Paying Attention This New Year

The new year began yesterday, and I wrote on How To Keep Your New Year Resolutions. Still, in the light of the new year, there are certain things we all should pay attention to as we run through the entire year.

Proverbs 23:12 says, "Pay close attention to the teaching that corrects you, and open your heart to every word of instruction." TPT.

I usually advice people to be fast but do not rush. What this means is that every second of your time should count as there is no time to waste, but don't do things without wisdom.

The word of God is the best place to go to in search of wisdom as you begin this year. The verse above talks on paying attention to the teaching that corrects you. To do this, you need the spirit of humility. A person who isn’t humble cannot receive teachings and instructions that would guide him or her.

And without humility you won't know when the Lord God is guiding you.

Humility before the Lord God is to drop what you know and then listen. The reason is because God knows your purpose here on earth. So, if you claim you know, then you're not ready to learn.

Instructions and teachings can come from people also. You are to search the scriptures with the leading of the Holy Spirit to know if it aligns with your purpose here in life.

Remember, you don't know the very next second of your life, so opening your heart to God's wisdom [who is our Lord Jesus] is the best thing you can do to yourself if you intend to have a great year and life.

There is no time to waste, but as you move fast into the year, always allow God's wisdom to guide your every step (ref.: Psalms 119:105).

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
