Whenever we hear the word destiny, many times we believe it is a fixed plan from God for us that cannot be changed. But that isn't true. 2 Peter 3:9 says, "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." If God, who is all-knowing, wants everyone to repent because He cannot force us into repentance, does that imply that our destiny is in God's hands? No, it implies our destiny is in our hands.
Destiny implies a destination, which is based on choice. So, where does God fit into all this?
When God brought us into this world He made us with a purpose, and it is that purpose we are to fulfill, but fulfilling the purpose of our creation is by choice.
When we were born, we were born to a family, whether biological or Foster. It is the duty of our parents, in particular, to set our hearts in line with our God-given purpose. This is why Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it." God has assigned every parent the duty to set every child that has been given them on the part of God, where they would find their purpose. And when they are grown and are to leave their parents, they will know how to rest on God.
This same duty has been given to Church leaders to those whom they oversee. They aren't to dictate to them; rather, they are set on the part of God's purpose (ref.: Ephesians 4:11-16).
As Sons and Daughters of God having been brought up by physical and Spiritual parents, we are to ask ourselves if our destiny is fulfilling the purpose to which we were sent here on earth. Whatever action we portray is the result of where our heart rests. As Apostle James said in James 2:26, that faith in our Lord Jesus without works to show for it is dead. This goes for every action portrayed.
Is your destiny in line with His purpose for you?
Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!
