Live In The Spirit (Part 2)

Last time I talked about how we are to live in the spirit by understanding that it is the spiritual realm that controls the physical realm. I also explained how Believers have the exact spirit of Jesus of which we are to operate from the realm of this spirit because this spirit of Jesus has all authority in heaven, earth and under the earth. The question I posed was, how do we live in the spirit? Let’s find out.

I talked about how Daniel got answers from God by looking unto the mercies of God; as I said, Daniel didn’t have the fullness of the Holy Spirit in him, so let’s look at the first one who had the fullness of God in Him, Jesus. For Jesus, “...having risen a long while before daylight. He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.” (Mark 1:35 NKJV). If you check several places in the gospels you would find Jesus always went to solitary places to pray. The prayer here was deep meditation with His Father in heaven; He already had the Holy Spirit in Him so He meditated on who He was and His mandate on earth, so that was why He needed a place that was quiet. Quiet time is a very important part to in order to commune in the Spirit; it helps you focus on the scriptures without any physical distractions.

Another is fasting; fasting kills physical form distraction and allows you to focus when meditating on the scriptures and become the scriptures; you become the truth in the scriptures because in order to doubt the scriptures you need physical strength, but when the physical strength is taken away, you only have the spiritual to focus on. Jesus when answering the Pharisees about why His disciples didn’t fast, He said, “Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.” (Matthew 9:15 NKJV). Now that the bridegroom has gone and His Spirit is now in us, we need to get in contact with the Holy Spirit and allow Him work through us.

Another powerful way we can live in the Spirit is through speaking in tongues; this is the ability God has put on every Believers mouth that possesses the Holy Spirit in Him; this ability is the speaking of mysteries, mysteries that only the Holy Spirit understands; in order words, it is a spiritual language where we declare who we are in Christ in the Spirit. The mystery is so deep that it can’t be understood by man except through the gift of interpretation. When we pray, we pray with our understanding, but when we back it up with tongues the Holy Spirit takes over and speak the exact words to God. The bible says in Romans 8:26-27, “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the heart knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” (NKJV).

Praise is a very powerful way of getting into the Spirit realm; praise itself is Spiritual because your focus is on God and when you keep doing that, your faith is strengthened and you live in the realm of the Spirit. Praise is a form of meditation just the way speaking in tongues is. Fasting enhances our focus and as I said, it’s not a magic wand. All these mentioned enable us to see the Jesus’ Spiritual realm as the real life and not the physical world we live in.

The reason why we need to live in the Spirit is because the physical realm is controlled by spiritual forces. Once you get a hold of living the life of the Holy Spirit you have control of the heaven, earth and under the earth. This is the reason why when sickness attacks, you command it to leave your physical body and it does, this is because you’ve come to understand the physical world is not real only what the Spiritual world says is real. So we define the physical world by making it align with what we believe which is the Spiritual world of Jesus.

As we live in the Spirit, certain qualities emerge which are the fruit of the Spirit which is love, joy, peace, longsuffering or patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control [ref. Galatians 5:22-23]. So, if we live in the Spirit, we are to walk in the Spirit [ref. Galatians 5:25]. This is the quality of one who lives in the Spirit, and whatever you do prospers [ref. Psalms 1:3].

The scriptures which are meditated upon are inspiration from God, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Focusing on the Scriptures is to live the life of Jesus since we are joint heirs with Him, so living in the Spirit is to live the exact life of Jesus who has total dominion in the universe. The Scriptures purify us just as it says, “...profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. Also it makes us transformed by the renewal of our mind.

The summary of all these is that we have been given a new life but we don’t know how to use this life; praising God, fasting, speaking in tongues all help us in our meditation on who we are which the Scriptures reveal to us; this cannot be understood with the ordinary mind but with the Spirit of God [ref. 1 Corinthians 2:6-16]. With this, we then have the mind of Christ; as a result of this all things become ours because we are of Christ [ref. 1 Corinthians 3:21-23].

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!

Live In The Spirit (Part 1)

You wake up, get dressed and move out, live life, eat, exercise and do many other things, but do you know that your body is not the real you? It is just the physical manifestation of you. The real you is a spirit; man is a spirit living in an earth suit that we call body.

To elaborate, let me use this illustration: Mr. X drives a green Mercedes, when he drives across the road you would say, “Mr. X drove across the road”, even though you saw the green Mercedes. Anything that happens to the Mercedes is as a result of the one who drives the Mercedes and not the car doing things by itself. This also applies to man, it is his spirit in him that controls his body; just the way the man in the car determines whatever happens to the car, the same thing applies to the man, whatever happens to man is determined by his spirit. So, why do we focus on the physical things rather than live in the spirit which controls and determines the physical manifestation. Why don’t we live in the spirit, then we would utilise the full potential of our being.

The physical body we possess cannot do anything without the spiritual nature; the spirit is so vast that the physical body is just a trickle of the ability of the spirit. So, when we live in the spirit and understand the fullness of the spirit, we control the physical realm anyhow we want.

Believers are the most privileged, this is because our spirit is the exact spirit of Jesus which is the exact spirit of God; and remember, the spirit Jesus possess is the same spirit God gave all power and authority in heaven, on earth and under the earth to. All power at its climax is in this spirit, but why do we live as one who doesn’t know this?

We must live in the spirit of Jesus which every Believer possesses before we see the miraculous become as easy as the air we breathe. Let’s take a look at Daniel; now remember Daniel had the Holy Spirit with him and not in him because it was until the day of Pentecost before the fullness of the Holy Spirit came and dwelt in every Believer because of the resurrection of Jesus. My emphasis here is to explain that Daniel not having the fullness of the Holy Spirit had great wonders performed through him by the Holy Spirit which is a slap on our face as we have the fullness of the Holy Spirit in us and we are not portraying the tremendous ability given to us just because we are not living in the spirit. What did Daniel do?

In the book of Daniel, king Nebuchadnezzar had a dream that bothered him so much, he forgot the dream and to remember the dream called for wise men, astrologers, sorcerers to tell him his dream and then interpret it. The wise men told the king that it was impossible for any man to tell a dream that he didn’t dream without being told. But there was something striking at what they said, “It is a difficult thing that the king requests, and there is no other who can tell it to king except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.” (Daniel 2:11 NKJV).

Even though their gods were inferior, it wasn’t a lie that mysteries were only understood by gods but we who serve the Almighty God who surpasses all other gods are more privileged. The only way to get the mysteries is for us to leave this physical realm and live in the spirit. Daniel had to seek the mercies of God concerning this secret; he left this realm in order to receive what was beyond the physical; he not only got the dream, he also got the interpretation.

Believers are to live in the spirit which is the unlimited world before they could achieve total control of the power and authority Jesus has given us. How can we actually live in the spirit? Watch out for the next blog.

Make Use Of Every Opportunity

There are several parables Jesus gave while He was here on earth, but there is one I believe He gave that cut across everyone and that is the parable of the sower. This parable is important because it explains to us that our life is shaped by what we do with the words we hear, in this case it is the word of God. This parable can be found in three of the four gospels, which are; Matthew, Mark and Luke. However, there is something about this parable that is so important; which is the interpretation of the parable. Each of the accounts recorded in the gospel doesn’t have the complete interpretation, but when put together, it becomes complete, let’s take a look.

According to Jesus’ parable, a sower sowed seeds, and as he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side which birds came down to devour, (these are people who hear the word but do not understand it and the birds which represents the wicked one comes and snatches the word away); some seeds fell by stony places which sprang up immediately but as the sun came, it scorched it because they had no depth in the soil (these are those who hear the word, receive it with joy but the word doesn’t have real depth in them so when tribulation and persecution comes, the word fades away after a short time); again, some seeds fell among thorns, and sprang up with the thorns but was later choked by the it (these are those who hear the word but the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word and becomes unfruitful). Finally, some seeds fell among good soil and yielded a crop some a hundredfold, some thirty fold and some sixty fold; the interpretation to this is broken it three parts and this is what I would explain.

When interpreting the meaning of the seeds that fell on the good, the Matthew account says, “But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” Matthew 13:23 (NKJV); the Mark account says, “But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.” Mark 4:20 (NKJV); the Luke account says, “But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.” Luke 8:15 (NKJV); note the underlined words.

Matthew says: hears the word and understands it and produce a crop; Mark says: hears the word, accept it, and produce a crop; Luke says hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop. After combining the gospels, it was then clear, what Jesus made us understand was that for us to put the WORD to use by producing fruits the following are important; first of all we are to HEAR the WORD then UNDERSTAND the WORD; then ACCEPT the WORD; then RETAIN/KEEP the WORD and finally; with PERSEVERANCE/PATIENCE, PRODUCE A CROP.

As Christians, we should act like the Bereans who always searched the scriptures [ref. Acts 17:10-12]. The Devil comes to kill, steal and destroy [ref. John 10:10]; so what does the Devil really steal? The Word! You see, “...faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” Romans 10:17 (NKJV); and this is what the devil hates to see so he does everything for us not to hear the word.

We have to be careful because the devil comes like roaring lion seeking whom he may devour; we need to be humble before God because we get strengthened by God and when the word comes we have faith. Faith requires diligence, and having faith we are to add virtue to it, and to virtue we are to add knowledge, and to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. Apostle Peter said those who lack these are shortsighted, even to the point of blindness, making them persons who have forgotten that they we cleansed from their old sins. He further advises us to be diligent in our faith.

So, the major point here is that we are to hear the word, understand it, accept it, retain it and by perseverance we would produce a crop. All these should be mixed with faith, putting up the whole armour of God [ref. 1 Peter 5:5-9; 2 Peter 1:5-10; Ephesians 6:10-20]. You must alert when we hear the word and possess it as a priced treasure, because the devil intends to steal, and remember, he doesn’t love at all; but God on the other hand loves us till eternity; this is the gospel truth.

Really, What Is The Essence Of Praying And Fasting?

There are times we really need things to be done that we go spiritual by praying and fasting. There is a miracle in the bible where the disciples of Jesus tried to heal a boy possessed with a spirit of epilepsy but didn’t succeed; Jesus eventually came and rebuked the spirit from the boy. Later the disciples came and asked Him why they couldn’t cast out the spirit. Jesus’ reply was that that kind of evil spirit could leave is only through fasting and praying [ref. Matthew 17:14-27; Mark 9:14-29; Luke 9:37-42]. But really, what is the essence of praying and fasting? I’m sure this question sounds funny to you, but let’s find out even if you already know.

Praying and fasting are two important qualities in a Believer’s life; not only in a Believer’s life but in every life; this is because praying and fasting really strengthens your trust in someone, most times a spirit being; while fasting strengthens your focus. People fast to strengthen their focus and it is what they use to fix their mind on a thing; they probably have a target they must achieve. An example is Jezebel who fasted when she was determined to take away Naboth’s vineyard from him [ref. 1 Kings 21:9-10]. Remember, Jezebel was the most evil queen ever mentioned in the bible. So you see, fasting is general thing, although it was developed for spiritual purpose. It has to do with meditation, going deep into something without distraction.

When you fasting, you must not be distracted, so you take away that which brings so much distraction to you; food is mostly chosen as that which should be put aside, the reason that once a person lacks food, it kills every other thing that could cause distractions. This is important when you want to get into the spirit realm; for Believers, the word of God is spiritual so when we fast and meditate on the scripture deeper and spiritual insights are released.

For prayer, this is a communication with another which often times is; a spirit being. For Believers, prayer should really be a declaration of faith and not the asking aspect, the reason why we ask is because we are still growing in faith, so we need God to strengthen us over what the scriptures says. For instance, the bible says we are blessed with all spiritual blessings [ref. Ephesians 1:3]; also, Jesus said our heavenly Father knows what we need before ask Him [ref. Matthew 6:32]; so, we just need to believe what the scriptures says but it doesn’t come easy so we need to pray to God in times of trials and temptations for His strength and power to have faith in the word.

Furthermore, prayer is important, when praying for others or what we call prayer of intercession; we intercede on behalf of people just the way we would have prayed for ourselves.

We must understand that fasting and praying doesn’t solves problems; instead it is who your focus on that solves the problem. Jesus Christ is the Alpha and Omega and has every problem solved; so fasting gets us in the realm of seeing His finished work as real. Prayer on the other hand helps to strengthen our faith in Christ Jesus. Do not idolise prayer and fasting; on use it to focus on the only one to be focused on who is Jesus Christ. God has given us a stress free life even though it requires a lot of discipline; this is the gospel truth.

The Heart Of A Child Is Blessed

When I look at kids, I see how happy and relaxed they are in their own world, which of course looks very different from ours; sometimes I just miss being as free as they are. Jesus’ disciples one day came and asked Him who the greatest in the kingdom of heaven is, and Jesus said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3-4 (NKJV). What is so special about children that we need to have their type of heart before entering the kingdom of heaven?

Children’s way of reasoning is very much different from adults; try to remember how you reasoned when you were a kid; there was a sense of peace, no worries, no struggles and you were always full of joy and freedom. Things changed when you started to become more responsible for yourself, and eventually the childish nature left. Take note, I said more responsibility chased away our attitude as children, does that mean what Jesus was saying was for us not to be responsible? No.

Take a look at children again, they are not conscious of themselves; a child could play without clothes on and won’t feel ashamed because he is not conscious of being naked. Again, children look up to their parents as their superheroes, protector; they rely on their parent for everything; they don’t bother themselves for any, they trust what they need is provided once mummy and daddy are available. This is the humility Jesus was talking about for us to have.

Apostle Peter said we should humble ourselves before God so that He would lift us up; and we are to do this by casting all our cares, worries, burdens upon God because He cares for us [ref. 1 Peter 5:6-7]. This is how children behave to their parents; they cast all their worries and burden upon their parents because they believe they care; they don’t try to fight things by themselves, they bring it to mummy and daddy; this was what Jesus was talking about.

Until you start seeing God as your Father who cares for you; as one who we are to place every worry on and believe He has taken care of everything, we cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. The problem with many of us is that we trust in our abilities a lot and they fail us; even when they fail us we try again. We trust in our books, degrees, as the way out of any difficulty which would never work or give a permanent end to any problem. As a problem seems to be solved, an even greater problem emerge due to our so called solution, an example is crime rate. This is why not many wise men today are called; instead God chooses the lowly ones; the ones who don’t have anything to brag about [ref. 1 Corinthians 1:26-28].

Apostle Paul, when he made Jesus his Lord found he counted all his degrees and accomplishments as rubbish; he decided to focus on Jesus alone [ref. Philippians 3:8]. To rely on Christ Jesus alone is not being foolish but being very wise. Why struggle things out when you could cast all your problems upon Jesus; for He Himself said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 (NKJV); again He said “...for without Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5 (NKJV). You can only find this when you’re humble in Him.

Don’t look at what your friends would say or your family, I assure you having the heart of a child by looking unto God can never be a regret, I assure you; to look unto Him is to empower our faith [ref. Hebrews 12:2]. As I said you can never regret being a child once again, but this time towards God who is your Father. If you regret this move, let me know; but I’m sure I won’t get any feedbacks on regrets. It’s because of His love and care for us that all these are so; this is the gospel truth.

Mind How You Live

Jesus while giving His sermon on the mount talked about those He would tell He never knew on the last day. Matthew 7 from verse 21 says, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of the My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!” (NKJV).

In an earlier blog of mine, I explained what the will of God is, which is to listen to the Holy Spirit who would get you transformed by the renewal of your mind. So, once this is done, your mindset falls in line with that of God which of course is living the will of God. Living the will of God would be a natural thing for you; but these people Jesus spoke of performed wonders in His name and not another, so where did they miss it?

Matthew 25 from verse 31, Jesus explained how He would separate the sheep from the goat and of course those Jesus spoke of in Matthew 7 are part of the goat group; so what makes a person a sheep and another a goat? Jesus said, “For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.” Matthew 25:35-36 (NKJV). These are the ways those Jesus called sheep lived their life without pretence, because when they replied Jesus, they said they didn’t know when they did these commendable things; as for the goats, they didn’t do any these even though they claimed to have performed wonders. It implies once you do any of those things mentioned above out of selfish interest such as fame or public announcement, they won’t be counted in heaven.

As Apostle James explained, a Believer who is not just a hearer but also a doer of the Word is expected to live a life of pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father which is: “...to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.” James 1:27 (NKJV). This should be a natural act, being led by the Holy Spirit; but what do we find today, people announcing to the public when they give to the less privilege which is what Jesus said we shouldn’t do [ref. Matthew 6:1-4]; or we see people who give, so that they get blessed by God; true, you get blessed when you do this, but that should not be our focus, instead welfare provision out of love and compassion should be our focus and nothing else; this is how you really won’t take note of these things because it is who you are, and on the last day God would count you as sheep.

When you accept Jesus Christ and allow His Spirit flow through you, everything we do should be out of love and compassion just as Jesus did while here on earth. Mind how you live and you can do this by listening to the Holy Spirit, I can’t stop saying this. We should love and care for people from our heart just the way God loves and cares for us; this is the gospel truth.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. Gratitude 2

Yesterday, I explained the importance of gratitude to our lives as a whole. Gratitude strengthens relationships; when you are grateful, people are ready to go the extra mile and make sacrifices for you; but when you lack the spirit of gratitude, you lose your relationship with people and you become spited on. The news of your sad attitude goes round as one who isn’t grateful. As a result of this, an unforgiving heart grows in you, making you bitter and one who complains. The truth is that things won’t work to your favour; you tend to struggle to get anything done; you may feel you’ve achieved something but this comes with much toiling and labour.

Simon Peter asked Jesus in Matthew 18:21 how many times he was to forgive someone in a day, Jesus told him he should forgive a person 490 times in a day which of course what Jesus was actually saying was for us to always forgive.

In line with this, Jesus gave a parable which He likened to the kingdom of heaven. Jesus said the kingdom of heaven could be likened to a man who owed his master 10,000 talents (a hundred thousand dollars) and couldn’t refund the money. The master had already ordered that the man be sold along with his wife and children; but after much pleading the master had compassion on the man and forgave his debt and let him go.

When the man went out he found a fellow servant like him who owed him 100 denarii (ten dollars), he then demanded for his money by force, but the other man pleaded with him that he would pay up. The man wasn’t satisfied and locked him up; the news got to the master about what had happened and demanded to see the servant he freed earlier of his debt for he was very angry. The master said he couldn’t forgive a fellow servant of his debt that was worthless compared to what he was forgiven of. Due to this, the master handed him over to the torturers till he paid up [ref. Matthew 18:23-35]. Jesus said this is what His Father would do to those who do not forgive his fellow brother his trespasses.

You probably would say “but God has taken away all our sins, so why would He hand people like the man in the parable to the torturers on the last day?” The answer is very simple; an unforgiving heart is an attribute of an unsaved man and not a Believer. The bible says in Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (NKJV). This is linked with what Jesus meant in the parable; if God could forgive our sins even when we didn’t deserve it, why can’t we forgive a fellow brother his fault?

It is the love of Christ towards us that compels us to become Believers. But when one becomes ungrateful for what Jesus did for him, he develops hate towards people and he finds it hard to forgive. He starts complaining about everything and won’t have compassion. If this person claims to be a Believer, it won’t be long before he backslides or become a religious fanatic. It is Christ’s love that gives us the reason to be grateful to people and where we are; it is with this that we allow the blessings of God to flow in our lives.

When you are grateful, you have peace of mind; joy flows through you and you start seeing your problems walk away gradually; sickness leaves, poverty goes, pain ceases and many like this. Always see the good in everything around you and be grateful for it, it is with this you would overcome and live the Christ filled life. This is because of the love Christ has for us and this is the gospel truth.

Gratitude

I love children, they make me happy even though they could be naughty a times, but even with that I could go a mile in helping a child achieve a thing; but I could even extra miles just because the child had something inside that was let out, and what could that be? Gratitude! I don’t know about you but this has a tremendous effect on me. This should not only apply to children but to everyone as a whole, this is very important in our lives, but people don’t what this could fetch them, let’s find out.

Many people today don’t know that to break barriers in life, gratitude is so important. Let’s take an example of a man who is in need of food; he met another person who helps him, but the one who could help had just a little to spare. The man in need accepted the food but when he discovered another person who had so much more to spare which of course is more than what he was offered by the previous person, he spites him and says to himself, “what did the first man give me? Nothing, I had to struggle all the way, but look, God has blessed me someone who has more than enough!” This action has closed any help that could come from the first man.

Lack of gratitude leads to an unforgiving spirit and makes one become one who complains; you can see this in the attitude of the Israelites wilderness on the way to the promise land; they didn’t appreciate God saving them from the hands of Pharaoh; giving them free food and meat, as well as water. As a result of this, only two people who left Egypt made it to the promise land.

We must always know that when we appreciate what God has done for us we allow more of His blessings flow towards us. Complaining implies we don’t appreciate what God has given to us; and if you’ve noticed those who complain don’t go far in achieving things. Be grateful to God and see His blessings flow. The Spirit Of Perfection

God’s original plan when He created the world was for it to be perfect, because anything God creates is a reflection of Himself, which was perfection. When you read the creation story in Genesis 1 you will find out after God finished a day’s work He would see what He had done and call it good; and when God calls a thing good, it implies that it has reached the zenith of which nothing could be better. Now, Adam sold this perfect world to one who had an imperfect spirit (the devil) and of course once the world was in the hands of an imperfect being, then everything done by that person is a reflection of the spirit the person possesses. Let’s look at the Believers life in this light.

The world has been controlled by the devil and this implies everything we did was imperfect and therefore not up to God’s standard. As we know Jesus came to restore that perfect spirit of God to us, which of course would reflect in our attitude. Jesus brought perfection to this world so it is left to us to choose what spirit we want.

Jesus performed a lot of miracles, but the miracles really happened because of the spirit He carried which was the perfect spirit; so when He laid hands on people, He sent perfection into them, which was the way God wanted. Sickness, diseases, poverty, being possessed by the devil and many like these, are all not from the perfect spirit of God; you could see this from the story of the woman with the issue of blood, she touched the hem of Jesus’ garment and perfection flowed into her [ref. Matthew 9:20; Mark 5:25; Luke 8:43]. Every miracle Jesus performed was just the movement of the perfect spirit into an imperfect entity.

As Believers, we all got the perfect spirit of God the moment we accepted Jesus as Lord, so our spirit is the same spirit that Jesus possesses, that is why we are joint heirs with Him [ref. Romans 8:17]. When we declare words over a thing, the power of perfection takes over; it could be a sick person, your job, even the weather! Remember if nothing is impossible with God, then nothing is impossible with you because you possess the spirit of Jesus, all you need is just to believe in what you possess.

Our words are powerful because whatever we say affects something, this is why Jesus said He will judge every idle word, “But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgement for every careless word they have spoken.” (Matthew 12:36- NIV). This judgement implies that every word we say contains word meant for use, for perfecting a thing and not without purpose; this is seen in God almighty as He never speaks without it affecting something.

So, when you lay hands on someone, you send perfection into that person; when you speak it contains power and perfection, so mind where you send it. Remember, the Holy Spirit is our guide on how to use the raw power we have been given, all to give glory to God; it’s because of the love He has for us and this is the gospel truth.

The Real Principle Of Tithing (Part 2)

Yesterday, I explained how our entire life and what we own belongs to God; and should be what we use to honour God as a tithe. All what God wants is our heart; Jesus said where our treasure is there our heart will be also. The bible says in Proverbs 23:26, “My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways.” (NKJV); this is done in faith. So what you give God as a tithe is determined by the level of the faith and trust you have in God who is your provider.

Now, don’t get me wrong, giving the regular ten percent is not the issue; the issue is for you to always remember that God owns everything you have and has given them to you to serve Him by observing His ways. There is no specific mention of how much we are to offer God, because we live by faith in love not by rules.

When we read Malachi 3:10 which says, “...Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,’ says the LORD of hosts, ‘If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.” (NKJV); we should understand this was written under the dispensation of the law; so if we are to look at that scripture, we are to look at it with the eyes of this dispensation of God’s grace.

Tithing is a reflection of your heart and who you trust and have faith in. What God really mean in the scripture stated above is that the more you put your trust in God, the more you get blessed, in other words the more you trust God, you allow God’s grace to abound in your life. Remember, God knows all what you need; as you seek first the kingdom of God and its righteousness you allow the opening of the windows of heaven full of blessings that you won’t have enough room enough to receive it.

Our focus should not be on how much we could make while offering our substance to God because this is a wrong intention. We serve the more than enough God, so we should always have faith in Him. The more you see what God has done for you; you just increase what you offer God and then allow the blessing flow through everything you do. It is not exactly the giving that brings the blessing; instead it is your increase in faith that gives room for the blessings to flow, so your increase in faith affects your giving; so have faith in God. It’s all because of God’s love for us; this is the gospel truth.

The Real Principle Of Tithing (Part 1)

Living here on earth implies you would need food to eat, clothes to put on and shelter to live in; wealth acquisition is important, but it defers from a person to another. However, there is a mystery behind wealth acquisition, as we know it is God who has laid down basic principles to acquire wealth; there is a principle of giving of which one of them is the principle of tithing. Tithe is a tenth of a person’s substance given to God, while the remaining ninety belongs to you. Now if my definition of tithing is what you believe then you really don’t understand the principle God has set for the new covenant.

You see, many people follow the first tithing principle which is first seen by Abraham in Genesis 14:20 when the Priest Melchizedek blessed Abraham after which Abraham then gave the Priest a tithe of all the spoil. People believe since Abraham was blessed by the grace of God through faith, which is the dispensation we live in presently; then we are to give a tithe of ten percent to God. This is mistake people make and you need a proper orientation on what giving means.

You must have heard the story of a rich man who willed all that he had to his slave but just gave his son the opportunity of picking only one thing among the entire wealth. The wise son picked the slave, which implies that whatever the slave own belongs to him; this was what happened to us the moment we gave our life to Christ; we were bought with a price and this includes everything we own. This means the so called ninety percent that we think is ours belongs to God. So, the real tithe is giving everything back to God and not ten percent!

When you come to the understanding that God owns everything you own, it would then be clear how God wants you to use the wealth He has given you which is for a mission. Our life here on earth is just like the parable of the talent Jesus explained to us in Matthew 25:14-30; the wealth given to us is for investment which is to be multiplied for Him and not us. It is blessed to give than to receive; who and what we are to give is left to God to do the thinking and not us. Many of us sow wrongly and reap wrongly. Jesus said in Luke 12:32-34 saying “Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heaven that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (NKJV).

Our treasure is the kingdom of God, as for things we need, God has provided for them; He directs us how we are to use what He has given us. Investment is a God principle, but we are not to make the decision ourselves, He is. When you know and understand God owns all and everything has been provided for you by God, it helps our faith by seeing God as our source as He directs resources to locate us. Jesus said, “Give, and it will be given back to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38 (NKJV). So, how well you trust that God has provided your needs determines how you give. There is no measurement of tithing in the new covenant because, it is by faith that we give. What if you don’t have faith when giving your ten percent, this would mean you’ve just thrown your substance away without gaining anything. It is by faith that we live and remember; you work for God and not for any other person. This is the gospel truth.

Faith Is A Lifestyle And Not A Wishing Wand

There are times we face difficulty at things, maybe in a job or in the family or any other thing. What men of God have often said one should do in a situation such as this, is for you to declare by faith to the situation you are involved in, what you intend to see by faith and then with time transformation happen. This is true, but many think declaration is what should be done anytime there is a difficult situation. Declaration is not a “wishing wand”. There is a reason why what you declare come to pass; let’s find out.

Jesus while here on earth lived a standard life that we should always emulate as we live the life of a Believer. Jesus while on His way to Bethany with His disciples was hungry and seeing a fig tree afar hurried to tree and expected to see figs on it but found nothing except leaves; with this, He spoke to the tree (which is a form of declaration) saying no one would eat from the tree again. He left and immediately, the tree died but wasn't noticed until the next day by the disciples as they took the same route the next day. The point here is what Jesus told His disciples; He told them to have faith in God, “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” Mark 11:23-24 (NKJV).

Jesus didn’t want this to just be an action played only when one is in need, He wanted it to be a lifestyle. The bible says, “The just shall live by faith” Habakkuk 2:4; this is a lifestyle and not something you do only when a problem arise. Jesus lived by faith throughout His stay here on earth; so as He moved, His thought pattern was always with faith. When we face challenges, no matter how real it may look, they are always camouflage from the devil. So, we are not to look at the tricks of the devil but in everything we are to live by faith, which should be a lifestyle.

We should also know that until a thing becomes normal in your mind, it doesn’t come to pass. No matter what you Pastor tell you, until you believe that thing as real, it won’t come to pass. Faith is a lifestyle and not a tool used for special occasion. As you become a Believer, you are expected to live by faith in everything because this becomes your new way of life; you received Christ by faith, you believed your sins were wiped off and now you are made clean.

So, when you face any challenge, as one who is truly in Christ, you are to use your weapon of faith which is the word of God. Declaration is you stating where you stand, which is in Christ and not what you loan, so when miracles happen it should not be a surprise to you because you believed it all along as real before it manifested in the physical. When you declare a thing by faith, it comes to pass immediately and that is what you believe immediately; so rejoice and keep giving thanks because God has met your need. But it is the world and not you who waits for the physical manifestation and not you. It is all because of His love for us and this is the gospel truth.

Where Does Your Confidence Lie?

Everyone has a confidence level when speaking; you could easily observe where a person’s confidence lies, just by the way he speaks. A person who has placed his confidence in his degrees would definitely or unconsciously display his confidence level in his degrees as he speaks; this is seen everywhere and this affects one’s confidence level. One’s self esteem is determined by how much confidence a person has in a thing. If the confidence level is high, it increases the self esteem and when it’s low the self esteem decreases. But as Believers do we have confidence in Jesus Christ when we speak?

As Believers, we are expected to be confident about the God we serve and Jesus Christ we believe in. Many times, Believers dodge talking about Christ even when the opportunity comes; they feel ashamed of losing friends and even business contracts; but the point is that no one forced you to become a Christian, this was totally a personal decision. So, if you were confident when you accepted Jesus as Lord, why can’t you be confident now?

Some Believers are so confident in their closet and before other Believers; but they can’t express such confidence before the world and this brings low self esteem; and in the long run, the world overrides Believers just because they can’t stand up to what they Believe in. Jesus said in Matthew 10:32-33, “Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven” (NIV). The Message translation puts it thus, “Stand up for me against world opinion and I’ll stand up for you before my Father in heaven. If you turn tail and run, do you think I’ll cover for you?

We may think we don’t disown Jesus in public, but many times we do. It can be as simple as a conversation with a friend; just because you don’t want to lose that friend of yours, you agree with the wrong the person does and this is not right. What just happened was that you put your friend above Jesus. The world will continue to grow bad if we sit down and do nothing or just accept the wrong that is done; this doesn’t mean forcing people to listen to you but by ceasing the moment when an opportunity comes; and it certainly will. The bible says in Ephesians 5:15-16, “Be very careful, then, how you live-not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” (NIV). The Message translation puts it thus, “So watch your step. Use your head. Make the most of every chance you get. These are desperate times!”.

Opportunities come every time, so if you lost an opportunity today another would come, but don’t assume another opportunity with that person you didn’t talk to will come back, that might have been the last time you would ever see the person. And as I always say, seek the Holy Spirit for direction, the Apostles did this. Ephesians 5:17 went ahead saying, “Don’t live carelessly, unthinkingly. Make sure you understand what the Master wants” (Message); you must know what the Lord wants; the NIV puts this saying, “...but understand what the Lord’s will is”. The will of God is you following the Holy Spirit.

I challenge you to go out there and be confident about Christ when the opportunity comes, because if you don’t, the world cannot be saved; this is why you were born. This is the gospel truth.

The Formula To Your Breakthrough

We wake up each morning, getting ready for the day. What we do each morning determines the day because our mind is like building blocks; so what we start our day with serves as a foundation and a link to whatever we do later that day. It is important whatever we do builds us up positively; but as Believers there is something very important we need to do that makes our day awesome and in line with God; what could this be? The answer is; Praise!

The scriptures encourage us to praise, but praise who? God! Just as the scriptures says, “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name” Psalm 100:4; and “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” (Revelation 4:11). We were created for God’s pleasure so it is important that we give praise to God every morning. Also, in Psalm 50:23, it says, “Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me”. This is how to start the day.

Praise strengthens our faith in Christ, because as we praise God our focus is on Christ and nothing else; speaking about the wonders of God and how awesome He is takes our mind off every form of doubt. This is why Apostle Paul said in Philippians 4:4-7 which says, “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. So you see, before you take your worries to God, you have to rejoice in Him or praise Him; this gives us the strength to trust God through faith.

Praise is the formula to the breakthrough we’ve always wanted; take a look at King Jehoshaphat of Judah. The kingdom was under attack and there was nothing that could be done, but the spirit of God came over Jahaziel telling them “You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!” 1 Chronicles 20:17 (NKJV). What they did was to sing praises to God as they went to battle. As they did that, God fought their battles for them; and those who came to battle them fought each other and victory was the LORDS. Praises open doors for us; so, we need focus on praising God.

Praise is more important than most people think; it’s what God wants and it affects us for our good and sends the devil away. The devil cannot stand people praising God that’s why he tries to prevent us from praising God; there is power when we praise God and this is how we look unto Jesus as the author and finisher of our faith. Apostle Paul said again, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” Colossians 3:16 (NKJV).

When we praise God first thing in the morning, it affects our thought pattern and our day falls in line with what God needs us to do. It is also important this is done as the last thing before we sleep. The grace of God would guide us as we keep doing this; it’s all because of God’s love for us and this is the gospel truth.

Know The Power You Are Made Up Of

There are several laws in the science world such as the law of gravity, the law of thermodynamics and other laws. But even with the accuracy of these laws, many of them have been defiled by the great prophets of old in the bible (as some would call them). For example an axe floated in water which is naturally so impossible; a bin of flour wasn’t used up; a jar of oil didn’t run dry and so on. These things were so great that made a jaw drop; but with all these Jesus said, “Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.” Matthew 11:11 (NKJV). What does this imply? It implies not even the great prophet of old were as great as John the Baptist. But that’s not where I’m heading to, Jesus said, “...but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.” Whoah, so that means John is greater than these prophets and those who are in Christ are even greater than John! Then what’s wrong today?

Really, I get surprised that we are greater than John the Baptist and the great prophets of old. The reason first of all is that non of these prophets including John were born again! Think about it. To be born again came after the resurrection of Jesus. And when you are born again you get the power of Jesus which is the most powerful of all that was, that is and would ever be. The issue is that we don’t know what power we are made up of.

Jesus said in the book of John 14:12-13, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” Jesus while on earth wasn’t yet glorified so all authority wasn’t given to Him and with this He walked on water, stilled the storm, fed over five thousand people, raised the dead, healed the sick, saved those who were oppressed of the devil and so on. And Jesus is telling us we have the power right now to do greater things than he did while here on earth, because we now operate with the resurrection power which is the greatest any power and authority.

We are expected to look unto Jesus, because He is the source of our abilities, He is our life and without Him we can do nothing. The bible says in Ephesians 3:20, “God can do anything, you know-far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently us.” (Message). The power God has given us in Christ cannot be put to use unless we believe it can happen; and the only way things like this can happen is by being transformed by the renewal of our mind, by believing everything we do is Christ empowered and therefore allowing Him to use us as He likes.

We are the hindering force in allowing the miraculous from happening; the prophets of old are supposed to learn from us and not the other way round, because we carry the greatest power and authority that has ever existed. Just let go and allow God to direct you then see the wonders of God in every aspect of your life to the point where the works of Jesus while here on earth becomes a walk over because we don’t operate at that level; where we operate is at His present level; Him seated at the right hand of God. Just believe and know the power at which you are made up of. God has given us all things and this is the gospel truth!

Simple Instructions

When playing a game, there are rules involved, so if you intend to make heads way in the game you need to adhere to the rules of the game. Adherence to rules doesn’t only apply to games alone but to life also. Many times we do things and it doesn’t work out, it wasn’t because what you wanted wasn’t going to work, but you didn’t follow simple instructions. Also, just the way rules change in games, they also change in life but does this happen when following God?

Now, we don’t live in the dispensation of the law but of grace [ref. Hebrews 8:7]. But even with the change in dispensation, there are still rules guiding them. Let’s quickly swing back in time to the story of a man of God in the bible from 1 Kings 13. God sent this man of God to King Jeroboam about his idolatry and what was to come on him if he didn’t change his ways. For the man of God, God instructed him saying, “You shall not eat bread, nor drink water, nor return by the same way you came” 1 Kings 13:9 (NKJV); these were simple instructions given to the man of God. But as I’ve said before, when following God you need to know how He speaks to you and answers your prayers, so that you don’t get deceived. Why is this? Because the man of God was deceived by an old prophet who told him an angel spoke to him by the word of the LORD to bring the man of God back that he may eat and drink, but the old prophet was lying to him [ref. 1 Kings 13:18]. The man of God was killed by a lion on his way for not following simple instructions.

In this dispensation, God doesn’t punish us for not following His instructions but we punish ourselves when we end up with the wrong result order than what we expect. The Holy Spirit is our guide who tells us what we are to do; we are just to follow the simple instructions to prevent trouble or bad result; but when we choose not to follow these simple instructions we become blind to the dangers ahead because we neglected God. The good news is God would lift us up when we turn to Him with humility.

Many of us think since we are in the dispensation of grace, there are no rules, so we could sin as we want; but that’s wrong. This is because when you accept Jesus as LORD, a new Spirit takes over which is NOT the Spirit of sin; that’s why Apostle Paul said in Romans 6:1-2 which says, “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?" The bible also says, “For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” 1 Corinthians 6:20 NKJV.

You can’t sit on the fence, you just have to serve somebody; either the devil or God; but the good news is that God treats us as Sons and not slaves. So what you think are difficult instructions are just simple instructions which is to live your life which is the same life as God’s (this only happens when you accept Jesus Christ as LORD of your life); it’s all because of His love for us, and this is the gospel truth.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. God Has Ensured Your Success

There are many benefits being loved by God; this is because He fights on your behalf, all you need to do is just to believe Him that’s all. Take a look at Jacob who lived his life full of the grace of God when he lived with his uncle Laban.

Jacob had had several children while working for his uncle Laban and felt it was time for him to leave, but his uncle didn’t feel it was time for him to leave, only because he found favour and was blessed when Jacob stayed with him, so he didn’t want to Jacob to leave. Laban asked Jacob name his wages that he would give it to him. Jacob didn’t want anything from Laban, what Jacob said was, “Let me pass through all your flock today, removing from there all the speckled and spotted sheep, and all the brown ones among the lambs, and the spotted and speckled among the goats; and these shall be my wages.” Genesis 30:33 (NKJV).

Now, no matter what happened, whatever Jacob wanted the sheep to conceive they conceived. It looked as though he showed them the colour to conceive and the strength. God was with him all the way, that the bible recorded that Jacob became exceedingly prosperous [ref. Genesis 30:43]. This happened to Abraham, Isaac, Joseph, Deborah, Gideon and many others; they all were successful because God was with them.

We also have God's success today, for instance a man in need of a job; so far God says you’ve gotten a job He told you about, you’ve got it. Don’t look at the circumstances around you; God has ensured your success, just fall in line.

When God is for you, no one would be against you; this happens when you accept Christ as Lord. So, go out today believing in the fact that God has gone ahead of you to ensure you have success. It’s all because of His love for us, and this the gospel truth.

Living The Will Of God (Part 2)

Animal’s move where they want to, they just wake up every day and just do things that suit them; they do things using their instincts. This isn’t so for man; for us, we plan out our day and expect everything we do to fall into plan. Unlike animals, we don’t just wake up and move, we make choices and decisions which is very much different from the next man. But the point here is to know why we plan, because to plan implies creating assumptions which are prone to fail or succeed, like living a life of probability. Someone didn’t live His life this way, He knew exactly what would happen because He went ahead of the story and knew the exact step to take. The person is Jesus; Jesus didn’t plan the way we plan, He followed the plans or the Planner, that’s why He never made a single mistake through His entire life. Let’s find out how He did it.

Man plans his day using basic assumptions but he has no accurate certainty of the outcome. He does this following the trends that have continuously repeated itself, but the point here is that the day he intends to carry out his plan might be the day things change and what does he do? He goes back to his drawing board. This wasn’t the case for Jesus; you see I keep repeating this every time, Jesus didn’t do anything unless His Father who is God Almighty asked Him to do so. Let’s take a popular example; the temptation. Jesus had just finished fasting and was really hungry; it was quite obvious Jesus was far away from town or else the devil wouldn’t have tempted Him with food. The devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” Matthew 4:3 (NKJV). First of all, Jesus didn’t have to prove anything because the truth is that doing that implies you weren’t sure of yourself and it’s a sign of weakness. A boy doesn’t need to undress to everyone before they know he is a boy, his life and attitude just prove it without him doing anything; let’s get back to the story.

Jesus answered him, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” Matthew 4:4 (NKJV). What Jesus implied was that He follows no other instruction, not even His mind but only the Word of God; that sounds like huh???!!!. That’s how Jesus lived, but notice Jesus didn’t just reply the devil just like that, He replied him using the scriptures! Jesus was equipped with the scriptures which is; God’s word; this is a very key aspect in the life of Son or Daughter of God. Jesus lived like this all through His life and fulfilled what He was sent here on earth for without making a single mistake; this is because, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” and “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths” Psalm 119:105 and Proverbs 3:6 respectively (NKJV).

The word of God is expected to be our eyes to see, we can’t see without the word. First of all, we are to meditate on the scriptures every day and then the Holy Spirit would interpret what was studied and guide us on how to live our lives. As you go by, it could happen that when someone asks you a question there could be the prompting of the Spirit to know the words to reply with. This happens in everything we do and ones it is the Spirit, He is never wrong. This is why people wonder how you get things done easily, it’s not magic, and it’s simply meditating on the scriptures and being led by the Holy Spirit.

You will live life with ease just as if you know exactly what would happen; well that’s true because the One whom you follow knows the end from the beginning. God loves us more than we could ever imagine, just trust Him. This is the Gospel truth.
