Jesus Himself gave the answer in John 17:3, as properly elaborated in the Amplified translation, it says, “And this is eternal life: [it means] to know (to perceive, recognize, become acquainted with, and understand) You, the only true and real God and [likewise] to know Him, Jesus [as the] Christ (the Anointed One, the Messiah), Whom You have sent.” This is what eternal life really is, becoming fused with God in Spirit, knowing God in-depth, in another sense becoming God, that is having His Spirit; and this can only happen when you accept Jesus as the Lord of your life; your old Spirit is then taken away and the Spirit of Jesus becomes your new Spirit [ref. 2 Corinthians 5:17].

The term “know” as used in John 17:3 is the same original meaning of the “knew” used in Genesis 4:1, when Adam knew his wife, not sexual intercourse, but having a covenant as becoming one in-depth (this is why one shouldn’t just have sex outside God’s approval which is in Holy Matrimony because to have sex is to have a covenant with your partner).

We are not animals or robots; that is why God gave us a unique life different from another person. By faith we believe Jesus lived our lives ahead of us as He destroyed the sin of the world on the cross and came out victorious when He resurrected and God gave Him all authority in heaven, earth and under the earth, which is the authority we get to share. Now anything that is not in line with who Jesus is right now is regarded as sin, e.g. sickness, diseases, poverty, spiritual battles even physical battles etc. Jesus destroyed everything at the cross.

So when you see any battle in real life, don’t fear, instead remember, the very battle you see infront of you was won by Jesus Himself. So, make sure you listen to the Holy Spirit to direct you on how Jesus won the battle; don’t live a ‘bandwagon effect’ kind of life, instead live your own life which is the life God has designed for you. DON’T ASSUME YOU KNOW, ASK HIM THROUGH PRAYER AND EXPECT AN ANSWER. This is the gospel truth.

Taken Back In Time To Determine Your Future

I looked at the human life generally in terms of how goals are achieved. I discovered once a person focuses on his goal as having it as his, with time what is focused on manifests in real life. This principle applies to every man irrespective of being a believer or not, it is something God gave to man right from when he said man should dominate the earth [ref. Genesis 1:28].

Now, my point here is to question the fact of a man bringing his goals into manifestation just by believing he has it through the power of focus. The point here is, isn’t this faith and didn’t Jesus say in Mark 11:23-24, “ ...whoever says... and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says... ...whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” NKJV. So, if the ordinary man can achieve this, then what is so special about faith? This is how most Believers live. If this is so which is, then it implies Believers haven’t gotten the true meaning of faith.

According to the Amplified translation, Hebrews 11:1 says “NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real what is not revealed to the senses]. There are key terms stated here: CONFIRMATION/TITLE DEED; HOPE and PROOF/CONVICTION. A proper understanding of what these terms mean would enable us to understand what faith really is.

Jesus told His disciples to have faith in God [ref. Mark 11:22]; faith in another sense could be seen as a reaction to what someone has done, and not what we have done; allow me to elaborate. As humans we all have things we need, which could be referred to as hope. The CONFIRMATION/ TITLE DEED as put in Hebrews 11:1 implies that someone has paid for something which you didn’t do, and this is where Grace comes in. Grace as we know is an unmerited favour, thus receiving things we don’t deserve. This affects the HOPE; now hope are the things we need which God knows we need.

Ephesians 3:20 says Christ is able to do beyond our imagination; this is an act of Grace which is CONFIRMATION/TITLE DEED which was done by someone and not us. Now the PROOF/CONVICTION implies that what we intend to get has already been done ahead of time.

Flow with me, Jesus while on earth had told His disciple that though there may be trials and temptation, they are to be of good cheer because He has overcome the world [ref. John 16:33]. This implies he has gone ahead of us to fight the battle we would face but would come out victorious because He came out victorious [ref. Philippians 2:9-11; Ephesians 1:21]. Jesus won every battle we would ever fight; this is why we fight from victory and not for victory.

The truth here is that Believers are to live their lives as actors in a movie Jesus lived; we are just to act the script of how Jesus overcame the world; now “the world” here is personified as the life we face individually.

So what we are doing is like going back in time to determine our future; now this is faith, as the scriptures says in Zechariah 4:6, “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the LORD of hosts.”  We are to live by the Spirit and not by our might, effort or knowledge. Remember, we were bought with a price; as we gave our lives to Christ we died and a new life came in which is the exact Spirit of Jesus. So, it is the life of Jesus we are to live and not our life, really because we don’t exist anymore!

So, unlike the normal human who focuses on what he wants and as a result of his focus gets what he wants, Believers on the other focus and live the life Jesus had already lived which is always a life of good success and prosperity.

Now the script to this remarkable successful life are the scriptures and the director is the Holy Spirit, telling us each move Jesus made which we are to make. With this we would not live a life of assumptions but a life of conviction because we have the script with us; remember, it is not about you but Him; just believe that He exists and has fought your battle ahead of you; He is a lamp to our feet and a light unto our path [ref. Psalm 119:105]. This is the Gospel Truth.

The House On The Rock

When Jesus gave His three days sermon on the mount, He talked about the importance of putting His words into action. He likened it to two men who built their houses; the one who heard the words of Jesus and put them into action is likened to a wise man who built his house on the rock. On the other hand, the one who heard the words of Jesus and didn’t put them into action is likened to a foolish man who built his house on the sand. Both men faced the same challenges, but the result was different just because their foundation differed.

Let’s take a look at what the message version says in Matthew 7:24-27:

“These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit- but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock.
But if you just use my words in Bible studies and don’t work them into your life, you are like a stupid carpenter who built his house on the sandy beach. When a storm rolled in the waves came up, it collapsed like a house of cards”

Note this, both men faced the same challenges; they built the same house, they faced the same storm in their life, but they ended up with different results. If you ask a Civil Engineer, the most important part in laying a structure, the answer would definitely be the foundation. The foundation is the part that we don’t see but it’s what determines the lifespan of whatever is put above it. Our foundation is what determines the kind of life we would have, whether positive or negative.

Now Jesus didn’t say we shouldn’t go to school or bag degrees, what He meant is that your degrees and things you intend to build or have built is determined by the foundation we lay. So what is this foundation? As we know the foundation is Jesus; in another sense it is the act of obedience on the words of Jesus.

The words of Jesus affect every aspect of our lives; the words serve as a lamp and light to us; it could also serve as a blue print of how to live [ref. Psalms 119:105]. As Hebrews 12:4 says, “For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.” AMP.

This is too deep, there is no power or force that supersedes that of Christ, therefore placing Christ as your foundation would imply placing your house on the rock where whatever you intend to build becomes a success. Jesus knows the end from the beginning, He should be our foundation.

Decide today and enjoy your life; it’s not by power nor by might but by the spirit which determines your foundation which in turn determines your success. This is the gospel truth.

David and Goliath

You most likely would have read about the story of David and Goliath or maybe heard of it. You find an inexperienced 17 year old who challenged a giant, who has been fighting from his youth and a champion. The very funny thing is that they both were representatives of their land and had no choice but to win or else the loser becomes slaves to the winner. So, how would an inexperienced youth out rightly defeat a champion who is a giant and has been fighting from his youth? I’m sure what you’re saying right now is, “yeah, yeah, I know the whole story, my Pastor preached this several times”. But my point here is to properly understand what David did and how we could tap from his wisdom.

As we all know David the 17 year old boy defeated the giant with a piece of stone which he slung at Goliath the giant’s forehead. But how many of us know that it wasn’t David who actually killed Goliath directly? Yeah, you must have heard that several times. David was anointed King over Israel; to be anointed allows the Holy Spirit to come upon the one anointed.

David understood the might of God in the universe and also understood what being circumcised meant. To be circumcised implies being set aside as God’s own, therefore no one gets to you without first going through God, so God gave His own total protection against the wicked one. David understood this, but the armies of Israel didn’t properly understand this, because if they did, they would have conquered the Philistines, believing God would fight their battles for them, but they didn’t believe thus making them raise their challenges above the mighty and powerful God.

We must remember who owns us, unlike the era of David where the Spirit could come and leave, but for Believers under this new covenant, after accepting Jesus as Lord and Saviour, the Holy comes to live with and in us permanently not just with us alone as it was in the old covenant. With this in mind you must understand that, “you have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. Those people belong to this world, so they speak from the world’s viewpoint, and the world listens to them. But we belong to God, and those who know God listen to us. If they do not belong to God, they do not listen to us. That is how we know if someone has the Spirit of truth or the deception.” (1 John 4:4-6 NLT).

David understood that he belonged to God because of the covenant of circumcision, as he referred to the Goliath saying, “For who s this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God” (1 Samuel 17:26b NKJV). The understanding that God was the one fighting for Israel was what David stood on; he told Goliath, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defiled” (1 Samuel 17:45 NKJV). He knew it was not by physical power or by might but by the Spirit.

David’s actions were full of faith and this is how we are to live. As Believers, having the fullness of Christ, we must understand that as God is for us, no one can come against us; God has said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay” (Hebrews 10:30; Deuteronomy 32:35 NKJV); so it is not our battle but the Lord’s. Proverbs 21:31 says, “The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but deliverance is of the LORD.” (NKJV).

We are to stand still and know that God is God and He is what He says He is; there is no power in the entire universe that can stand the power of the Monarch of the universe whom we serve. We need to remind ourselves every day. If your problems seems so large to you, place it beside God and know how infinitesimal it is beside Him; trust and have faith in God as David did and see your problems crumble before your eyes, “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” (Numbers 23:19 NKJV); THIS IS THE GOSPEL TRUTH.

Law and Grace (Part 2)

Last time I explained how the law and Grace could be similar but yet different; this similarity has confused people and even Believers over the years to think the era of the law was just a time without Jesus, while the era of Grace is an era with Jesus; in other words, for most people the only difference between the era of the law and Grace is just the presence of Jesus alone. To them, nothing else changed, but a lot has changed because there was a close of an era and the opening the opening of a brand new era which is very different from the old even though there could be similarities but how you live one differs completely from the other. As it is put in Hebrews 8:13 which says, “By calling this covenant “new”, he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and ageing will soon disappear.”. (NIV).

Now because Jesus met all the recommendations of a perfect man, God raised Him up above every name that exist and would ever exist, having all authority in heaven, earth and under the earth [ref. Philippians 2:9-11; Ephesians 1:21; Acts 2:33]. This was what Jesus got as a man, so anyone who wants to live like Jesus should drop their old Spirit and take up the Spirit of Jesus by accepting Him as their Lord and Saviour [ref. Romans 8:9; 2 Corinthians 5:17]. Spiritually when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour we immediately get ‘a tag’ named ‘Jesus’; with this, when God sees us, He sees Jesus and not us; this brings me to the meaning of Grace [ref. 1 Corinthians 6:20; 7:23; Galatians 3:13-14; 1 Peter 1:18-21].

The law was given when man was in bondage, but now Jesus has direct control and command of the entire universe which supersedes the law [ref. Romans 7:6; 2 Corinthians 3:6] Since we have accepted Him, we have now become joint heirs with Him having the same control and command of the entire universe, this is Grace! [ref. Romans 8:17]. We didn’t work for it; we just believed Jesus and made Him Lord of our lives [ref. Romans 4:1-5].

Now, through the law you were assumed righteous but not righteous and through your effort; while through Grace you are made righteous by believing [ref. Hebrews 9:13; 10:1-4]. Our Spirit was saved, not our soul and body, so we need to connect our soul to the Spirit which in turn controls the body. This is done by studying the manual, and what is the manual? The bible! The bible explains who we really are and the control we have in the universe; so as we read and study the scriptures, the Holy Spirit helps us interpret it which enables us to live it [ref. Romans 12:1-2]. So, grace understands it is not in a day that we live the life of the Spirit since the other life has a Spiritual force that tries to take us back. So it is how much time we dedicate to our new Spirit that makes us get to perfection on time.

We are not living the life of sin anymore even though we falter a times, we now live the Spirit life; we are like a child who is learning how to walk. The child’s intention is to walk and not fall; even though he fall a couple of times it was his body not getting used to the walking and not him not walking. This is different from the law, we didn’t have the ability to walk, but the law forced us to do what we didn’t have the ability of doing.

To further buttress my point, the first covenant having the law has been superseded by the power and authority of Jesus through Grace, so when we get the perfect Spirit, we don’t go to the former which has been superseded, instead we go to the present and eternal which is Grace who is Jesus. Grace is given to us as we believe through faith.

So, faith is living the supernatural life as a regular life and not forcing ourselves to achieve it. It’s in you, this is achievable because of the everlasting love Jesus has towards us; this is the gospel truth.

Law and Grace (Part 1)

Before Jesus’ resurrection, the Israelites were living in the dispensation of the law while the rest of the world just had their own way of living. But Jesus came and moved the entire world, that includes the Israelites, to a brand new world of Grace, this implies what was practiced was abolished and thus became irrelevant. However, even with this new dispensation of Grace you would find those who claim they are in Grace still living in the dispensation of the law; this is because they can’t differentiate between law and Grace. So, it seems to most people that the law is very much the same as Grace, what makes the difference is just the coming of Jesus. Even those who have no business with the law practice this law, this is confusing. What exactly is the difference between the law and Grace?

First of all, the law was given to the children of Israel ALONE and not the whole world, so if you are not from Israel, you have no business with the law. The advent of Jesus’ resurrection was to bring Grace to the world which we don’t deserve, but people don’t still know the difference between law and Grace.

The first covenant given to the children of Israel involved keeping the law; God found fault with the first covenant, so this brought about the second or new covenant which has to do with God’s Grace. Those who follow the law follow certain rules and regulations. The law was a high standard of God set before the children of Israel to follow. But the very moment they got the law, three thousand men died for disobeying the law [ref. Exodus 32:28]. It was quite clear that the standard of the law was too high for the children of Israel and man as a whole, why? It is because the life man had then, was the condemned life attained from Adam when he disobeyed God by eating the forbidden fruit.

Man didn’t have the Spirit of God in Him so it was so impossible to attain God’s standards; this was a clear sign that man needed another means to get to God or else death was inevitable. Jesus was the only man who had the Spirit of God, so He represented man because He was perfect before God and through Him we were redeemed for He was the sacrifice we needed to get back to God; so because of His perfect Spirit He could not see corruption when He died; God raised Him from the dead and through Him we were redeemed back to God through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Now, the difference between law and Grace is that law forces us to mature immediately, while Grace nurtures us on the path to perfection.

Live In The Spirit (Part 2)

Last time I talked about how we are to live in the spirit by understanding that it is the spiritual realm that controls the physical realm. I also explained how Believers have the exact spirit of Jesus of which we are to operate from the realm of this spirit because this spirit of Jesus has all authority in heaven, earth and under the earth. The question I posed was, how do we live in the spirit? Let’s find out.

I talked about how Daniel got answers from God by looking unto the mercies of God; as I said, Daniel didn’t have the fullness of the Holy Spirit in him, so let’s look at the first one who had the fullness of God in Him, Jesus. For Jesus, “...having risen a long while before daylight. He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.” (Mark 1:35 NKJV). If you check several places in the gospels you would find Jesus always went to solitary places to pray. The prayer here was deep meditation with His Father in heaven; He already had the Holy Spirit in Him so He meditated on who He was and His mandate on earth, so that was why He needed a place that was quiet. Quiet time is a very important part to in order to commune in the Spirit; it helps you focus on the scriptures without any physical distractions.

Another is fasting; fasting kills physical form distraction and allows you to focus when meditating on the scriptures and become the scriptures; you become the truth in the scriptures because in order to doubt the scriptures you need physical strength, but when the physical strength is taken away, you only have the spiritual to focus on. Jesus when answering the Pharisees about why His disciples didn’t fast, He said, “Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.” (Matthew 9:15 NKJV). Now that the bridegroom has gone and His Spirit is now in us, we need to get in contact with the Holy Spirit and allow Him work through us.

Another powerful way we can live in the Spirit is through speaking in tongues; this is the ability God has put on every Believers mouth that possesses the Holy Spirit in Him; this ability is the speaking of mysteries, mysteries that only the Holy Spirit understands; in order words, it is a spiritual language where we declare who we are in Christ in the Spirit. The mystery is so deep that it can’t be understood by man except through the gift of interpretation. When we pray, we pray with our understanding, but when we back it up with tongues the Holy Spirit takes over and speak the exact words to God. The bible says in Romans 8:26-27, “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the heart knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” (NKJV).

Praise is a very powerful way of getting into the Spirit realm; praise itself is Spiritual because your focus is on God and when you keep doing that, your faith is strengthened and you live in the realm of the Spirit. Praise is a form of meditation just the way speaking in tongues is. Fasting enhances our focus and as I said, it’s not a magic wand. All these mentioned enable us to see the Jesus’ Spiritual realm as the real life and not the physical world we live in.

The reason why we need to live in the Spirit is because the physical realm is controlled by spiritual forces. Once you get a hold of living the life of the Holy Spirit you have control of the heaven, earth and under the earth. This is the reason why when sickness attacks, you command it to leave your physical body and it does, this is because you’ve come to understand the physical world is not real only what the Spiritual world says is real. So we define the physical world by making it align with what we believe which is the Spiritual world of Jesus.

As we live in the Spirit, certain qualities emerge which are the fruit of the Spirit which is love, joy, peace, longsuffering or patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control [ref. Galatians 5:22-23]. So, if we live in the Spirit, we are to walk in the Spirit [ref. Galatians 5:25]. This is the quality of one who lives in the Spirit, and whatever you do prospers [ref. Psalms 1:3].

The scriptures which are meditated upon are inspiration from God, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Focusing on the Scriptures is to live the life of Jesus since we are joint heirs with Him, so living in the Spirit is to live the exact life of Jesus who has total dominion in the universe. The Scriptures purify us just as it says, “...profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. Also it makes us transformed by the renewal of our mind.

The summary of all these is that we have been given a new life but we don’t know how to use this life; praising God, fasting, speaking in tongues all help us in our meditation on who we are which the Scriptures reveal to us; this cannot be understood with the ordinary mind but with the Spirit of God [ref. 1 Corinthians 2:6-16]. With this, we then have the mind of Christ; as a result of this all things become ours because we are of Christ [ref. 1 Corinthians 3:21-23].

Live In The Spirit (Part 1)

You wake up, get dressed and move out, live life, eat, exercise and do many other things, but do you know that your body is not the real you? It is just the physical manifestation of you. The real you is a spirit; man is a spirit living in an earth suit that we call body.

To elaborate, let me use this illustration: Mr. X drives a green Mercedes, when he drives across the road you would say, “Mr. X drove across the road”, even though you saw the green Mercedes. Anything that happens to the Mercedes is as a result of the one who drives the Mercedes and not the car doing things by itself. This also applies to man, it is his spirit in him that controls his body; just the way the man in the car determines whatever happens to the car, the same thing applies to the man, whatever happens to man is determined by his spirit. So, why do we focus on the physical things rather than live in the spirit which controls and determines the physical manifestation. Why don’t we live in the spirit, then we would utilise the full potential of our being.

The physical body we possess cannot do anything without the spiritual nature; the spirit is so vast that the physical body is just a trickle of the ability of the spirit. So, when we live in the spirit and understand the fullness of the spirit, we control the physical realm anyhow we want.

Believers are the most privileged, this is because our spirit is the exact spirit of Jesus which is the exact spirit of God; and remember, the spirit Jesus possess is the same spirit God gave all power and authority in heaven, on earth and under the earth to. All power at its climax is in this spirit, but why do we live as one who doesn’t know this?

We must live in the spirit of Jesus which every Believer possesses before we see the miraculous become as easy as the air we breathe. Let’s take a look at Daniel; now remember Daniel had the Holy Spirit with him and not in him because it was until the day of Pentecost before the fullness of the Holy Spirit came and dwelt in every Believer because of the resurrection of Jesus. My emphasis here is to explain that Daniel not having the fullness of the Holy Spirit had great wonders performed through him by the Holy Spirit which is a slap on our face as we have the fullness of the Holy Spirit in us and we are not portraying the tremendous ability given to us just because we are not living in the spirit. What did Daniel do?

In the book of Daniel, king Nebuchadnezzar had a dream that bothered him so much, he forgot the dream and to remember the dream called for wise men, astrologers, sorcerers to tell him his dream and then interpret it. The wise men told the king that it was impossible for any man to tell a dream that he didn’t dream without being told. But there was something striking at what they said, “It is a difficult thing that the king requests, and there is no other who can tell it to king except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.” (Daniel 2:11 NKJV).

Even though their gods were inferior, it wasn’t a lie that mysteries were only understood by gods but we who serve the Almighty God who surpasses all other gods are more privileged. The only way to get the mysteries is for us to leave this physical realm and live in the spirit. Daniel had to seek the mercies of God concerning this secret; he left this realm in order to receive what was beyond the physical; he not only got the dream, he also got the interpretation.

Believers are to live in the spirit which is the unlimited world before they could achieve total control of the power and authority Jesus has given us. How can we actually live in the spirit? Watch out for the next blog.

Make Use Of Every Opportunity

There are several parables Jesus gave while He was here on earth, but there is one I believe He gave that cut across everyone and that is the parable of the sower. This parable is important because it explains to us that our life is shaped by what we do with the words we hear, in this case it is the word of God. This parable can be found in three of the four gospels, which are; Matthew, Mark and Luke. However, there is something about this parable that is so important; which is the interpretation of the parable. Each of the accounts recorded in the gospel doesn’t have the complete interpretation, but when put together, it becomes complete, let’s take a look.

According to Jesus’ parable, a sower sowed seeds, and as he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side which birds came down to devour, (these are people who hear the word but do not understand it and the birds which represents the wicked one comes and snatches the word away); some seeds fell by stony places which sprang up immediately but as the sun came, it scorched it because they had no depth in the soil (these are those who hear the word, receive it with joy but the word doesn’t have real depth in them so when tribulation and persecution comes, the word fades away after a short time); again, some seeds fell among thorns, and sprang up with the thorns but was later choked by the it (these are those who hear the word but the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word and becomes unfruitful). Finally, some seeds fell among good soil and yielded a crop some a hundredfold, some thirty fold and some sixty fold; the interpretation to this is broken it three parts and this is what I would explain.

When interpreting the meaning of the seeds that fell on the good, the Matthew account says, “But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” Matthew 13:23 (NKJV); the Mark account says, “But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.” Mark 4:20 (NKJV); the Luke account says, “But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.” Luke 8:15 (NKJV); note the underlined words.

Matthew says: hears the word and understands it and produce a crop; Mark says: hears the word, accept it, and produce a crop; Luke says hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop. After combining the gospels, it was then clear, what Jesus made us understand was that for us to put the WORD to use by producing fruits the following are important; first of all we are to HEAR the WORD then UNDERSTAND the WORD; then ACCEPT the WORD; then RETAIN/KEEP the WORD and finally; with PERSEVERANCE/PATIENCE, PRODUCE A CROP.

As Christians, we should act like the Bereans who always searched the scriptures [ref. Acts 17:10-12]. The Devil comes to kill, steal and destroy [ref. John 10:10]; so what does the Devil really steal? The Word! You see, “...faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” Romans 10:17 (NKJV); and this is what the devil hates to see so he does everything for us not to hear the word.

We have to be careful because the devil comes like roaring lion seeking whom he may devour; we need to be humble before God because we get strengthened by God and when the word comes we have faith. Faith requires diligence, and having faith we are to add virtue to it, and to virtue we are to add knowledge, and to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. Apostle Peter said those who lack these are shortsighted, even to the point of blindness, making them persons who have forgotten that they we cleansed from their old sins. He further advises us to be diligent in our faith.

So, the major point here is that we are to hear the word, understand it, accept it, retain it and by perseverance we would produce a crop. All these should be mixed with faith, putting up the whole armour of God [ref. 1 Peter 5:5-9; 2 Peter 1:5-10; Ephesians 6:10-20]. You must alert when we hear the word and possess it as a priced treasure, because the devil intends to steal, and remember, he doesn’t love at all; but God on the other hand loves us till eternity; this is the gospel truth.

Really, What Is The Essence Of Praying And Fasting?

There are times we really need things to be done that we go spiritual by praying and fasting. There is a miracle in the bible where the disciples of Jesus tried to heal a boy possessed with a spirit of epilepsy but didn’t succeed; Jesus eventually came and rebuked the spirit from the boy. Later the disciples came and asked Him why they couldn’t cast out the spirit. Jesus’ reply was that that kind of evil spirit could leave is only through fasting and praying [ref. Matthew 17:14-27; Mark 9:14-29; Luke 9:37-42]. But really, what is the essence of praying and fasting? I’m sure this question sounds funny to you, but let’s find out even if you already know.

Praying and fasting are two important qualities in a Believer’s life; not only in a Believer’s life but in every life; this is because praying and fasting really strengthens your trust in someone, most times a spirit being; while fasting strengthens your focus. People fast to strengthen their focus and it is what they use to fix their mind on a thing; they probably have a target they must achieve. An example is Jezebel who fasted when she was determined to take away Naboth’s vineyard from him [ref. 1 Kings 21:9-10]. Remember, Jezebel was the most evil queen ever mentioned in the bible. So you see, fasting is general thing, although it was developed for spiritual purpose. It has to do with meditation, going deep into something without distraction.

When you fasting, you must not be distracted, so you take away that which brings so much distraction to you; food is mostly chosen as that which should be put aside, the reason that once a person lacks food, it kills every other thing that could cause distractions. This is important when you want to get into the spirit realm; for Believers, the word of God is spiritual so when we fast and meditate on the scripture deeper and spiritual insights are released.

For prayer, this is a communication with another which often times is; a spirit being. For Believers, prayer should really be a declaration of faith and not the asking aspect, the reason why we ask is because we are still growing in faith, so we need God to strengthen us over what the scriptures says. For instance, the bible says we are blessed with all spiritual blessings [ref. Ephesians 1:3]; also, Jesus said our heavenly Father knows what we need before ask Him [ref. Matthew 6:32]; so, we just need to believe what the scriptures says but it doesn’t come easy so we need to pray to God in times of trials and temptations for His strength and power to have faith in the word.

Furthermore, prayer is important, when praying for others or what we call prayer of intercession; we intercede on behalf of people just the way we would have prayed for ourselves.

We must understand that fasting and praying doesn’t solves problems; instead it is who your focus on that solves the problem. Jesus Christ is the Alpha and Omega and has every problem solved; so fasting gets us in the realm of seeing His finished work as real. Prayer on the other hand helps to strengthen our faith in Christ Jesus. Do not idolise prayer and fasting; on use it to focus on the only one to be focused on who is Jesus Christ. God has given us a stress free life even though it requires a lot of discipline; this is the gospel truth.
